Organize4Palin in Word, Action, and Giving: Please Help

by Karen Allen

Reprinted in its entirety with permission of Karen Allen, Organize4Palin
Dear Friends,

The last couple of weeks have been unforgettable and full of promise!

With her recent speeches in Iowa and New Hampshire, who can deny that Governor Palin has helped shape discussion among lawmakers and candidates alike with her straight talk on crony capitalism and federal burdens on businesses? Would these issues have even been addressed in the depth they are now, if she had not brought them to the forefront?

Of course, all of us here have watched Governor Palin lead like that for quite some time now. And we expect she will continue to address the hard things that no one else will, “…with integrity, good will, clear convictions, and a servant’s heart.”

No doubt you all saw the sea of O4P t-shirts on C-Span during the IA rally, along with images from there and NH too since then, but what isn’t always visible are the efforts that go on off camera. This incredible C4P and O4P family has come through again and again to support the O4P effort, with donations and boots on the ground.

One of our fellow O4P friends is challenging us all again, and will match any donation of $100 or more up to a total of $1,000, for donations made between now and midnight, Sunday, September 18th.

If you have the wherewithal to give financially to this effort, please give generously of any amount. In the past, we have used donated funds for critical needs such as running ads to reach other Gov. Palin supporters and include them in our mailings, purchasing literature to pass out at events, building state sites, and reserving spaces at fairs, among other things.

In the next few weeks, we will be reaching out even more in the early states and ramping up efforts across the country. We hope you can join us in any way possible. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

May God be with you and our country!

Gov. Palin Did Tell Us: "Keep Your Powder Dry"

The Balloon field in Indianola, IA had just cleared out, leaving a false Presidential announcement narrative long dead in its wake. The narrative, which had run for two weeks straight was that Governor Palin would announce that day. Karl Rove and Dick Morris promulgated it. They wanted to set up the meme of "disappointed supporters." The event organizer aided and abetted it, because they wanted to gin up their crowd numbers. SarahPAC shot the rumor down long before the rally, but some people just wanted to keep it going. The moment Gov. Palin and her husband Todd left that field, a new narrative began...

Constitution Day

Falling out on Saturday, September 17, but being observed on Friday, September 16, it was just so right. Being a Friday, Gov. Palin could call into Alaska's Bob and Mark Show, as she had promised several times. She could dominate the news cycle for the entire weekend. With Bachmann's campaign all but a smoking hole in the ground and Perry under crony capitalism attack, the time seemed nigh. Even the imagery on the One Nation Bus suggested the 16th could be the day. The 16th was just perfect. As the week began, emotions among some of us Palinistas built into a fever pitch.

Gov. Palin had nothing to do with any of this, for not one peep escaped her lips about September 16th. But, a large plurality of her supporters wanted that day and became emotionally wrapped up in it. It got ginned up on Facebook. As the days and hours hurtled toward the 16th, the emotions and psychological projection built. The links in the chain to some people's disappointment were being forged.

Telephone/Telegraph

By Thursday night, the rumor had started: "Gov. Palin was going to call into the Bob and Mark Show on the 16th," a website declared. Palin groups on Facebook lit up. Immediately, KWHL was bombarded with emails and major news networks started calling them. Once word of that got out, the chatter intensified all the more. If the networks were "tipped off" she had to be calling in for sure! The classic child's game of telephone/telegraph was in full swing.

First-time listeners to the show do not know that Bob and Mark and their staff like to play pranks with callers. It's part of the schtick and part of the fun. Bob and Mark were long off the air for the day, but the switchboard operator advised several supporters to tune into the show at 1130 / 11:30 AM EDT on the 16th. The operator could not confirm who was calling but "something was going to happen."

When Bob and Mark took to the airwaves, they shot the rumor down and said if Gov. Palin was going to call in, they would be just as surprised as everyone else. She was not on the schedule and there was no call planned.

The Prank

At 1306 / 1:06 PM EDT, Bob and Mark announced that "Sarah was going to call in." While waiting for the call, they played three songs, the central theme of which is a word defining "female dog." Hearing this, I had a feeling the call would be a prank. Bob and Mark would not play this type of music if they knew for certain the real Gov. Palin was going to call in right after. Though some of their content is best be described as R-rated, they tend to clean it up when they know something serious is coming up. They might be raunchy, but they know when to knock it off.

Then, a male voice they usually use for pranks "called in."
"I'm Sarah. I'm running. I've already run five miles and I have a few more to go!"
Even with my anticipation at fever pitch, I got a good, hearty belly laugh out of "Sarah." After all, Adrienne Ross used that theme in her coverage of Gov. Palin's half-marathon, and I used it in a subsequent story. As a publisher, I want to be the first or at least among the first to break the news. But, yesterday simply was not HER day as perfect as it seemed to so many of us.

Under the Bus!

Many supporters who were so emotionally wrapped up in the 16th were angry that Bob and Mark pulled this prank. Now, they want Gov. Palin to throw Bob and Mark under the One Nation Bus by reneging on her promise to announce with the Alaskan DJ's. After all, "they're just crass shock jocks. Why should she announce with them?"

We've Been Here. We'll Be Here. That's It!

Bob and Mark's slogan is "We've been here. We'll be here. That's it!" It's not just a slogan. They have been here for Sarah Palin throughout her career as Alaska's governor and as a private citizen. Piper Palin, called into the show last year, while her mom was out holding signs for Joe Miller who ran for a US Senate seat. At every key milestone, Bob and Mark were there. When Gov. Parnell tried to destroy Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share (ACES), Bob and Mark were there defending Gov. Palin's legacy and using their show as a bully pulpit for weeks to ensure that ACES - a signature accomplishment of Gov. Palin's - was not hurt. When McGinniss' poison pen book dominated the news for days, Bob and Mark were the only ones on the Alaskan airwaves - there to defend the Palins - and minced no words about what McGinniss is.

Eddie Burke was also a friendly host toward the Palins, but he is long off the radio.

Bob and Mark are the last ones left standing supporting Gov. Palin on the Alaskan airwaves.

While some Palinistas might find some of Bob and Mark's content offensive, and felt "had" by the prank, Gov. Palin has her reasons for promising to announce with Bob and Mark, not least among them being an homage to her local roots, and rewarding their undying loyalty to her.

Keep Your Powder Dry

If nothing else, Bob and Mark performed a valuable service yesterday. Gov. Palin has many times said, "keep your powder dry." Those who didn't heed her advice got pranked. It's that simple. Bob and Mark also taught us that we need to lighten up, and learn to laugh a little. Sometimes, we take things - and ourselves too seriously. Life is too short. When it's her time, it's her time. The announcement will be at a time, place and method of Gov. Palin's choosing, not ours. It will not be at our collective psychological projection of what we hope she will do, regardless of how perfect it might seem. The 16th was "perfect" for some of us, but not for Gov. Palin. She may never reveal her reasons and she has absolutely no obligation to.

Those who ginned up the September 16th narrative have no one to blame but themselves for their outcome on the Bob and Mark Show. It was well-deserved. There is absolutely no reason to expect Gov. Palin to renege on her promise, based on a funny prank. Those who expect her to do so are most likely ginning up another disappointment for themselves.

All this nonsense can be avoided by simply not posting rumors and scuttlebutt on websites and social media sites.

O4P-CA Volunteers Needed for Beverly Hills Tea Party

Hello O4P-CA Gals and Guys!

I can't believe it's been an entire year since the last Beverly Hills Tea Party!

So much has happened.

My fondest memory of last years Beverly Hills Tea Party was meeting one of it's founders: Josephine Rescigno who came up to me and said:

"Tell Sarah Palin I want to be a Mama Grizzly"

Of course by Josephine GOING ROGUE and organizing the Beverly Hills Tea Party she already was a Mama Grizzly!

Josephine is also a fellow member of O4P-CA. I've had the pleasure of working with her this past year on many projects like the Mama Grizzly March on Beverly Hills, and The Undefeated Leadership Screening in Orange County.

This coming Sunday September 18 from 2:30pm - 5:30pm Josephine Rescigno, Pamela Hoffman, Debi Devens, & Pat Boone (the original American Idol) will host another BEVERLY HILLS TEA PARTY!

Let's all show support for our fellow Grizzlies! (Check out Josephine and Pat Boone at the Mama Grizzly March in Beverly Hills last November)

Tea Party's are excellent places to strengthen the O4P-CA ground team (Remember: Whoever has the strongest ground team wins!)

Please wear your O4P Tee Shirts and join us.

Just like in Iowa 2 weeks ago O4P-CA volunteers will be needed to walk around, talk to people, and recruit new patriotic Davids for the looming battle against Goliath and his corporate cronies.

Let me know if you can help and we'll make sure you are armed with O4P sign-up sheets, O4P Palm Cards, and facts...

I look forward to seeing and talking to everyone who can attend!

Crony Capitalism on Steroids from GE to Solyndra - Updated

Governor Palin today posted on Facebook:
UPDATE: Yet another shoe drops in the ongoing crony capitalism problems now engulfing the Obama administration. Yesterday, we learned that the the Obama White House allegedly pressured a four-star Air Force general to change his testimony about a company linked to a major Democrat donor.

In my recent speech in Iowa, some eyebrows were raised when I took on our government’s enormous economic problems caused by crony capitalism. As if on cue, just days later President Obama selected someone who exemplifies a major crony capitalism problem to sit next to the First Lady when he delivered his “jobs plan” speech before Congress. He selected General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt as his honored guest.

Having grown up with great respect for GE thanks to stories my grandfather shared with us about his days working for the company and even meeting GE spokesman-at-the-time Ronald Reagan during a company event, I am saddened at GE’s leadership evolution. This corporation is now the poster child of corporate welfare and crony capitalism.

This icon of American industry is a company full of good employees who make some good products (and is the parent company of a huge media outlet), but GE is also a large American corporation that pays virtually no corporate income taxes despite earning worldwide profits of $14.2 billion last year, $5.1 billion of it in the United States. In fact, they claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion, meaning they received more of our hard earned tax dollars than they contributed. How is that possible? It’s because not only do they shelter their money from taxes, but they also get many tax credits, loans, government grants, and other benefits from the federal government that our smaller businesses couldn’t even imagine being able to profit from.

Joining GE in the pantheon of crony capitalism is another Obama favorite that has been in the news of late: Solyndra. The President hailed this “green energy” company in a speech last May as “the true engine of economic growth.” When he announced the $535 million guarantee to Solyndra, Vice President Biden said that investments like this are “exactly what the Recovery Act is all about.” (Dear God…If the failed Solyndra venture has been what it’s “all about,” then that explains a lot.) As I pointed out in my speech at the Reagan Ranch Center last February: “History has proven again and again, when government picks the winners and losers, we’re stuck with the losers, and we the taxpayers subsidize failure!” And that’s what we’re seeing now, as the FBI raids the solar energy company’s headquarters to glean more information after the company was handed half a billion dollars in “green energy” Stimulus funds from the American taxpayer only to later declare bankruptcy. More than one thousand Solyndra workers lost their jobs. Now as the truth comes out, we discover that the White House was heavily involved in the Department of Energy’s rushed decision to give the Stimulus funds to Solyndra, and they tried to move the money through so quickly they seem to have ignored concerns that the company was not viable. Why would they do this? Perhaps it’s because a large investor in the company (about 35%) is Obama campaign bundler George Kaiser. And with the way the deal is structured, Kaiser will get his debts paid before we the taxpayers see any relief. That is sickening. And that’s how it works: workers lose their jobs, wealthy political cronies stand a good chance of getting their money back, and the U.S. taxpayer gets the shaft. Again.

President Obama has his sights set on raising $1 billion for his reelection campaign. Raising that money won’t be easy. But if you can hand out other people’s money to friends, it must get a whole lot easier. This crony capitalism and government waste is at the heart of our economic problems. It will destroy us if we don’t root it out. It’s not just a Democrat problem or a Republican problem. It’s a problem of our permanent political class. This won’t stop until “we the people” say enough is enough, and we retire the permanent political class that votes for this.

SarahPAC: Now is the time to show your ongoing support of Gov. Palin

Dear SarahPAC Supporter,
During these tough economic times, struggling families and individuals across America need leadership and solutions. In his address to Congress last week, our President offered only recycled proposals that have been proven to fail.

Increasing spending and expanding government control over the lives of hardworking Americans is not the solution to our broken economy. Mortgaging the future of our children and grandchildren will not ensure a better situation today, but it will ensure greater burdens in the future.

With the Presidential election right around the corner, Governor Palin has to make the important decision of whether or not to run for office. You've supported SarahPAC's past efforts to defeat Obama liberals across the country, and I'm asking for your help again.

Let's show Governor Palin that she has our support as she faces this crucial decision!

America is facing a tough road back to prosperity, but we can get there with commonsense conservative leadership from Governor Palin and the support of the Tea Party Revolution she led during the 2010 mid-term elections.

Our President has failed to take the initiative required to ease the economic difficulties facing our nation, and we need real change.

Will you support Governor Palin with a generous donation to SarahPAC today?

Thank you for your continuing support of Governor Palin and SarahPAC. You can also help her by sharing our message with your friends and family on Facebook and Twitter!

Sincerely,

Tim Crawford

Gov. Palin on Greta: Tea Party Won CNN Debate

"I was very pleased with the [CNN] debate. It was a validation of the Tea Party movement by CNN....The real winner was the Tea Party movement," former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said tonight on Greta Van Susteren's show from her home studio in Wasilla, Alaska. "Obama's big government agenda mirrors socialized Europe....It does not work," she said.

Van Susteren noted that only the only candidate who mentioned waste was Newt Gingrich. Gov. Palin said she noticed it too and it is one of the reasons she likes Greta. In discussing, "fraud, waste, and crony capitalism, Newt was right on," Gov. Palin said, adding that some of the other candidates likely did not discuss it because they voted for wasteful spending. "Going along to get along is the root of the problem. We need to hold these candidates accountable," she said.

"The problem we face is that candidate Obama promised to cut the deficit in half. He tripled it. Any of these candidates would be better than Obama," Gov. Palin said.

Greta cited as an example of crony capitalism, Texas Governor Rick Perry's former chief of staff lobbying for a drug company whose product is now required for immunization of young girls in Texas. Gov. Palin agreed that this is crony capitalism and added, "true reform is a tough thing to do in your own party. When you call it out, the big guns try to destroy you. I know. I've been through it over the past 20 years at the city and state level, then as a vice presidential candidate." Gov. Palin added that the establishment types like to use "Reagan's 11th Commandment" which proscribes speaking ill of fellow Republicans as their weapon to silence those who want to hold them accountable. But, "we must hold one another accountable," Gov. Palin said.

When the Perry immunization law took effect, Gov. Palin was in office and said "Alaska was not going to mandate immunizations for our daughters." She saw the bill as being out-of-character for Gov. Perry, but "knew there was something to it."

The segment concluded with a the usual questions and answers about Gov. Palin's decision regarding her potential candidacy in 2012. Van Susteren acknowledged that she and her colleagues have asked the question in as many sneaky ways as they could, and Gov. Palin said she was tired of giving the same "dopey answers to the same dopey questions." Gov. Palin said, "I am still engaged in internal discussions with my family, though I am getting a kick out of making a speech, then seeing candidates get out and discuss" it. When Van Susteren asked Gov. Palin if she had a "drop dead date in her mind," she did not take the bait. "Whichever path my life takes, I will continue to speak out against government over-reach, crony capitalism, waste, and fraud," Gov. Palin said.

September 11 Seared in the Heath and Palin Legacies

Just months prior to September 11, New York City's Mayor closed the Fresh Kills Landfill. This huge tract of land straddling the West Shore Expressway (Rte. 440) treated unfortunate passersby and nearby residents to an odiferous tour de force, especially in the summer months. For years, Staten Island was jokingly referred to as "the forgotten borough," though the obnoxious landfill spawned another nickname, wherein an expletive was substituted for the first four letters of "Staten." Residents breathed a sigh of relief and somewhat fresher air following the dump's closure and were thankful to then Mayor Giuliani and Borough President Guy Molinari.

In the wake of the September 11 attacks, the City of New York needed a location to perform the grisly work of separating human remains and personal effects from the World Trade Center debris. Fresh Kills was re-opened for this purpose. As I went to work at Con Edison's Victory Blvd. location, I could see the huge Klieg-like lights that surrounded the work space, where recovery workers toiled 24 hours a day, seven days a week for nearly a year. Detectives worked alongside them, gathering evidence, as Gov. Palin recounted in Going Rogue, p. 81.

Some of the debris was ash so fine that its composition cannot be identified, even with today's technology. Known as "the fines," they remain at the Fresh Kills Landfill. The fines may contain human remains, are vast in quantity, and contain hazardous material mixed in. They cannot be simply scooped up and transported elsewhere.

My job at the time was to provide desktop technical support, but I also installed and configured Cisco routers, switches; LAN cabling; and built server racks. Roles were not as clearly defined them and the tech support people had the opportunity to get their dirty little hands in everything. I had no idea of who was working down the road from me...

Rochester, NY: November 21, 2009: Chuck Heath Reassures an Overflow Crowd that Gov. Palin will sign everyone's book and no one will go home disappointed. Meanwhile, Sally Heath hugs and comforts a Palin supporter. Photographer: Ron Devito

Unbeknownst to me, as I plied my trade about a mile away from the Victory Blvd. facility, Chuck and Sally Heath were working at the landfill. In fact, the area where they worked can easily be seen from the Victory Blvd. loading dock. Just look for the American Flag fluttering in the distance:

Fresh Kills Landfill as seen from Con Edison's Victory Blvd. Loading Dock

The United States Department of Agriculture's Wildlife Services brought the Heaths in to keep pests and predators away from the recovery workers and their work area. Fresh Kills had only been closed less than a year prior to September 11, thus it was overrun by rats and seagulls.

Meanwhile, on September 11, 2001, back in Wasilla then Mayor Palin set up her emergency command center in the Mat-Su Valley's Public Safety Building, followed by a trip to the local Presbyterian church to pray with and comfort residents, also documented in in Going Rogue, p. 81. The former Wasilla Mayor went on to be an Oil and Gas Conservation Committee Chair, then Alaska's Governor, a Vice Presidential Candidate, and is a now a private citizen likely to be a 2012 Presidential Candidate. She has a proven track record of solid crisis management skills and her handling of September 11 as Wasilla's Mayor is part of that record - as are the mother and father who molded her.

The Heaths did not merely fly a flag and say "united we stand." They got on a plane, came here to Staten Island and aided in the recovery effort. What they saw on that landfill - remains of their countrymen and women being separated from rubble on a conveyor belt - will be seared in their memories forever. They did this work out of love of country. The Heaths were undeniably instrumental in forming who Former Alaska Governor Palin is today. On September 11, 2007, Track Palin enlisted in the US Army and was deployed a year later. His mother rushed back to Alaska to preside over the deployment ceremony on September 11, 2008, watching as her eldest son went to war. Thus, September 11 seared three generations of Heaths and Palins.

In their nearly three quarters of a century, the Heaths did not merely bear witness to history, they were part of it. In my opinion, the odds are 97% to 99% that the Heaths will very soon be part of history two more times, the first of which may be mere days away, but the moment remains unknown to all but Gov. Palin, Todd and God. The second time is fixed. It is 495 days away, when the whole world will learn what a woman can do....

Ten Years Ago

Governor Palin today posted on Facebook:

Ten years ago today, ordinary Americans went to work or boarded a plane and found themselves fighting on the frontlines of a battle they did not choose. They acquitted themselves with grace and courage, just as the thousands of men and women who enlisted to fight in our armed forces—many on the anniversaries of this day—in order to exact justice for their fellow Americans. We will never forget those who died ten years ago today, we will never forget those who died in the war that started on that day, and we ask God to comfort and bless their families. From across this great nation, grateful Americans honor those who defend our homeland. God bless America.

9/11 - Past, Present, Future 2011

The Past

I shot the first two photos in the early 1990s, the first from the Staten Island Ferry, and the second from the 86th Floor Observatory Deck of the Empire State Building. The Twin Towers were an important part of my life, as they frequently punctuated childhood visits to Manhattan. I worked there for a week as a temp; worked six months in the neighborhood, and celebrated my first wedding anniversary there.

A Day that will Live in Infamy

When these attacks were launched upon our nation, I was working for Con Edison doing desktop support and LAN administration. I had been there about 18 months and had the good fortune to be at at our Victory Blvd. facility in Staten Island, some 30 miles away from the Twin Towers that day. My wife was supposed to be exiting the Battery Tunnel at the time the first plane struck as she would have been on her way to a dance class. After an hour of frantic calling, I learned that she stayed home.

I wanted a Reagan-like response to the September 11 attacks. As the hours passed, I waited. Nothing. Our response would come October 7, 2001 at 12:30 EDT. I was in Boston with my wife as we visited a relative of hers who was attending Harvard University on a partial scholarship. That day, I felt I had to visit all the historic sites in the area -- Faneuil Hall, Bunker Hill, Lexington, Concord. When I heard the Battle Hymn of the Republic being played on church bells, I ran to find a TV, and that was where I saw that the War in Afghanistan had started.

While George W. Bush was no Ronald Reagan, he did keep us safe following 9/11, for there was not one attack on US soil. Indeed many attempts were foiled and many Al Qaeda sleeper cells were busted up.

Much Visible Progress Made at WTC Site since 2010

One WTC (Formerly "Freedom Tower") Viewed from West and Murray Streets in early September, 2010 The building was at the 36th Floor level and will rise to 1776 feet (1368 feet to the roof with the remainder for the mast).

The building is now over 1,000 feet tall and steel has risen to the 80th Floor. One WTC is lit in red, white, and blue for the Tenth Anniversary of 9/11. If you look closely at the photo, you can see the lights of Four WTC very clearly.

One WTC viewed from my third floor home office in Staten Island, NY on Monday, August, 29, 2011 at 0544 / 5:44 AM EDT. The lights and cranes of Four WTC are also clearly visible

You can see regularly updated progress on the WTC site at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's WTC Progress site.

Resurrection and Juxtaposition

It was at the same Victory Blvd. facility nearly seven years to the day following 9/11, that I would hear the resurrection of Ronald Reagan. As I pulled my assigned minivan out of the lot and turned on the radio, her voice and words would so transfix me that after two blocks I could not drive anymore. The yearning for leadership I felt at that Victory Blvd. location some seven years earlier was answered by a woman's voice, whose name I did not even know at the time.

Why Gov. Palin Should be Our Commander-In-Chief

Gov. Palin has commander-in-chief experience and accomplishments that were concomitant with her job. Two, very simple phrases describe her military doctrine: "peace through strength," and "we win, they lose." In her speech delivered at Colorado Christian University on May 2, 2011, Gov. Palin outlined her five-point military doctrine in detail:
  1. First, we should only commit our forces when clear and vital American interests are at stake. Period.
  2. Second, if we have to fight, we fight to win. To do that, we use overwhelming force. We only send our troops into war with the objective to defeat the enemy as quickly as possible. We do not stretch out our military with open-ended and ill-defined missions. Nation building is a nice idea in theory, but it is not the main purpose of our armed forces. We use our military to win wars.
  3. And third, we must have clearly defined goals and objectives before sending troops into harm’s way. If you can’t explain the mission to the American people clearly and concisely, then our sons and daughters should not be sent into battle. Period.
  4. Fourth, American soldiers must never be put under foreign command. We will fight side by side with our allies, but American soldiers must remain under the care and the command of American officers.
  5. Fifth, sending in our armed forces should be the last resort. We don’t go looking for dragons to slay. However, we will encourage the forces of freedom around the world who are sincerely fighting for the empowerment of the individual. When it makes sense, when it’s appropriate, we will provide them with material support to help them win their own freedom.
Gov. Palin's military doctrine is clearly patterned after her forebear, Ronald Reagan.

Watch as she interrupted her own VP campaign to return to Alaska and bid her troops farewell to Iraq on September 11, 2008. Her son, Track was among them.

She elevated soldiers' ranks...
She served....
She saluted her Non-Commissioned Officers....
She was saluted as a Commander...
Walter Reed Part I, December 6, 2009 7:01 AM EST:

Headed to Walter Reed hospital this morn to meet wounded warriors;will give them msg of support from patriots who love these selfless troops (Palin, 2009, ¶1)

Walter Reed Part II, December 6, 2009 10:41 AM EST:

"Leaving Walter Reed Hosp;met America's finest;seeing these young soldiers who sacrifice so much changes your life/puts things in perspective" (Palin, 2009, ¶1).

Lt. Governor, Alaska, and Former Adjutant General Craig E. Campbell Discusses Governor Palin's Commander-in-Chief skills in the foregoing video. Special thank you to Gary P. Jackson for informing me about this video, which aired in 2008. Selected quotes from the video:
"Right after she got elected, when she was sworn in as governor, one of the first things in one of our briefings -- she asked me 'where are our soldiers (AK National Guard) deployed and how can I go see them?" -- Craig E. Campbell, Lt. Governor, Alaska

"When she came home to Alaska, she brought home ideas about what soldiers' desires were, what family needs were and implemented those into law the following year...that's what a Commander-in-Chief does - is take care of soldiers, take care of airman, and she does it exceptionally well." -- Craig E. Campbell, Lt. Governor, Alaska

"She is above and beyond what a governor would do. I've watched and seen this for a long time in many states around the country. There a few governors that rise to the challenge and they take the National Guard as their own and they really want to provide the services that a commander-in-chief needs. Sarah Palin does that. She goes to deployments, she goes to returns. When we work the budget for the state, she wants to make sure that the state is putting the right amount of money in to support the soldiers' and airman's needs and our National Guard.
