Gov. Palin Carries Reagan's Torch to India

Governor Palin carried Reagan's torch to India as she closed the India Today Conclave 2011 with a keynote speech about her support for free market principles, individual freedoms, strong female leaders, economic and foreign policy, our pioneering spirit, and her record.

"I appreciate getting to see some of your magnificent city," Gov. Palin said. "This is my first time to India and I hope it won't be my last." Gov. Palin promised her husband Todd that on their next trip, they would visit the Taj Mahal - "that eternal monument of love."

"My country was discovered in the age of exploration," Gov. Palin said. "My country was discovered when the Western Europeans were looking for routes to yours." She made reference to the ancient spice routes and the Silk Road. "When I had the honor of meeting your PM, I expressed my admiration for India's rich culture," Gov. Palin said.

Gov. Palin took a moment to remember Japan and reminded everyone that life is precious and fragile. She said we could "learn from the resiliency and humble cooperation" displayed by the Japanese in the wake of the double natural disaster that befell them.

In discussing her past, Gov. Palin said that "optimism and respect for individual liberty shaped both my political beliefs and my vision for my country."

She spoke about Pioneer Peak, which is visible from her kitchen window. It's a constant reminder that "Alaska is the last frontier," and the state's pioneering spirit shaped her. "There is no limit to what you can achieve with hard work," Gov. Palin said.

Gov. Palin outlined her vision of what government should be, which dates back to her days as one of Wasilla's city council women 20 years ago. "Government should be about laying infrastructure, not planning and distributing wealth," she said.

"As governor of my state, my goal was to clean up corruption and develop our rich natural resources...the push for 'green' at the expense of 'conventional, reliable' sources is not a credible energy policy or economic policy. I've seen firsthand how energy development, job creation and national security are inextricably linked," she said.

Our need for energy independence is only one of the strategic challenges we face today. She spoke about the need to pursue an all-of-the-above approach to energy development.

Some 30 years ago, India was a weak, "developing country....Today we speak of India as a "dynamic, vibrant economy," Gov. Palin said.

"Our countries are half a world apart geographically, but connected by so much in common," Gov. Palin said.

"America's demise has been predicted before. It didn't happen then. It won't happen now," as she spoke optimistically about our nation's future.

"The relationship between our countries could shape the course of the next century," she said. "Indian entrepreneurs are investing in the US, even as US businesses expand here."

"I admire India's tradition of strong women leaders - at home and abroad.....The 'Changing Balance of Power' throughout the world today is driven by the empowerment of the individual," Gov. Palin said.

"America has long been famous for our rags-to-riches stories. Now India is, too," she continued.

"Friends, our two democracies understand the struggle for freedom....What America can show the world is what is possible...Yes, may we be free!" Gov. Palin said concluding her speech.

During the question and answer session that followed, Gov. Palin spoke about foreign and economic policy, and 2012.

When asked if she would support free trade, even at the cost of American jobs, Gov. Palin courageously said "yes," and did not mince words. "We are thankful for free trade we are engaged in," she said. Gov. Palin opposes bailouts and government picking winners and loses. If a business fails, a new one will rise to succeed the failed one. "Free trade is a hallmark of one who would believe in the free-market entrepreneurial system," she said.

On Libya, Gov. Palin said "we can support no-fly zone" and that we do not need to commit American troops there. "There would have been less dithering, more decisiveness" in my approach to Libya, she said. Gov. Palin supports economic sanctions and strong diplomacy to bring peace to the region with military action as a last resort.

Gov. Palin also cautioned that the "United States needs to be vigilant as to what China is doing." She expressed her doubt that China's military build-up is for a defensive posture.

On the relationship between Pakistan and India, Gov. Palin said, "we will not put up with innocent people being harmed by terrorists."

Regarding the mainstream media, Gov. Palin said "you need boldness to set the record straight. You can't necessarily trust the mainstream media to accurately report on your record, accomplishments, and values."

On 2012, Gov. Palin said, "It's not impossible for a woman to become the President of the U.S. In fact, I think it's time ..." Gov. Palin said that a decision on 2012 is still in the future and she is waiting to see who will "offer themselves up in the name of service." When asked what her husband's title would be, she said, "well Todd's buddies call him all sorts of things, but he would be First Gentleman."

Gov Palin supports economic sanctions to pressure terrorist havens and supports the Reagan principle of "peace through strength." She said that waste and fraud in military budget should be chopped, but Gov. Palin believes in strong military and strong national defense, which would be her first priority.

"I am thankful that I came of age in the era of Ronald Reagan. He believed in the power of of the individual, not collectivism," Gov. Palin said. Abraham Lincoln was also one of Gov. Palin's role models, as was Margaret Thatcher, though Thatcher was not mentioned today.

"I am a proud Republican because that is the party of Lincoln and Reagan".

When the a commentator was asked why he found it so important to cover Gov. Palin, the commentator responded, "Sarah Palin is India's friend."

At the close of the Q&A session, Gov. Palin was presented with a gift.

Happy 10th Birthday, Piper Palin

This day, March 19, 2001, Piper Indi Grace Palin was born. She was named after Todd Palin's Piper Super Cub and Governor Palin's baby shower for her was held at the Grouse Ridge Shooting Range. "Indi" signifies independence and "Grace" signifies God's grace (Palin, 2009, p. 76).

On this, her tenth birthday, we wish Piper a healthy, prosperous future, filled with love and high achievement.

NYT, There You Go Again

Governor Palin today posted on Facebook:

The New York Times just can’t seem to get much of anything right lately. No wonder they’re facing economic and reputation woes. Their article today falsely reporting on my record as governor is full of spin, and I shall call them out on it.

Regardless of the recent political posturing, ACES (Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share) is a success for all stakeholders who want more domestic energy supplies for our great country. The Alaskan people (who collectively own the natural resources, via our state constitution), the resource producers who bid on the right to develop our oil and gas, and consumers all benefit under ACES. It incentivizes production and development. It works.

Amazingly, to the uninformed (or to those who really don’t want to incentivize oil exploration in America) ACES is spun to sound like an oil windfall profits tax and its progressivity is made to sound excessive. In reality, it was born of a need to have a tax structure that did three things:

1. It could not be created under a cloud of political corruption and self-dealing like the former Alaska administration and legislature’s PPT oil valuation structure. That’s a critical fact that is now frequently overlooked years later. Remember the legislators and oil industry players who went to jail because of bribes leading to votes in favor of the former administration’s PPT, which was unfairly tilted in favor of the resource producers against the resource owners (i.e., the people of Alaska)? Have we conveniently forgotten the fact that a corrupt process brought forth PPT, and I and others set out to change it by cleaning up the corruption?

2. It had to align the interests of Alaskans and the oil producers through exploration and production credits in partnership so that they benefit proportionally from commercialization of Alaska’s sovereign resources. This is very different from a government overtaxing personal or corporate income in which the government has no ownership stake in whatever it is that is being taxed.

3. It had to use a progressivity system that protects the producers from commercial strain when oil prices are low; otherwise the producers would seek development opportunities elsewhere. ACES does incentivize industry, but beware that Big Oil will always do what it does best for its shareholders: it will look out for its bottom line and always claim that it needs even more tax breaks. More power to them for trying, but resource owners deserve A CLEAR and EQUITABLE SHARE (ACES) of the value of their commonly-owned oil and gas.

ACES accomplished all three. The current criticism of this fair valuation makes no real sense. As an article at Big Government notes:

“The number of oil companies filing with the Alaska Department of Revenue has doubled indicating that competition has indeed increased. Alaska has the second most business friendly tax set-up — up two spots since the passage of ACES. Additionally, a report from Governor Parnell’s Department of Revenue indicated that 2009 yielded a record high in oil jobs. Even more recently, the newest employment numbers from Alaska show that oil job numbers were higher in January 2011 than in January 2010, indicating that jobs are growing at the seasonal level. Parnell argues that state revenues are in jeopardy, but it is estimated that his proposal would reduce revenues by $100-200 million.”

Most importantly, Alaska enjoys a $12 billion surplus thanks to ACES and the sound fiscal policies of my administration. I put billions of dollars aside in savings accounts (though I could have easily spent those billions and made a lot of friends with big-spending legislators on both sides of the aisle), and I continued to veto excess spending and Obama stimulus funds, and chopped earmarks by 86% – much to the chagrin of liberal legislators who were used as “sources” in the article. It’s kind of amusing to see state legislators claim credit for the surplus when they didn’t vote for ACES, and they cried to high heaven when I vetoed their wasteful spending on their special interest projects.

Of course, I could have made a lot more friends in Juneau if I had spent the surplus. But I chose to put billions in savings for a rainy day and return a portion to the people of Alaska. (It was their money after all.) I paid down hundreds of millions of dollars into our under-funded state pension plans, then set aside another billion for forward-funding education. I fought the union’s demands for more benefits, engaged in hiring freezes, and cut frivolous state expenditures – again, much to the chagrin of those who spend other people’s money recklessly. That’s sound fiscal policy. I’m proud of it, and Alaska is stronger today because of it.

Now, if others would like to claim credit for it, that is fine. As Ronald Reagan used to remind us: “There is no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit.” Amen!

But let’s not pretend that ACES wasn’t a key factor in the surplus, and let’s not pretend that it hasn’t been a success.

As for AGIA, our long-awaited natural gas pipeline project is moving along according to plan. A huge partnership was developed with Exxon and TransCanada when I put the project out for competitive bids, instead of using behind-closed-door schemes that would have screwed the public. Alaska will help America become energy independent, despite anti-energy politicos claiming AGIA won't work. It’s already got the 50-year dream off the dime and in the works. See, competition works. So does a transparent process.

US for Palin goes on Grizzly Hour Tonight

Join me at 2200 (10 PM) EDT tonight as a guest on The Grizzly Hour, hosted by Sarah Jordan to discuss Gov. Palin's planned international trips, her taking on of the GOP establishment, and Organize4Palin.

Gov. Palin Leads while Obama Dribbles

The differences between Gov. Palin and Obama could not be more stark. Gov. Palin is set to embark on a trip to India to give a Presidential speech, "My Vision for America." On her way back, she will stop in Israel to meet with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu. On March 23, she speaks in Naples, Fl. Gov. Palin has acted decisively throughout her nearly 20 years of political service and in all other aspects of her life. The liberals and the establishment Republicans do not recognize her lifetime of accomplishments - or perhaps they do and are mortally fearful of how she'll upset their little apple carts.

But, India recognizes Gov. Palin.

India Welcomes Governor Palin retrieved from PalinTV.

While a Japanese nuclear reactor is on the brink of meltdown following a 9.0 earthquake and tsunami, Obama's destination of choice is Brazil - to party. Obama's trip follows on the heels of compiling NCAA brackets, a Presidential function of supreme importance to our national security. When he was not compiling basketball brackets, Obama was toiling on the golf course perfecting his handicap. When he was not on the golf course, Obama was hosting all manner of music awards and parties in the White House. As a US Senator, Obama spent most of his time campaigning for the job he now holds. As a US Senator, Obama voted "present" an astounding 140 times. As President, he graduated to voting absent.

Maybe this is a good thing, for when Obama touches anything related to our nation, some form of irreparable harm occurs. Better that this immature boy dribble, golf, and party hard - and leave the important work to a woman who is a true leader with 20 years of proven results under her skirt.

Gov. Palin Issues Statement on Upcoming Israel Trip

Governor Palin today posted at SarahPAC, her official statement pertaining to her scheduled trip to Israel, which will follow a significant speech to be delivered at the India Today Conclave:
"I'm thankful to be able to travel to Israel on my way back to the U.S.," Governor Palin said. "As the world confronts sweeping changes and new realities, I look forward to meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss the key issues facing his country, our ally Israel."

This is Governor Palin’s first international trip in three months. In December of 2010, she visited Haiti on a humanitarian mission with the Rev. Franklin Graham. In 2009, Gov. Palin traveled to Kosovo and Germany to visit U.S. troops as head of the Alaska National Guard and later addressed a conference of international investors in Hong Kong. Gov. Palin also visited the Middle East in 2007 when she traveled to Kuwait and Germany to meet with troops and conduct re-enlistment ceremonies.

Kathy Griffin’s GAY-TM Machine vs. Sarah Palin

Hollywood is known for it's irony and hypocrisy. Tuesday evening March 15, 2011 was no exception. At the exact same time that Kathy Griffin (the 50 year old adult bully & has-been comedienne) was guest starring in an episode of Glee; a political group hosted a meet up at West Hollywood lounge O-BAR. What's the connection? Well...let's take a look. We'll start with the useful idiot Kathy Griffin. Kathy Griffin patronizingly blabs to anyone who will listen that, "I love The gays", "The gays this" "The gays that", "Oh I love The gays" blah blah blah... The reason I say patronizing is because this last ditch career tactic is nothing new. Aging actresses in Hollywood have reached out to the gays for years. Mae West, Marlene Dietrich, Phyllis Diller, Judy Garland, and now the 50 year old Kathy Griffin have all engaged in the same Hollywood scam. As the years go by and a career, declines and deteriorates; an actress suddenly discovers her love for the gays. A sagging comedienne's career get's a sudden boost of enthusiasm and money as soon as she insincerely declares her love for the gays. Everyone in Hollywood knows this. Yet the reliable GAY-TM machine falls for it every time. Hook, line, and (sparkly) sinker. "I love The gays" CA-CHING! (Now I can buy a new lamp) "My gays need me to protect them" CA-CHING! (Now I can get those fabulous new Christian Louboutin's) "I am donating lots of money to The gays" CA-CHING! CA-CHING! CA-CHING! (This is the best one of all because now I can write off thousands & thousands of dollars in taxes, just like Oprah!) What makes Kathy Griffin's looting of the GAY-TM machine extra insulting was last nights appearance on the hit show Glee. The 50 year old adult bully and has-been comedienne played: Tammy Jean Albertson a "Sarah Palin type Tea Party Candidate". Tammy Jean is an "anti-gay" home schooling Mom and former Tea Party candidate. The character as written was unfunny, uncreative and intentionally insulting to real life multi-tasking, hardworking Home School Mom's (this is Womens Month isn't it? Nice job KG!). Meanwhile on Santa Monica Blvd...GOProud's Co-founder and Executive Director Jimmy LaSalvia invited some Los Angeles conservatives to a Meet-up hosted by GOProud: (GOProud represents gay conservatives and their allies. GOProud is committed to a traditional conservative agenda that emphasizes limited government, individual liberty, free markets and a confident foreign policy. GOProud promotes our traditional conservative agenda by influencing politics and policy at the federal level.) As the Los Angeles City & County Coordinator for Organize4Palin (O4P) I loaded up my goody bag with various O4P hand-outs, cards, & buttons and headed over to OBAR. Nobody was buying into Kathy Griffin's anti-Sarah Palin bullying. In fact I found quite the opposite. I found that Americans are getting tired of the lefts game of identity politics. Aren't you tired of the left trying to put you in a box? I found that Sarah Palin supporters consider themselves to be AMERICANS FIRST. It's time to free ourselves from the top down one size fits all Big Government Bullies. Let's all pledge to reject the boxes that the left (with help from useful idiots like Kathy Griffin) shove us into: the black box, the gay box, the hispanic box, the asian box, the gender box. Hey Kathy, Hey Obama, "One size does NOT fit all, take your identity politics and....." We are proud, hardworking Americans. We refuse to be thought of as bribable voting blocks any longer. We will no longer surrender our rights so that Busy Bodies in Washington DC (often endorsed by Hollywood) can take more of our money and tell us how to run our lives. Talking with these guys in West Hollywood last night I kept hearing the same thing. "I voted for Change, and now all I have left is...Change". Trust me, confiscating the accomplishments of some of West Hollywoods most productive members is not going unnoticed during Obama's Golden Age of Hope & Change. Discrimination by taxation is alive and well. West Hollywood is home to some of the most creative and innovative people in the country. During this impromptu Tea Party I had the pleasure of meeting some of them. Last night while Kathy Griffin was busy insulting women, insulting Home School Moms, insulting Sarah Palin, and insulting the Tea Party; we were busy being productive actually having a Tea Party and trying to figure out how to save America from Obama. Check out this video. It's from Bravo TV's: Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. In this clip, Host Andy Cohen reveals to guest Kathy Griffin the results of a poll. One Mans Opinion

One Mans Opinion - 3/16/2011
By Dewaine Shoulders

There's a old Chinese proverb... At least I think it's Chinese; it could be a Martian proverb for all I know.

May you live in interesting times.

Well, I think we are indeed living in interesting times, as the world seems to be flying apart at the seams; and we're all witnessing the carnage as it happens.

First of all, the world is in massive change mode. Protests and outright coups are being waged all over the Middle East. Europe is on the verge of collapse due to budgetary problems... Austerity is the word de jour.

And back home in the States, we have the Wisconsin protests; seemingly orchestrated by Organize for America (one of Obama's fringe groups). There, anarchists, SEIU union thugs and the 'We Care About Power, Not Education' teachers union members rallied against Gov. Scott Walker. He wants the state-employed union folks to pay their fair share of their retirement and health benefits. Wisconsin, like many other states in America, is nearly broke; thanks to public sector unions wanting more and more money from the private sector, and democrat-led state houses that can do nothing but spend like there's no tomorrow. At the rate these so-called leaders are spending, there won't be a tomorrow for any of us.

As for the unions, they want mainstream America to pay for their ever-increasing retirement benefits and costly health care while their union leaders squander their union dues (that should be covering their benefits), going to the political campaigns of democrats. Imagine that!

Maybe one of these days the union faithful will realize that their union pensions are gone because the union leadership spent it on Obama's re-election campaign and maybe they'll protest their union leadership for a change.

That would be interesting!

Meanwhile, across the Pacific, a 9.0 earthquake rattled Japan, then a tsunami followed. Thousands are dead and missing. A then there are the nuclear power plants that are in the process of melting down. The Japanese people are quietly accepting the fact that their country is in the midst of change, and are not rioting in the streets and demanding the government do this and that (at least so far) or give them free stuff.

Now, if that had happened here, the protesters would be out en force. The anarchists would be rioting and making a nuisance of themselves like always. The lawyers and politicians would be throwing lawsuits galore toward the nuclear plants, and those that designed them. In the meantime, the liberal faithful would be demanding free everything under the sun; making sure some rich person pays for it all. They don't realize that the rich already pay for most all of the social programs and pretty much everything else in America already. The rest comes from the Middle Class, which will be considered rich soon enough. I look for a threshold of $47,500 to be considered rich before too long. But as long as the leaches in our society get's what they want, nothing else matters.

Meanwhile, our glorious leaders on Capitol Hill will spend billions on Congressional Committees looking into the matter, while the talking heads in the MSM would be blaming Bush, Limbaugh, Beck, Palin, and the Tea Party for everything. No surprises there, right?

And then there are the Islamic terrorists that are going by the name, 'The Muslim Brotherhood.' Our current administration thinks they are really cool, secular and really great for Egypt and the rest of the Middle East.

Can we say: clueless?

Meanwhile, back at the Hall of Justice (sorry, but The Justice League popped into my head)...

While the world is in crisis mode, back here we have an energy crisis looming, with $4 a gallon gas (or even higher) hitting Mom and Pop America hard in the pocketbooks. Then there's inflation that's beginning to rear its ugly head. Food prices continue to climb, and those people lucky enough to have a job will soon be on food stamps, as they will starve otherwise.

So, what is our glorious Community Organizer in Chief doing about all of it? Playing golf, of course. Also, he's making vacation plans for Rio (I mean, really, it's been like 2 months since his last vacation, and he's been working sooooo hard [note the sarcasm oozing from those words]). And our esteemed Lamestream Media thinks it's wonderful that Obama spends millions on lavish vacations (at the taxpayers expense, of course) while the country, not to mention the world, is burning all around him.

I'm not going to mention the illegal immigration problems and the lack of leadership concerning a Narco-fascist regime being set up south of the border. Really, I'll not mention that our borders are so porous that thousands of illegals are still crossing the border, and our border guards are equipped only with beanbag guns (no real ammo or guns to protect themselves). I mean, what's the life of a border agent when we can have millions of illegals in this country draining our system dry? The illegals have more rights than the states have, according to BHO and the (ahem) Justice Dept.

And instead of focusing on getting this nation out of a recession and creating millions of jobs, this COinC is talking anti-bullying laws and tackling that pesky Second Amendment problem he and his socialist/communist/fascists comrades have with the Constitution.

Does anyone recall that Nero fiddled while Rome burned?

Let's face it, the leftist media attacked George W. Bush for playing golf a few time early in his presidency. He decided to stop because it didn't look good for a president to be golfing while wars were being fought and terrorists were running amok.

Now, Obama's has played 61 rounds of golf in two years (that really isn't much, especially if you are in the MSM and get tingles up your legs whenever BHO is mentioned), but that was more than GWB played in 8 years! Where is the mainstream media's outcry about this? They blasted Bush, and yet they give BHO a pass. Unlike Bush, Obama get smiles and pats on the back for being a wasteful president. Bush (or any other republican) would be getting slammed early and often by those in the press, and the liberal bloggers.

Say it with me: Hypocrites all!

And as for his frequent vacations? Don't get me started there.

This president has taken more vacations in two years than most Americans take in their lifetimes; and those folks spent far less in the process! I seem to recall the MSM making a big deal about Bush going to spend some time at his ranch in Crawford, Texas. Yet, I have heard crickets chirping in place of condemnation from the leftist media elites for Obama's frequent jaunts around the globe, not to mention the excessive Air Force One trips to speaking engagements all over America. He's using hundreds of thousands of dollars in  jet fuel per trip and not so much as a why? from the MSM.

He really needs to teleconference and save the money to pay down the national debt! Also, it would reduce Obama's Carbon Footprint! Just saying.

Okay, just to set the record straight (and if you have yet to notice), I'm not a fan of the current (ahem) president. I believe the man hasn't a clue how to be a president, thus I usually refer to him as the Community Organizer in Chief. That a job he can do, and I wish he'd go back to that job a.s.a.p.

That would open the door for a new president to step in and actually preside over our collective national problems, and those of the world. Someone who can speak without aide of a teleprompter and actually make sense in the process. Someone wish common sense and a love for the Constitution of the United States. This COinC has nothing but contempt for the document.

But, alas, 2012 will be the first opportunity to replace him. I doubt that Obozo and his insane clown posse (not to be confused with ICP, which has talent, albeit not in the biblical sense) will be impeached and replaced any time soon. He's such an utter failure that he should do the right thing and resign. It could save the nation! But I bet he doesn't. His Harvard-educated ego wouldn't allow that to happen.

So, I pray that sanity and common sense will prevail in 2012, as we elect a new president. I pray that the world will be much better off without the current COinC in charge of America. I pray that we elect a leader, not someone better suited for assembling protesters and thugocracies.

And I pray that when the next president is introduced to the world, the world does what most of us in the US will be doing... Breathing a collective sigh of relief.

I don't know who that president will be, but I do hope her initials are SLP.

Now that would be interesting!

But that's just my opinion, I could be right!

The $4-Per-Gallon President

Governor Palin today posted on Facebook:

Is it really any surprise that oil and gas prices are surging toward the record highs we saw in 2008 just prior to the economic collapse? Despite the President’s strange assertions in his press conference last week, his Administration is not a passive observer to the trends that have inflated oil prices to dangerous levels. His war on domestic oil and gas exploration and production has caused us pain at the pump, endangered our already sluggish economic recovery, and threatened our national security.

The evidence of the President’s anti-drilling mentality and his culpability in the high gas prices hurting Americans is there for all to see. The following is not even an exhaustive list:

Exhibit A: His drilling moratorium. Guided by politics and pure emotion following the Gulf spill instead of peer-reviewed science or defensible law, the President used the power of his executive order to impose a deepwater drilling moratorium. The Administration even ignored a court order halting his moratorium. And what is the net result of the President’s (in)actions? A large drilling company was forced to declare bankruptcy, the economy of the region has been hobbled, and at least 7 rigs moved out of the Gulf area to other parts of the world while many others remain idle. Is it any surprise that oil production in the Gulf of Mexico is expected to fall by 240,000 bbl/d in 2011 alone?

But that’s just the Gulf. There’s also the question of a moratorium on the development of Alaska’s Outer Continental Shelf. It seems the Obama Administration can’t agree with itself on whether it imposed a moratorium there or not. The White House claims that they didn’t, but their own Department of the Interior let slip that they did. To clear up this mess, Gov. Parnell decided to sue the DOI to get a solid answer because such a federal OCS drilling moratorium would violate federal law.

Exhibit B: His 2012 budget. The President used his 2012 budget to propose the elimination of several vital oil and natural gas production tax incentives. Eliminating these incentives will discourage energy companies from completing exploratory projects, resulting in higher energy costs for all Americans – and not just at the pump. According to one study mentioned in a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, eliminating the deduction for drilling costs “could increase natural gas prices by 50 cents per thousand cubic feet,” which would translate to “an increased cost to consumers of $11.5 billion per year in the form of higher natural gas prices.”

Exhibit C: His anti-drilling regulatory policies. The U.S. Geological Survey found that the area north of the Arctic Circle has an estimated 90 billion barrels of technically recoverable oil and 1,670 trillion cubic feet of technically recoverable natural gas, one third of which is in Alaskan territory. That’s our next Prudhoe Bay right there. According to one industry study, allowing Royal Dutch Shell to tap these reserves in Alaska’s Chukchi and Beaufort seas would create an annual average of 54,700 jobs nationwide with a $145 billion total payroll and generate an additional $193 billion in total revenues to local, state, and federal governments over 50 years. This would be great news if only the federal government would allow Shell to drill there. But it won’t. It’s been five years since Shell purchased the lease to develop these fields, but it’s been mired in a regulatory funk courtesy of the Obama Administration. After investing $3.5 billion in exploration programs (a significant portion of which went to ensuring responsible spill response and prevention), Shell announced last month that it has given up hope of obtaining the required permits to conduct exploratory drilling this year. That means no jobs and no billions in oil revenue from the Arctic anytime soon thanks to this Administration. Let’s stop and think about this for a moment. Right now Beltway politicos are quibbling over cutting $61 billion from our dangerously bloated $3.7 trillion budget. Allowing drilling in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas will enrich federal coffers by $167 billion without raising our taxes. If we let Harry Reid keep his “cowboy poetry,” would the White House consider letting us drill?

Taken altogether, it’s hard to deny that the Obama Administration is anti-drilling. The President may try to suggest that the rise in oil prices has nothing to do with him, but the American people won’t be fooled. Before we saw any protests in the Middle East, increased global demand led to a significant rise in oil prices; but the White House stood idly by watching the prices go up and allowing America to remain increasingly dependent on imports from foreign regimes in dangerously unstable parts of the world.

This was no accident. Through a process of what candidate Obama once called “gradual adjustment,” American consumers have seen prices at the pump rise 67 percent since he took office. Let’s not forget that in September 2008, candidate Obama’s Energy Secretary in-waiting said: “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” That’s one campaign promise they’re working hard to fulfill! Last week, the British Telegraph reported that the price of petrol in the UK hit £6 a gallon – which comes to about $9.70. If you think $4 a gallon is bad now, just wait till the next crisis causes oil prices to “necessarily” skyrocket. Meanwhile, the vast undeveloped reserves that could help to keep prices at the pump affordable remain locked up because of President Obama’s deliberate unwillingness to drill here and drill now.

Hitting the American people with higher gas prices like this is essentially a hidden tax and a transfer of wealth to foreign regimes who are providing us the energy we refuse to provide for ourselves. Like inflation, higher energy prices are a hidden tax on Americans who are struggling to make ends meet. And these high gas prices will be felt in the form of higher food prices due to higher transportation costs. Energy is connected to everything in our economy. Access to affordable and secure energy is key to economic growth, which in turn is key to job growth. Energy is the building block of our economy. The President is purposely weakening that building block and weakening our country.

2012 can’t come soon enough.

Pamela Geller Defends Gov. Palin on Canada TV

Pamela Geller, who publishes Atlas Shrugs and who contributes Gov. Palin-related articles to US for Palin defended Gov. Palin on Canada TV. When the interviewer dismissed Gov. Palin as being "ignorant," Geller said that President Reagan was regarded as "an idiot," and "demented," in life a hero in death. The same thing is happening with Gov. Palin she said.
