How to Vet Candidates: Financial Records

It doesn’t surprise me. I’ve seen this kind of crony capitalism before. It’s is the same good old boy politics-as-usual that I fought and we defeated in my home state. I took on a corrupt and compromised political class and their backroom dealings with Big Oil. And I can tell you from experience that sudden and relentless reform never sits well with entrenched interests and power-brokers. So, please you must vet a candidate’s record. You must know their ability to successfully reform and actually fix problems that they’re going to claim that they inherited.

If you've vetted a candidate's voting record, the next step is to vet financial records. "Forensic accounting" is a discipline unto itself, and while the average voter cannot be expected to be the next Peter Schweizer, we can examine some basic records and apply common-sense. We are looking for:

Expenses reasonable and customary vs. outlandish and extravagant.
Irregularities that could suggest embezzling funds.
Irregularities that could suggest cloaking sources of income.
Understating income or expenses.
Income from trade, industry or interest groups who benefit from legislation sponsored or voted on. This is a tell-tale sign of reg neg and possible crony capitalism.

To keep this simple, three websites are key to vetting financial records to the level of a very well-informed voter if not a semi-professional level.

Federal Election Commission Disclosures

The Federal Election Commission website houses income, disbursement and other financial data pertaining to candidates, campaigns, 527 organizations and Political Action Committees. Palinistas who donate to SarahPAC (listed as "Sarah PAC" - two words - Committee Number C00458588), should be familiar with its filings. Just as investors should understand that in which they invest, donors should understand that to which they donate. For instance, Palinistas should know that SarahPAC stumps for candidates who support its principles and that monies from the PAC cannot legally be used for purposes outside SarahPAC's purview, such as a campaign for any office by Gov. Palin. A campaign would have to be done with separate monies.

Like all government sites, the FEC site has a bit of a learning curve, before you are able to find the desired information. If you are comfortable navigating the FEC site, reading and understanding SarahPAC's filings, you are ready move on to other candidates and committees to apply what you've learned from reviewing SarahPAC's filings.

Open Secrets

Open Secrets is operated by the Center for Responsive Politics and is an excellent way to vet financial information pertinent to federal candidates and committees. Being privately owned and operated, it is somewhat easier to navigate than the FEC site. I used it almost three years ago for a campaign financing study and it is a goldmine of valuable information. Considering that I had only been supporting Gov. Palin all of six months at the time and was a complete newbie to elective politics, the site is easy to use.

Follow The Money

Follow the Money is used for vetting financial records of state candidates. Like Open Secrets,Follow the Money is a non-partisan organization. The website has several tools that help you see who is lobbying to include well-heeled individuals. Tools of particular interest include:

Independent Spending - track independent spending on elections.
Industry Influence - see how different industries influence candidates and legislative action.
Legislative Committee Analysis Tool (L-CAT) - "illustrates the intersection of campaign money with the laws that affect everyday life." If you're seeking evidence of crony capitalism, L-CAT will most likely find it.
Lobbyist Link - see what lobbyist's employers gave to candidates.
Point of Influence - shows if a campaign gets most of its funding in-state or from out-of-state sources.
Top 10,000 Donors - top 10,000 donors to federal and state campaigns.

Gov. Palin on Bolling: Candidates Should Attract Diverse Voters

Candidates "can't just be preaching to the choir...Candidates should not be afraid to debate in front of the nation regardless of who the host is," former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said tonight in a wide-ranging two-segment TV interview with Eric Bolling of Follow the Money from her home in Wasilla, Alaska.

Gov. Palin was referring to Donald Trump's proposed debate which Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman both declined. She said both candidates should reconsider their attendance and if she were a candidate would be attend so as to get her message out to a diverse audience which includes independents and those who are "not into the inside baseball."

Bolling said that he does not consider either Newt Gingrich or Mitt Romney true conservatives and queried Gov. Palin as to how someone like him should proceed with the field of candidates. "You and so many Americans are in the same boat," she said. Our choice is between "being socialist" or "being a nation of free men and free markets."

"You are looking for the perfect candidate," she continued. "We're going to have to support the GOP nominee."

Like Hannity before him, Bolling asked Gov. Palin if she was going to endorse a candidate before or after Iowa. She reiterated that her endorsement will not come before Iowa and that Iowa is the beginning, not the end. She said that Gringrich has risen in the polls because he has reached out to Tea Party and Constitutional conservatives, who in turn have forgiven some of his past political sins. Romney has yet to reach out conservative voters.

But, Gov. Palin warned that Gingrich cannot pretend to be a DC outsider when he was an insider. She said that he had in fact done good things as an insider, such as balancing the budget during the Clinton administration, and he needs to remind voters what he has done to reform corruption.

Gov. Palin said whoever rises to the top must campaign on sudden and relentless reform. "If you've been part of the problem, you are not going to get my support or the support of Constitutional Conservatives."

"Any of the candidates would be infinitely better than Obama." Further, Gov. Palin noted that all the candidates have cut budgets, taxes or fought for smaller, more limited government. "I have studied their records." She said a good bellwether on where conservatives might go would be to see who Ron Paul endorses if he leaves the race. Though Gov. Palin disagrees with Paul's foreign policies, she agrees with his domestic spending policies.

Gov. Palin also again said that she did not believe this had become a two-candidate race. "History shows that the winner or second place in Iowa doesn't necessarily get the nomination."

In the second segment, Gov. Palin said that it was typical that Nancy Pelosi and others in Congress would lie about their insider trading - a practice that is illegal for every US citizen outside of the Congress. She said that this activity is appalling and accounts for why people of modest means leave the Congress unusually wealthy. Bolling spoke about how Senators and Representatives were calling and trading stocks after meeting with Treasury Secretaries - accessing both tax payers' money and inside information.

The loans given by the Obama administration to campaign bundlers and friends are also a form of crony capitalism. Gov. Palin referenced Peter Schweizer's Throw Them All Out and said it's time to do precisely that.

About Obama's forthcoming 17-day trip to Hawaii, Gov. Palin said he is "deaf, dumb, and blind" to what is going on in the nation. She predicted "he threw the number 17 days out there just to tick people off, then will come back in 15 days to address some issue in the White House and look like the hero."

Gov. Palin on Hannity: "Obama is Phony," No Endorsements

"I'm very encouraged by these poll numbers and we will have a candidate rise to the top to beat Obama. We want passion...solutions proposed...to undo what Obama has done to this country," Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said tonight in her single-segment TV interview with Sean Hannity as her fireplace roared in her Wasilla, Alaska home. Gov. Palin was referring to a poll in which a generic GOP candidate would beat Obama 49% - 41% if the election were held today.

Hannity recited a list of Obama's negative statements about the Republican Party and Gov. Palin responded, "you gave examples of more of Obama's hogwash. He doesn't mean it and he doesn't walk the walk. He is a phony. Obama is a phony."

Gov. Palin acknowledged that her ticket "missed the boat during the last go-around," but said unlike in 2008, Obama does have a record.

Hannity asked Gov. Palin if she ready to make an endorsement.

"I am not ready to make an endorsement. This is a long process. Iowa is not the end. It is the beginning. We can't be complacent with this poll....Obama will have $1 billion 90% of the lamestream media in his back pocket," Gov. Palin said.

He followed up by asking Gov. Palin specifically if she would support either Newt Gingrich or Mitt Romney.

"At the end of the day, I will support the GOP nominee," Gov. Palin said, adding that any of the independents and unsung candidates would be better than Obama.

Even the lamestream media might be souring to Obama. A coworker informed me about a hard-hitting column written on October 30 by Matt Patterson, a columnist for the Washington Post, the New York Post and the San Francisco Examiner, in which he refers to Obama as an "Affirmative Action President" and discusses Obama's lifelong lack of accomplishment in all of his pursuits.

“Smoking Gun” in Fast & Furious?

For anyone following the Obama administration's scandalous cluster-of-an-operation Fast & Furious, which resulted in the deaths of innocent people, please see the article excerpted below. (And in my humble opinion, I do believe the anti-2nd Amendment characters working in the Obama administration purposefully used their Fast & Furious gun walking operation to propose more gun control regulations.) Scour this article and let me know if you too think this might be a “smoking gun” in the Fast & Furious case.
ATF officials didn't intend to publicly disclose their own role in letting Mexican cartels obtain the weapons, but emails show they discussed using the sales, including sales encouraged by ATF, to justify a new gun regulation called "Demand Letter 3". That would require some U.S. gun shops to report the sale of multiple rifles or "long guns." Demand Letter 3 was so named because it would be the third ATF program demanding gun dealers report tracing information. On July 14, 2010 after ATF headquarters in Washington D.C. received an update on Fast and Furious, ATF Field Ops Assistant Director Mark Chait emailed Bill Newell, ATF's Phoenix Special Agent in Charge of Fast and Furious: "Bill - can you see if these guns were all purchased from the same (licensed gun dealer) and at one time. We are looking at anecdotal cases to support a demand letter on long gun multiple sales. Thanks." On Jan. 4, 2011, as ATF prepared a press conference to announce arrests in Fast and Furious, Newell saw it as "(A)nother time to address Multiple Sale on Long Guns issue." And a day after the press conference, Chait emailed Newell: "Bill--well done yesterday... (I)n light of our request for Demand letter 3, this case could be a strong supporting factor if we can determine how many multiple sales of long guns occurred during the course of this case." This revelation angers gun rights advocates. Larry Keane, a spokesman for National Shooting Sports Foundation, a gun industry trade group, calls the discussion of Fast and Furious to argue for Demand Letter 3 "disappointing and ironic." Keane says it's "deeply troubling" if sales made by gun dealers "voluntarily cooperating with ATF's flawed 'Operation Fast & Furious' were going to be used by some individuals within ATF to justify imposing a multiple sales reporting requirement for rifles." The Gun Dealers' Quandary Several gun dealers who cooperated with ATF told CBS News and Congressional investigators they only went through with suspicious sales because ATF asked them to. Sometimes it was against the gun dealer's own best judgment.

How to Vet Voting Records

An incumbent seeking re-election or a candidate having served in a prior office has a voting record. The purpose of examining voter records is to assess:

Congruency of stated position in campaign materials and actual voting record.
Integrity or lack thereof.
Consistency of position on issues vs. "flip-flopping."
If a change in position on an issue is heart-felt or motivated by political expediency.
Possible evidence of crony capitalism or other forms of corruption when assessed along with financial data. A key indicator is the legislation benefits a business or industry and there are major campaign or PAC contributions from interests associated with the business or industry. You likely need to cross-reference voting records and financial data to see this.

Note that legislators have a penchant for attaching amendments to bills that have nothing to do with the bill itself. A legislator might vote against a bill that seemingly aligns with your values because of these amendments. So, you may need to look up public statements about the decision to see if this factor was operative. Similarly, many bills are deceptively named. Just because the name sounds like something you agree with does not mean that it is. If something about a candidate's vote on a bill causes alarm bells to ring, investigate further.

Remember that no one in the House or Senate can truthfully claim to have cut a budget. Gov. Palin noted this in her December 1, 2011 TV interview with Sean Hannity and Eric Felten's The Ruling Class: Inside the Imperial Congress detailed how "services baseline" budgeting works back in 1993. Nothing has changed since then.

At the federal level, both the House and Senate provide complete official roll call voting records, so if your candidate has served in the House or Senate, you will find the voting record here. These records are organized by the legislation or resolution voted on. You cannot go to one of these sites and search a particular person's complete record, so using these sites fast becomes a real chore. Some Representatives and Senators do list their complete voting records, but it is not common practice.

We should push our elected representatives to post their complete voting records, not just at the federal level but at the state and municipal levels as well. We should also be able to see complete voting records, not just sponsored or introduced pieces of legislation.

Project VoteSmart

Project VoteSmart is a non-partisan organization consisting of an equal number of liberals and conservatives. A search on a person's name will pull up the voting record, and in some cases financial disclosures. VoteSmart has a Political Courage Test which virtually no major candidate of either party has taken. Thus, nearly every candidate will have "Lacks Courage" under his or her name. Is this an indictment of all candidates of both parties, or is it more an indictment of VoteSmart? We'll leave that question for our readers to decide.

For the 2012 POTUS election, VoteSmart offers a tool known as VoteEasy which asks you to answer 20 questions about various issues and rank their level of importance to you. Based on your answers, the algorithm will pick one or more candidates who supposedly most closely align with your position on the issues. How reliable is it? All I will say is run it and judge for yourself. I certainly would not stake my voting position on VoteEasy, but it can be valuable as a starting point.

The VoteSmart site does a very good job with highlighting voting records of those candidates who have House or Senate experience. It also goes to the state and municipal levels, though not as comprehensively.

Cross-Referencing VoteSmart, Senate and House Sites

The easiest way to vet a candidate with House or Senate experience running for re-election or for POTUS is to first use Project VoteSmart. This is because VoteSmart will pull up the voting record associated with a candidate. If a candidate voted a certain way on a piece of legislation that you determine warrants further investigation, you can go to the appropriate site and search on the legislation to read its text. By doing this, you can see if the candidate in fact "flip-flopped" or found an amendment to a bill or act objectionable.

State and Municipal Offices

State and municipal records are much harder to track down than House and Senate records. Each state and city site has its own quirks and there will be a learning curve in accessing them. As the offices get smaller in scale, the records get more scarce. Some states and cities may not have this information online, making vetting a real chore.

Still, the procedure is similar to the federal offices. In New York State, all legislation sponsored by a state Senator or a State Assembly member is available online. The same is true for the New York City Council. But, finding how these elected officials voted on legislation they did not sponsor is very difficult. Sponsored legislation should give you enough information to make a reasonable assessment.

Here are some examples using New York State and New York City:

New York City Council: use the advanced search. You can find sponsored legislation, by picking the council member's name off the drop-down menu and it's organized by first name first.

Executives: Governors and Mayors

Executives sign and veto legislation, thus they have a "voting record." Visit the state gubernatorial website and the city's mayoral site where the official served. Executives do more than sign and veto legislation, however. The governor is the president of a state and the mayor is the president of a city. Executives fill appointed positions, administer budgets, and manage crises. A governor has ultimate command over the state's National Guard units and the state police. A mayor has ultimate command over a city's police and fire departments. Executives sign ceremonial proclamations. Don't pooh pooh these. Just ask any sitting or prior executive how riled up a voting bloc gets if a pertinent proclamation is forgotten or omitted one year. These proclamations reflect somewhat on issues that may be important to the executive. Everything matters when vetting, even those items that on the surface appear petty.

When you vet someone who has executive experience, you need to look beyond "voting record" - legislation signed and vetoed - to consider all facets of the executive's job and how well he or she performed in these areas. Gov. Palin's accomplishments throughout her life, for instance have been thoroughly compiled and continue to be updated. The point in using Gov. Palin's accomplishments for this exercise is not to compare others to her, but to see the various aspects of what an executive does.

Using New York State as the example again, here is the list of Governor Andrew Cuomo's signed legislation, and Gov. Cuomo's initiatives, including budgets. Here is Project VoteSmart's Key Issues Summary on Gov. Cuomo. There are a fair number of bills vetoed, and you can see he used the line item veto on a budget vote. I learned something new writing this. I had no idea my home state has the line item veto.

New York City's Mayor, Michael Bloomberg does not list legislation signed or vetoed, but he does list his accomplishments, issues that matter to him, and his executive orders.

While state and city sites are excellent resources for sitting executives, finding the accomplishments of a prior governor or mayor will require some real digging, because much of that information is archived.

Google (or Bing, or whatever) is Your Friend

For instance, just on a Google search, I saw that my councilwoman, Deborah ("Debi") Rose received the endorsements of Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and NOW and is favorably predisposed to the Working Families Party. She is a hard leftist and her sponsored legislation (mainly resolutions) confirms that. All this came up without my even having to open the links, but I could see the links themselves were authoritative. Using a search engine is a good supplementary tool for vetting voting records.

It is incumbent upon us to properly vet candidates running for all elective offices so that we can make informed decisions based on facts. In less than 60 days, Gov. Palin taught us - her supporters - some hard but valuable lessons in politics and life. Gov. Palin has often said that our support of her was not so much about her per sé but about her common-sense Constitutional Conservative message. With her decision to not seek the 2012 GOP nomination, Gov. Palin taught us that no person alive is indispensable - not even the best the person for the job - and not even once-in-a-lifetime leaders. She taught us that we cannot always get what we want and we need to adapt to changing circumstances. As much as she asked us to trust her vis-á-vis her decision, Gov. Palin asked of us something even more difficult: to think for ourselves, to make informed decisions, and to trust in ourselves. If Gov. Palin is the Mamma Grizzly and we are her cubs, consider this as the Mamma Grizzly teaching her cubs how to hunt and survive.

Purpose

This series is not about strictly about the 2012 POTUS race. The purpose of this series is to provide you as a voter with the tools to make a more informed decision on all elections moving forward and for all offices from city council all the way to POTUS.

Due Diligence

In the business world, investors go through a procedure known as "due diligence" to determine if a corporation or a project is worthy of investment and worth putting their money to risk. The principals in a venture or the officers of company seeking financing are also personally vetted to give investors some assurance that nothing untoward will happen with their money. Vetting candidates is our conduct of due diligence, and even in this era of heightened political awareness, involvement and activism, few voters actually do it. Ignorance of how to vet, and voter apathy are the two most likely reasons. When voters believe that there is no fundamental difference between any set of candidates in a race, many will simply not bother voting, much less vetting. Voter apathy leads to the election of precisely the kind of people we don't want in office and it becomes a vicious cycle."People get the kind of government they deserve." If we don't vet candidates and a flawed candidate gets the job, we have no one else to blame but ourselves. If we sit on the sidelines out of disgust and the candidate we don't want gets elected, whose fault is it? Our actions in elections at all levels of government have consequences.

Voter Vetting vs. Professional Vetting

Voter vetting is nowhere near as exhaustive as the professional vetting that candidates seeking endorsements or campaign support undergo. The vetting of Gov. Palin by the McCain campaign cost over $50,000. Candidates seeking Gov. Palin's endorsement also undergo professional vetting, which costs thousands of dollars. Gov. Palin's careful and disciplined approach to endorsements was responsible at least in part for the 68% success rate in her 81 endorsements of 2010 with an astounding 90% for the Take Back the 20 subset.The average voter will probably never vet any candidate to this level, but several free tools are available to help voters make a more informed decision and we'll discuss them in the next installment.

Beefs and Endorsements

Speaking of endorsements, be aware that personal beefs may influence a politician's endorsement decisions. For instance, a co-worker told me that my former Borough President Guy Molinari has a running feud with Newt Gingrich that is over two decades old. Molinari recently referred to Gingrich as being "evil" and likely will not be at Staten Island Gingrich event December 3 so as to avoid a confrontation that could reflect on the Romney campaign. Molinari endorsed Mitt Romney and will have a leadership role in Romney's New York primary campaign. My Congressman, Michael Grimm is a long-time friend of Molinari's and looks to him as his mentor. Grimm endorsed Romney, much to the consternation and dismay of his conservative base.Voters outside Staten Island may be unaware of the animosity between Molinari and Gingrich, but it may be a factor in local voters' decisions, and it could ripple down to other well-known local politicians' endorsements of a 2012 POTUS candidate.

Poor Vetting Practices

Having campaigned for two Congressional candidates and the McCain-Palin campaign, I have come face-to-face with some of the most shallow and ridiculous reasons why people choose a candidate, with the top three being: physical attractiveness, the sound of the candidate's voice, and the candidate living in the same neighborhood/city as the voter. Some people pick candidates just on hunches. Some people are completely ignorant as to which candidate has which platform and vote based on what they don't know. Shock jock Howard Stern went into a Manhattan neighborhood and recited the McCain-Palin campaign platform to people on the street. To a one, the interviewees thought the platform was Obama's! Other people pick candidates based on sound-bites they hear on radio and TV, YouTube videos, or juicy one-liners in the paper or on the web. Some will take the time to read campaign materials, but go no further.If we are to improve our government at all levels, we as voters need to do much better than this!

Campaign Materials Are the Starting Point - Not the End

Many voters go to a campaign website or brochure and if they like what they see, vote on that basis. Campaign materials are always self-serving for the candidate - any candidate - for any office. Reading campaign materials exclusively to form a decision is a poor voting practice.As a voter, what you want to get from campaign materials is the candidate's stated position on various issues. Knowing the stated position, if the candidate has served in office prior, you will want to examine the candidate's voting record and we'll examine how to do that in the next installment.

Be Careful with Special Interest Groups

When vetting candidates, you want to rely on non-partisan, official, unbiased, and authoritative sources. Be careful with special interest groups or political organizations including Tea Party Groups. Remember, there is no political party on any ballot called "Tea Party." Gov. Palin on Hannity: "Endorsement Not Worth Hill of Beans," No Regrets

"Today, my personal endorsement doesn't amount to a hill of beans. I have great respect for the wisdom of the American people," former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin tonight said during a two-segment interview on Sean Hannity's TV show from her home in Wasilla, Alaska. Gov. Palin also said she has the fire in her belly, but no regrets about her 2012 POTUS decision and said, "we have a good slate of candidates. We have to back a Constitutional Conservative." No mention was made of the Conservatives4Palin Reconsider advertisement.

Hannity repeated his question about endorsing a candidate prior to the Iowa Caucus, which is now 32 days away. "I honestly don't think a pundit's endorsement and their personal opinion amount to a hill of beans," Gov. Palin said. When asked if she was leaning toward endorsing a particular candidate, she said, "I am leaning toward endorsing a candidate who is the antithesis of Obama." She added that no person who has served in Congress can legitimately make the claim that he or she cut budgets.

Hannity asked Gov. Palin if she thought the race was now down to Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney. She said no and added that other candidates such as Rick Santorum also have messages that should be heard. Gov. Palin noted that Santorum has been consistent on the sanctity of life, Israel and other issues. She lauded Rick Perry's defense of the Second Amendment and Ron Paul's domestic policies, though she disagrees strongly with his foreign policy. "All are infinitely better than Barack Obama because they know we cannot survive the status quo.

Gov. Palin said it was good that Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich were "going back and forth," but said it was important that they not "lose focus which is to make sure Obama is not re-elected." She said the candidates should provide sudden and relentless reform to clean up the crony capitalism that now infests Washington, D.C.

The first segment of the interview focused on the allegations of sexual harassment and affairs swirling around the Cain campaign. "If Herman did not screw around on his wife and give money to some broad on the side...if she made false allegations, it is despicable. If he did it, boys will be boys, but there is no room for a boy in the White House," Gov. Palin said.

"I have had people swear on Bibles that they had affairs with Todd or me that never happened....Whether he likes it or not, he is guilty until proven innocent. He should have her show the proof," she said. During his interview with Gov. Palin and with Herman Cain before her, Hannity said that hotels, airline tickets, and tickets to venues would be easy to prove and many of these places have video surveillance. Gov. Palin said that these allegations are a distraction that causes money to dry up and the candidate to make no further progress. Though Gov. Palin is resolute in her 2012 decision, Cain is reconsidering his campaign, and he promised to announce one of three possible dispositions of his campaign by next Monday: continue, suspend, or terminate it.

Gov. Palin and Hannity discussed the double standard whereby taking gratuitous swipes at conservative blacks and conservative women is considered fine, but calling Obama out on his past associations is "racist."

Like the prior interview, Gov. Palin was seated before her operating fireplace, giving the feeling of a Fireside Chat. Hannity quipped that her Christmas tree needed more decorations and Gov. Palin said she have her daughter Piper get on it.

Loughner never saw SarahPAC ad which contained 20 cross hairs representing the 20 districts in which sitting Congressmen and women were "targeted" to be voted out. The campaign known as "Take Back the 20" was highly successful: 18 out of the 20 candidates Gov. Palin endorsed were elected.
Loughner did not like or watch the news.
Loughner did not listen to talk radio.
Loughner had a years-long personal obsession with Giffords.
Loughner was known by many in his circle to be mentally unstable.
Loughner was a leftist and probably would not have been positively predisposed to Gov. Palin.

Mamie Eisenhower's Pumpkin Chiffon Pie

Ingredients:

1 env. plain gelatin

4 tbsp. cold water

1 cup brown sugar

3 eggs, separated

1/2 cup milk

1-1/2 cups canned pumpkin

2 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. ginger

1/4 tsp. allspice

3 tbsp. granulated sugar

1 baked 9" Pie Shell

Directions:

Soak gelatin in water for about 5 minutes. Combine brown sugar, egg yolks, milk, pumpkin, salt and spices in top of double boiler. Cook over boiling water, stirring until thickened. Remove from fire. Add gelatin, stir until thoroughly dissolved. Chill until mixture begins to set. Beat egg whites quite stiff; gradually add sugar while continuing to beat until stiff. Fold the meringue into pumpkin mixture. Pour into baked pie shell and chill until set.

Congressional Corruption: As Old as the Republic

Any Palinista worth his or her salt knows that one of Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's missions is rooting out crony capitalism and corporate welfare in Washington, D.C. Throw them All Out, by Peter Scheweizer - Gov. Palin's foreign policy adviser - focuses on Congressional insider trading, a practice that is illegal for the rest of us. Recall that a perjury conviction related to insider trading infamously earned home-making guru Martha Stewart time in the federal pen. Congressional insider trading is only one of numerous Congressional sins. In 1988, as the Reagan administration drew to a close, the Heritage Foundation undertook a five-year study of Congress, resulting the publication of The Ruling Class: Inside the Imperial Congress by Eric Felten in 1993. The Ruling Class is an expose on the inner workings of Congress and also suggests several ways to reform our legislative branch - all of which have been discussed, but none of which left the dream stage.

How Crony Capitalism Works

Gov. Palin has spoken numerous times about the federal debt ceiling. Ruling Class, Chapter One, which is titled "Sleight of Hand" explains precisely how the debt ceiling is raised automatically: House Rule XLIX (59). As Felten pointed out, the need to raise the debt ceiling is rather embarrassing. Not wanting to be held accountable for voting in favor of raising the debt ceiling, this piece of stealth legislation lets Congress do it without actually being voted on. Remember "deemed to have been voted on" - the trick some Democrats wanted to use to pass ObamaCare? Same principle here.

When the $787 billion stimulus was passed, Gov. Palin noted that many in both houses of Congress never read the bill. Many conservatives were likewise shocked when Nancy Pelosi declared about ObamaCare, "we're not going to know what's in it until we pass it." Actually, it's not shocking at all. This is routine practice in Congress. Our Senators and Representatives don't write legislation. Their staffs do it for them. Our legislators do not even read what was written for them either.

Ruling Class also outlined how Congressional hearings amount to little more than bullying to benefit a special interest group that successfully lobbied a Senator or Representative. Felten referred to these proceedings as a "Barnumocracy," and history is replete with them.

Another Congressional abuse is "regulation negotiation" or "reg neg," where lobbyists are directly involved with law-making. In a typical reg neg, the interested parties agree with a federal agency not to challenge a regulation in court. Felten described how Marriott Hotels strongly favored the Americans with Disabilities Act and worked to influence its passage. Marriott had already been designing its properties to be accessible for the prior 10 years. Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act cost Marriott nothing, but cost its competitors many millions of dollars. Thus, passage of the ADA worked to Marriott's advantage. Reg neg is one of the underpinnings of crony capitalism.

The Commons, Spending, Debts, and Deficits

According to Felten, our current woes with national debt and deficit spending are rooted in how both parties conduct business in both houses of Congress. Federal budgeting works in a manner similar to pasturing cattle on public commons. Eventually, too many cattle over-burden and deplete the commons. Because constituents and special interest groups have grown addicted to legislative pork without paying their fair share, the demand for services only increases. The result is more federal bloat, over-spending, debt, and deficits.

Felten also revealed that spending "cuts" are little more than a Congressional shell game, in which the "current services baseline" is raised, then "cut." This practice is akin to a store normally selling an item for $100, raising the price to $150, then offering a special sale promotion of $125.

Felten also asserted that re-election has become a machine-driven process in both Houses. Felten even wrote about crony capitalism, only he referred to it as "the favor factory."

As Old as the Republic...

Congressional corruption is as old as our Republic and "...has no party, no ideology and no gender," says Constitutional Scholar Alan Baker. "It's bipartisan and soaked in history and tradition. It also often defies logic."

While it is theoretically possible to throw the entire House of Representatives out every two years, only one third of the Senate is subject to election in any given cycle. Incumbents enjoy a strong re-election advantage. "Throwing out" often becomes a case of "Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss."

"We're talking about a culture of 'I'm better than everyone else' and 'I don't have to answer to anyone,'" says Baker. "It is pervasive and it has been part of the Congressional culture for a long time. You may hear a lot of talk about accountability and reform, but it simply is not happening."
Even when a new member of Congress arrives in Washington, full of idealism about doing a good job, he or she is soon sucked into the system.

This could explain why at least two of Gov. Palin's endorsees who ran on a Reagan-Conservative platform are backing Mitt Romney. They got sucked into the GOP establishment. Why else would they back a candidate who has been running for over six years, consistently polls at around 22%, and does not appeal to the party's base?

Political Corruption in America: An Encyclopedia of Scandals, Power and Greed, by Mark Grossman covers all of it since there was a Congress, but at nearly $200, the book is not likely to land on many shelves. An abridged version is available as a free Google eBook.

The Almanac of Political Corruption, Scandals, and Dirty Politics, by Kim Long also claims to cover 300 years worth of skullduggery and at $14 is more within the average person's reach. Inside Congress: The Shocking Scandals, Corruption and Abuse of Power Behind the Scenes on Capitol Hill, by Ronald Kessler focuses heavily on sex scandals, before addressing other malfeasance. This is also an expensive read coming in at nearly $125.

Of course, crony capitalism, patronage, corruption, and scandals have infected the executive and legislative branches at federal, state and local governments since time immemorial. Tammany Hall ruled New York for over 100 years. I remember when Queens Borough President - Donald Manes - committed suicide while his huge corruption scandal involving the Parking Violations Bureau erupted. And, two generations of Daleys treated Chicago to a tour de force of graft and corruption.

Reforming Congress Requires an Act Of Congress, and More

Felten's proposed reforms for Congress included: term limits, the line item veto, session limits, spending limits, removing Congressional exceptions to laws passed, subject Congress to Freedom of Information Act, "end the Constituent Service Racket," establish fair and open procedures, and cut committees.

These are all lofty reforms. Unfortunately, reforming Congress in many cases requires - well - an act of Congress. Reforms such as term limits, the line item veto and subjecting Congress to its own laws likely require a Constitutional Amendment. President Reagan repeatedly called for a line item veto throughout his administration, but it never materialized. When Sarah Palin was Alaska's governor, she did have the line item veto and used it with telling effect. Subjecting Congress to its own laws would resolve the entire issue of Congressional insider trading which is what Schweizer delineated in Throw them All Out.

Gov. Palin's Role in Reform

Since the founding of our republic, no one from inside the political establishment of either party has been able to root out any of these abuses in the federal Congress. Will Gov. Palin be able to do it as an outsider private citizen? Only time will tell and history will be the judge over the many election cycles this could play out. Gov. Palin, of course has a proven record as a reformer throughout her entire political career. If she cannot do it, most likely nobody can.

The future, how Gov. Palin will pursue ending political abuses, and her very destiny remain uncertain. Conservatives - not just Palinistas - are yearning for today's Ronald Reagan.

Today's Reagan very much exists, but she is not pursuing a formal title.

You signed my heart in Pennsylvania.” She smiled…I could tell she remembered. “I like your buttons,” she said. But…I saw her looking at the Palin Power button, I had been selling. Pointing to the button, I said, “Today, I prototyped this one. And I will be giving it to you in the gift box. It is yours.” “Thank you,” Governor Palin said. It was time to leave….I turned back….”It was nice to see you again” — followed by a pregnant pause — “my President.” She ended the conversation with a final thank you and I took my signed books.

That day, I got to meet: Chuck and Sally Heath, Trig Paxson Van Palin, Jason Recher, and two of my authors: Adrienne Ross and Kristina Lazzaro, among several other friends and colleagues. Many things changed over these past two years, but my final two words to Gov. Palin this day are not among what's changed.

Todd Palin to Race in 2012 Iron Dog

Four-time Iron Dog Champion Todd Palin will partner with Eric Quam, forming Team 11 in the 2012 Iron Dog, according to Alaska News. Palin and Quam came in second place for this year's Iron Dog, when Palin's snow machine sustained damage during the final leg of the race. He bungee corded the damaged left ski back to the machine and came in second by only 6:51. The first five places are considered wins with first being the champion. Todd Palin has raced in 21 Iron Dogs. Racers over the 2,000-mile course reach speeds of 80 mph or more in temperatures that drop to -70 Fahrenheit, and often in whiteout blizzard conditions.

Gov. Palin on Hannity: No Regrets, No Endorsements

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin tonight said she has "no regrets" about not seeking the 2012 GOP nomination and "can shake it up better from outside with Peter Schweizer and my PAC" in a two-segment interview on Sean Hannity's TV show from her home in Wasilla, Alaska. Gov. Palin would not endorse a particular candidate, however, she said the GOP nomination will be "Romney versus the non-Romney," with various candidates shifting front-runner position as the "non-Romney." Gov. Palin was seated by her fireplace which was operating, giving the feeling of a Fireside Chat.

Gov. Palin said it is very important that all the candidates be vetted so that the mistake that led to Obama's election would not be repeated. She also said voters should not be distracted with minor issues and gaffes that may reflect the idiosyncrasies of candidates running for office.

When asked about Newt Gingrich's rise in the polls, Gov. Palin said she was not surprised since "he's done so well in debates and balanced budgets during the Clinton Administration," but advised that Gingrich and all the other candidates should read Peter Schweizer's Throw Them All Out. About Romney, Gov. Palin said he has six years of experience as a candidate and has held steady with his numbers, which rest at 22%. She cautioned that the GOP nominee will have have a formidable foe with Obama who will have a $1 billion war chest and 90% of the lamestream media on his side.

Gov. Palin expressed her outrage at the violence being committed by Occupy protesters and the support of these protesters by Obama, Biden, and Pelosi. "These folks are ill-informed...misguided. I think it's atrocious what's going on," she said. Gov. Palin agreed with Hannity that Obama has inspired the protesters. "The Office of the Presidency has the power of word. This is getting out of control, this Occupy Wall Street, these shenanigans," Gov. Palin said. "He'll lecture us on words we should use. This is actual violence!"

Occupy "could become a campaign issue. The hypocrisy is glaring. Obama is perpetuating class warfare." Gov. Palin said the protesters should be angry about things like Solyndra, and crony capitalism. They should be directing their anger to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., she said. "For shame they are not angry at what is going on. Peter Schweizer is revealing graft, corruption. We cannot afford afford to continue this...our country is going bankrupt," she said.

"2012 is important not just for the Presidency, but the House and 33 Senate seats, and not just American Exceptionalism, but ethics," Gov. Palin said.

Mark Twain famously wrote, "There is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress." Peter Schweizer's new book, "Throw Them All Out," reveals this permanent political class in all its arrogant glory. (Full disclosure: Mr. Schweizer is employed by my political action committee as a foreign-policy adviser.)
Mr. Schweizer answers the questions so many of us have asked. I addressed this in a speech in Iowa last Labor Day weekend. How do politicians who arrive in Washington, D.C. as men and women of modest means leave as millionaires? How do they miraculously accumulate wealth at a rate faster than the rest of us? How do politicians' stock portfolios outperform even the best hedge-fund managers'? I answered the question in that speech: Politicians derive power from the authority of their office and their access to our tax dollars, and they use that power to enrich and shield themselves.
The money-making opportunities for politicians are myriad, and Mr. Schweizer details the most lucrative methods: accepting sweetheart gifts of IPO stock from companies seeking to influence legislation, practicing insider trading with nonpublic government information, earmarking projects that benefit personal real estate holdings, and even subtly extorting campaign donations through the threat of legislation unfavorable to an industry. The list goes on and on, and it's sickening.
Astonishingly, none of this is technically illegal, at least not for Congress. Members of Congress exempt themselves from the laws they apply to the rest of us. That includes laws that protect whistleblowers (nothing prevents members of Congress from retaliating against staffers who shine light on corruption) and Freedom of Information Act requests (it's easier to get classified documents from the CIA than from a congressional office).
The corruption isn't confined to one political party or just a few bad apples. It's an endemic problem encompassing leadership on both sides of the aisle. It's an entire system of public servants feathering their own nests.
None of this surprises me. I've been fighting this type of corruption and cronyism my entire political career. For years Alaskans suspected that our lawmakers and state administrators were in the pockets of the big oil companies to the detriment of ordinary Alaskans. We knew we were being taken for a ride, but it took FBI wiretaps to finally capture lawmakers in the act of selling their votes. In the wake of politicos being carted off to prison, my administration enacted reforms based on transparency and accountability to prevent this from happening again.
We were successful because we had the righteous indignation of Alaskan citizens on our side. Our good ol' boy political class in Juneau was definitely not with us. Business was good for them, so why would they want to end "business as usual"?
The moment you threaten to strip politicians of their legal graft, they'll moan that they can't govern effectively without it. Perhaps they'll gravitate toward reform, but often their idea of reform is to limit the right of "We the people" to exercise our freedom of speech in the political process.
I've learned from local, state and national political experience that the only solution to entrenched corruption is sudden and relentless reform. Sudden because our permanent political class is adept at changing the subject to divert the public's attention—and we can no longer afford to be indifferent to this system of graft when our country is going bankrupt. Reform must be relentless because fighting corruption is like a game of whack-a-mole. You knock it down in one area only to see it pop up in another.
What are the solutions? We need reform that provides real transparency. Congress should be subject to the Freedom of Information Act like everyone else. We need more detailed financial disclosure reports, and members should submit reports much more often than once a year. All stock transactions above $5,000 should be disclosed within five days.
We need equality under the law. From now on, laws that apply to the private sector must apply to Congress, including whistleblower, conflict-of-interest and insider-trading laws. Trading on nonpublic government information should be illegal both for those who pass on the information and those who trade on it. (This should close the loophole of the blind trusts that aren't really blind because they're managed by family members or friends.)
No more sweetheart land deals with campaign contributors. No gifts of IPO shares. No trading of stocks related to committee assignments. No earmarks where the congressman receives a direct benefit. No accepting campaign contributions while Congress is in session. No lobbyists as family members, and no transitioning into a lobbying career after leaving office. No more revolving door, ever.
This call for real reform must transcend political parties. The grass-roots movements of the right and the left should embrace this. I know you think your protest is cool and it must feel good to actually do something but you need to take a step back and re-think this whole occupy thing.

It's really stupid.

We're all for reform too but you gotta realize that there is a right way to make your point and there is a wrong way to make your point.

You probably don't believe in right and wrong. You seem eager to worship at the altar of the George Soros Open Society rather than live and let live as in Margaret Thatcher's Free Society. (choices...people...choices)

It doesn't really matter though because...well..because you are wrong.

Your dirty little protest has achieved nothing but rape, murder, suicide, robbery, tuberculosis, public masturbation, and yes...crabs.

While all of you over educated, under employed, college brats were busy whining and stinking up the streets of America someone else was hard at work.

Sarah Palin adviser Peter Schweizer of the Hoover Institute didn't just stop bathing and feign outrage over bank bail-outs and DC corruption in a misguided attempt to be fashionable.

He did something really really radical.

He worked his butt off for two years analyzing and investigating how it is that congressional leaders make millions of dollars because they have access to information that peasants like us don't have.

And now less than 72 hours after the release of Mr. Schweizer's book, Throw Them All Out, our corrupt little leaders are running around trying to save their jobs.

Both chambers of Congress are frantically producing bills that will restrict our naughty legislators from making money off the information in the law-making activities they're engaged in.

This has happened in the last three days.

Peter Schweizer's Throw Them All Out has already done more in the name of actual reform than any protesting from selfish OWS punks and cry-babies.

And just think. Mr. Schweizer achieved this without raping anyone, exposing himself, shooting anyone, or infecting them with body lice (heck...now even the parasites have parasites - maybe the illegal Obamacare law covers Valtrex and Kwell?)

Funny how diligence and hard work pay off.

This is how it's done folks. This is the American way.

Gov. Palin Advises Candidates on Greta; No Endorsements or Picks

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin tonight offered advice for six of the declared candidates running for President in 2012 on Greta Van Susteren's On the Record from her home in Wasilla, Alaska. Gov. Palin did not endorse any candidate saying that the "the cream has not risen to the top." She did not pick a candidate most likely to defeat Obama in 2012 as Fox News had promoted on its website, and the subject of a reconsidered run never arose during the interview.

Gov. Palin said a candidate who most closely aligns with her values and articulates them best would earn her endorsement. The values she specifically mentioned include: "shifting the balance of power back to the people and adhering to the Constitution."

In what will likely be the "takeaway" from tonight's interview, Gov. Palin said she "would bring the rope" to hang former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky "from the highest tree if he were found guilty and convicted of child molestation charges." That statement was made in answer to Van Susteren's question about whether Gov. Palin agreed with former Senator Rick Santorum's position that Penn State should not be allowed to play in any bowl game. Gov. Palin said that "it was not the players' fault and they should not be made to suffer for having had a perverted coach."

About Herman Cain, Gov. Palin said "it sucks to be falsely accused," but also said Cain needs to candidly answer the questions being asked of him and acknowledged that his answers could be "a game-changer." She said Cain needs to get to the substance of the issues. Gov. Palin recounted that both she and her husband Todd have been falsely accused of having affairs.

Gov. Palin said Romney has been running for president for nearly six years now and has not seen a change in his polling numbers. She said he "needs to reach out to the Tea Party conservatives and explain his real and perceived flip-flops." She said voters seek authenticity and candidness.

Ron Paul "has very energized supporters....it's unfortunate he has been written off," Gov. Palin said adding that Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum have also been written off by the mainstream media. "He needs to keep doing what he is doing. He was only given 89 seconds to respond to questions. It's not fair, but his supporters need to be the ones to raise the issue, Gov. Palin said.

She said public disdain for Congress, especially with revelations of crony capitalism and pay-to-play are at least contributing factors in Santorum and Bachmman being written off. She added that if Congressmen and women are not fighting crony capitalism, people will perceive them as being part of it.

"[Newt Gingrich] needs to hang on to his hat. People are respecting his performance in debates and his knowledge of history," Gov. Palin said. She continued that his momentum in the polls makes him a target for media scrutiny and he needs to be prepared for it.

Gov. Palin said this election is not just about replacing Barack Obama, but who we replace him with. "Evidently, in this day and age, personal indiscretions don't matter, but jobs and economy are paramount. People need an explanation about solutions and proposals."

Fire Eric Holder

It’s tempting to get distracted with the horse race aspect of electoral politics during a primary season. But as pundits talk about “who’s up and who’s down” in the 24 hour news cycle, we must keep our eye on the ball with the Obama administration. They rely on distraction to skirt responsibility, but we’re going to hold them accountable for their corruption and incompetence.

When the stories about Operation Fast and Furious first broke, it sounded too crazy even for this administration.

Why would any government official with an ounce of common sense think it’s a good idea to facilitate the smuggling of thousands of guns into the hands of violent Mexican drug cartels? That’s what Operation Fast and Furious did.

You might think Eric Holder’s Department of Justice was setting up a sting operation in which our federal agents would swoop down and arrest the bad guys the minute the guns traded hands. But that’s not what happened. Eric Holder’s DOJ had American gun dealers sell weapons to “straw purchasers” tied to drug cartels without actually following the movement of the guns as they were then sold to Mexican drug lords. They apparently thought this so-called “gun-walking” operation would help them chart the path of gun smuggling, but they didn’t have a plan to actually control the weapons’ movements as the guns were allowed to “walk” into Mexico. All Holder’s DOJ did was arm violent criminals. What manner of fools do we have working in this administration? What’s next? Supplying nuclear weapons components to the Iranians so we can track their activities?

Fast and Furious isn’t just your typical government incompetence. This is a deadly tragedy. U.S. border agent Brian Terry was gunned down with weapons connected to Holder’s debacle. At least 200 Mexican citizens were also killed by criminals using Fast and Furious weapons. We can only imagine how many more people will be murdered by criminals our government armed.

When an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives blew the whistle on this operation, the DOJ leaked sensitive information about him to the press. This week, the former U.S. Attorney for Arizona, who was ousted in the wake of the scandal, admitted to being the leaker.

And where is President Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder in all of this? When did he first know about the operation? In his testimony to the House Oversight Committee on May 3, 2011, Holder stated, “I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks.” But the DOJ’s own documents prove that Holder had been receiving briefings on Fast and Furious for nearly a year before that date. In other words, our government’s top law enforcement official, Eric Holder, lied to the American public. He finally admitted this week to the Senate Judiciary Committee, “In my testimony before the House committee [on May 3], I did say a few weeks. I probably could have said a couple of months. What I said about a few weeks was inaccurate based on what happened.”

When the nation’s highest law enforcement official lies to the American people, he must go.

And if he claims that he didn’t lie, then how else do we explain this situation? He’s either lying or he’s so grossly incompetent and lazy that he didn’t read important life and death briefings from his deputy attorney general and didn’t know about this deadly operation run by people under him. So, which is it? Incompetent, lazy, or lying? No matter which explanation fits, he needs to go.

Holder conceded this week, “I have ultimate responsibility for what happens in the department.” He can prove it by resigning. And if he refuses to resign, then President Obama – with whom the bucks ultimately stop – can prove that he respects honesty, transparency, and accountability in his administration by firing Holder.

I stand with the members of Congress who are calling for Holder’s resignation. I stand with the family members of Brian Terry who are demanding transparency and accountability. Mr. President, where do you stand?

P.S. It can be argued that some elements of this scandal give the appearance of perhaps being intended to be used to infringe on our Second Amendment rights. I invite our President to correct concerned Americans if they’re wrong on this.

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's November 3 keynote speech helped raise over $900,000 for the Florida GOP, Ian Lazaran, Conservatives4Palin reported last night, sourced from Alex Leary of the St. Petersburg Times. According to both reports, the amount exceeds the $894,000 the Democrats raised in their entire third quarter. Gov. Palin's fund-raising keynote speeches have a 100% success rate - that is they earn money for those who host her 100% of the time. For instance, Gov. Palin's fund-raising speech before St. Stanislaus raised over $200,000 for the school.

Bob and Mark: AK Gov Parnell Wants to Gut ACES & AGIA

The Palin family's 15-year friends and sole supporters on the Alaskan airwaves - Bob and Mark - this week devoted over a half hour of one of their shows to Gov. Parnell's naked attempts to undermine and undo two of Gov. Palin's most significant accomplishments.

ACES

Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share (ACES) is a graduated tax system, whereby taxes on oil and gas revenues increase as the value of the resource increases - in the case of oil above $52 per barrel. A portion of this money goes into state savings and another portion is distributed to all Alaskans via the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD). Another point often missed when discussing ACES is that it contains a built-in incentive to explore and drill by levying little or no tax when these operations are being conducted. Tax credits are given to develop new infrastructure and reinvest in existing infrastructure.
ACES was developed with strong bi-partisan support to supplant the Petroleum Profits Tax. Governor Palin signed ACES into law on December 19, 2007. It is one of her signature accomplishments.
Gov. Parnell made a prior attempt to scuttle ACES during this year's legislative session. Despite his attempts to extort passage the repeal, the attempt died in the Alaskan State Senate. Governor Parnell - who literally thinks Alaskans and the state surplus are benefiting too much from ACES - is gearing up for another attempt in next year's legislative session according to Bob and Mark. On April 7, 2011 he bizarrely asked, “Really, how much [money] is enough?” referring to the money going into Alaska’s state surplus from taxes on oil and gas revenues derived from ACES.
Yes, unlike most other states in the union, thanks to Gov. Parnell's predecessor - Sarah Palin - Alaska has a surplus. In Bizarre: AK Gov. Parnell asks "How much $ is Enough" for Surplus, I wrote:

He operates on the fanciful notion that by doing away with ACES, the top three oil companies will drill and explore in Alaska. Those shilling for the oil companies rail about what a “horrible” place Alaska is to do business, yet Alaska has some of the lowest taxes and much better working conditions than most of the nations these companies find preferable. Since ACES became law in 2007, Alaska has seen an increase in the amount of energy industry jobs....
Gov. Parnell - who US for Palin supported under the mistaken notion that he would continue the Palin mandate - wants to forgo an estimated $8 billion in guaranteed income over five years on the fantasy that big oil companies will ramp up exploration. Meanwhile, the small independent operators who want to drill then ship through the pipeline are charged prohibitive tariffs by the pipeline owners - the big three oil companies.

AGIA

The Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA) is an initiative to build a 1,715-mile pipeline that would bring North Slope natural gas to Alberta, Canada for continued transport down to the Lower 48. The project was to be completed in 2019 and estimated to cost between $32 and $41 billion as of January 2010. It is to be the largest infrastructure project in the Western Hemisphere. For 30 years, this pipeline was nothing more than a pipe dream. As with ACES, Democrats and Republicans worked together under Gov. Palin's leadership to develop AGIA and make the pipe dream a pipeline.
Gov. Palin signed AGIA into law on August 27, 2008 - two days before she was announced to the world as John McCain's VP candidate. The license was signed in December 2008, a month after the McCain campaign ended. TransCanada announced its open season in January 2010.
Nearly all Palin supporters agreed that the Obama administration was AGIA's worst enemy. US for Palin carries a graphic that illustrates the concern. Virtually no one considered that Gov. Palin's successor would be the one most actively trying to undermine her accomplishments. According to Bob and Mark, Gov. Parnell resurrected a three-decade-old hare-brained scheme and took "credit" for it being his own. The scheme involves building a pipeline to a southeastern Alaska seaport, liquifying the natural gas, loading it on tankers and selling it to countries on the Pacific Rim. Because in his mind apparently, we don't need our own energy resources. Better to depend on other countries and sell ours off to his way of thinking.
When Obama tries to destroy projects like AGIA, we are not surprised, because he is a leftist, he is anti-energy independence and he is Gov. Palin's mortal enemy. Thus, we expect this behavior from him and his administration. In theory, Gov. Parnell was supposed to be a quiet Transactional Leader tasked with maintaining and preserving the Palin legacy if she were to become incapacitated or leave office prematurely. In Alaska, the campaign for Lieutenant Governor is separate from the gubernatorial candidate's. This means a governor might have a lieutenant with a different agenda and has no say in the selection of the lieutenant. As Gov. Palin's lieutenant, Parnell more or less functioned as her silent partner, but when he elevated office, then was elected to a full term, things changed.
Now, Gov. Parnell appears to be a man on a mission to destroy everything Gov. Palin has accomplished, return Alaska to the days of the Corrupt Bastards Club, and put the government back in the pockets of the big oil companies and against the citizens who elect officials to serve. With friends like Gov. Parnell, who needs enemies?
Bob and Mark often refer to Gov. Parnell as "Governor Jellyfish."
Jellyfish indeed.

The anti business policies of Barack Obama and the permanent political class have made it a cinch to talk to small business owners about the state of our country and our economy.

Oftentimes Mom and Pop small business's are willing to donate their products and/or services when they find out what we're doing, what we're working towards, and what we believe.

Just ask.

It's no surprise that small business owners have absolutely no desire to see America fundamentally transformed. Just like most Americans these small business owners instead seek the restoration of our magnitude, our benevolence, and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law.

Because Mom and Pop's believe in the power and the opportunity of a restored American free-market economy; many of them are eager to lend a hand to our cause and help get our message out to the body politic.

Just ask.

As we approach an unconventional election cycle we need to think outside of the box, call in a few favors, and circumvent the shackles that America's permanent political class use against us.

In Where Gov. Palin Leads We Shall Follow, I analyzed two paths the former Alaska Governor could take based on her Transformational and Servant Leadership characteristics. Bases of power and the contingencies that limit its extent build upon her leadership style. By understanding a specific power base Gov. Palin has been operating from since July 26, 2009, her statement that "you don't need a title to make a difference," in conjunction with her 2012 decision will immediately make perfect sense.

Steve L. McShane and Mary Ann Von Glinow who co-authored Organizational Behavior held that for power to exist, a person or group must be dependent on another person or group for something of value. The authors went on to describe the five power bases identified by John French and Bertrand Raven in 1959: legitimate, coercive, reward, expert, and referent. The four contingencies that determine the extent to which a given power base can be leveraged are: substitutability, centrality, discretion, and visibility.

Legitimate power is the power to influence others by position of formal authority or title. Each of the offices Sarah Palin held conferred a set of behaviors she could request of others and specific actions she had the authority to execute. President of the United States is the ultimate example of legitimate power, and is something Gov. Palin chose not to pursue at this time.

Reward and Coercive powers are straight-forward and most often spawn from legitimate power. Those who hold formal positions of power use both sticks and carrots to ensure compliance with their directives.

Expert power originates from within the person and is the ability to influence others by knowledge and skill sets they value. Gov. Palin is a subject matter expert on energy exploration, generation, transmission, and distribution, thus she has considerable expert power in this area.

Her Power is Referent...

McShane and Von Glinow define Referent Power as "the capacity to influence others based on the identification and respect they have for the power holder." David A. Victor and Monica C. Turner who edited Leadership Style and Bases of Power wrote that a leader has referent power when supporters desire to identify with and emulate the leader. "In referent power, the manager leads by example. Referent power rests heavily on trust," Victor and Turner wrote. Both McShane and Von Glinow and Victor and Turner concurred that referent power is a function of inter-personal skills and develops very slowly.

"Referent power is usually associated with charismatic leadership. Charisma is often defined as a form of interpersonal attraction whereby followers develop a respect for and trust in the charismatic individual," McShane and Von Glinow wrote.

Gov. Palin's referent power is a direct result of her Transformational / Charismatic and Servant-Leadership styles. Remember Vince Lombardi? Gov. Palin's referent power is what engenders the remarkable responses to her leadership, the winning of hearts and getting those hearts to follow her anywhere.

From ChangingMinds.org: “In wanting to be like these people, we stand near them, hoping some of the charisma will rub off onto us” (emphasis mine). Gov. Palin’s referent power is at the root of why for instance it took her two hours to walk 100 yards at the 2011 Iowa State Fair. All present wanted to be with her and to touch her in some way, as is the case at all her events.

Of the five power bases, referent power is the one in which you truly "don't need a title to make a difference." Since she is an accomplished Charismatic / Transformational and Servant Leader, Gov. Palin wields considerable referent power and she has been using it since she left office in July 2009. This is evidenced in how she shaped the debate on ObamaCare, the BP gusher, Quantitative Easing, Libya, and other matters. Her 67% overall success rate in 2010 with candidate endorsements is a function of referent power, as is the 90% success rate with the "Take Back the 20" subset.

In Where Gov. Palin Leads, I wrote,

"She may not be President of the United States, and may not be running – in the conventional sense of the term – but she is our Private Citizen President. We look to her for leadership and inspiration. If we take her October 5 announcement in isolation and at face value, Gov. Palin remains our Private Citizen President. Nothing has changed."

That is what referent power is all about. Gov. Palin does not merely have the potential to make a difference sans a formal title. She has already been doing it for over two years and continues to do so.

Referent power generates the desire to stand next to, and have some form of physical contact with the leader. Gov. Palin's supporters travel thousands of miles, spend thousands of dollars, and wait many hours to have their special moments with her. At this rally, Gov. Palin spent more time with her supporters than on her speech, walking the rope line twice - something no one in recent history has ever done.

Contingencies Limit The Extent of Power

Contingencies limit the extent to which power bases can be used. Substitutability refers to the availability of alternatives. Gov. Palin wields considerable power, because she is not substitutable. I have written innumerable times that she is a once-in-a-lifetime leader and I have expressed my utter disdain for the entire field of declared 2012 candidates.

This refers to her non-substitutability, however, Gov. Palin by once being a 2012 hopeful and choosing not to run, is not in a position to slam the entire field of candidates as being unsatisfactory. By staking that position, she would have to declare candidacy and seek the nomination. Gov. Palin said if she thought the field was unsatisfactory, she would run. Gov. Palin thus understands that slamming the entire field of candidates without running herself would be the pinnacle of absurdity. Her gracious statements toward these candidates do not alter the fact that there is only one Sarah Palin and there are no substitutes.

Centrality is the degree of inter-dependence between the power holder and others. Actions of a person with high centrality affect a great deal of people - sometimes at alarming speed. Centrality is associated with mission-critical jobs and jobs that involve significant responsibilities. Though she is a private citizen, Gov. Palin's referent power confers upon her a high degree of centrality and responsibility. Her words influence others to action. The leftists who tried to foist a blood libel ("inciting violence") upon her earlier this year knew this full well. A person wielding referent power at Gov. Palin's level could start a war. Witness William Randolph Hearst's "you provide the news and I'll provide the war." The Father of Yellow Journalism in fact used his referent power to start the Spanish-American War.

Discretion in the context of leadership theory is the freedom to make decisions and exercise judgment without permission from others and without referring to rulebooks. As a private citizen, Gov. Palin has nearly complete discretion or freedom - limited only by her own common-sense, experience, and professionalism.

When she spoke about the possibility of being shackled as a Presidential candidate with Greta Van Susteren, it was this lack of freedom to which she referred. As a candidate subject to the GOP establishment's rules, Gov. Palin's discretion would have been severely curtailed. This is true of all candidates, but Gov. Palin's track record for rooting out fraud and corruption in her own party put her in the establishment's cross hair. It was this contingency on pursuing legitimate power - POTUS - that at least in part may have driven her decision to not pursue it.

McShane and Von Glinow wrote, "Power does not flow to unknown people in the organization." Even those with legitimate power are effectively neutered by lack of visibility. It's easy to see why "unsung heroes" and "worker bees" have no power. Gov. Palin is an international household name, thus she is highly visible and this contingency is inoperative in her case.

Commanding Respect and Trust

By fully understanding Gov. Palin as a leader, her 2012 decision now makes complete and perfect sense. Being the perfect candidate for POTUS is necessary but insufficient for her leadership style. Lack of discretion/freedom is Kryptonite to any Transformational, Charismatic, and Servant Leader. Pursuing the legitimate power of POTUS most likely would have made the discretion contingency operative to the point of turning her campaign into a kamikaze mission for both herself and her supporters and ensuring an Obama victory.

Gov. Palin used her objective ego (a characteristic of Transformational and Servant Leadership). She did not lead us down a primrose path or blow smoke up our rear ends. Yes, we spent considerable time and treasure - of our own free will - over these past three years in the hopes that she would run. But, the voracious requirements of a Presidential campaign would have consumed the entire past three year's worth of time and treasure over again within a few short months. To knowingly have led us to certain failure would have been unconscionable. Yes, her decision was a heart-breaker for us, but running into certain failure would have been far worse. Broken hearts can be fixed (as long as they don't kill their owners), but broken trust cannot.

Gov. Palin most likely saw the severe contingency against pursuing the legitimate power of POTUS. She saw that she has considerable referent power - not needing a title to make a difference - with virtually no operative contingencies against it. Thus, Gov. Palin wisely chose to use and continue building her referent power instead.

Gov. Palin's decision commands even more respect, even more trust, and even more admiration among those who understand the principles of her leadership methods. The wisdom of her decision will become more apparent as both time and Gov. Palin march on.

American Crony Capitalism Brings Jobs to Finland

Yesterday, another shoe dropped in the chronicles of the Obama administration’s crony capitalism. A start-up electric car company with ties to Al Gore got a $529 million loan guarantee from Obama’s Department of Energy to build luxury electric cars...in Finland! Leaving aside the fact that to date only two of these $97,000 cars have been sold (one of them to a movie star), we might at least hope that this ridiculous exercise in the government picking winners minus any competitive, transparent process (Al Gore’s venture cap firm) and losers (the taxpayers subsidizing a car no one wants) would produce manufacturing jobs in the United States. Isn’t that the alleged purpose of Obama’s stimulus giveaways?
It’s bad enough that we borrow money from foreign countries to give to foreign countries. Now we borrow from foreign countries to finance jobs in foreign countries. (This kind of reminds me of the $2 billion assistance President Obama provided Brazil for their off-shore energy developments, while shutting down or blocking much of our own off-shore domestic drilling. He’s in favor of energy jobs in Brazil. But in America? Not so much.)
Do you think, as the President tours the country campaigning on the taxpayer’s dime, he understands that voters in Finland won’t get to decide whether or not he keeps his job in 2012, but voters in Michigan and Ohio sure will? In fact, I’m sure the millions of unemployed workers in every state will want to learn why the Obama administration gave half a billion dollars to finance “green” cars built in Finland.
While they’re at it, the geniuses in the White House could also explain the $1.2 billion they gave to SunPower, a company that makes Solyndra look like a blue chip stock. SunPower’s market capitalization is $800 million, but the company is in debt $820 million. What a great investment, huh? Your tax dollars at work, America! If President Obama wants answers about this, he better act fast because his Department of Energy was already caught revising history by scrubbing SunPower’s name out of old DOE press releases. The President should start by asking Democrat Congressman George Miller about the company. Rep. Miller was the leading advocate for giving money to SunPower, which hired his son as a lobbyist.
When President Obama signed his nearly trillion dollar stimulus boondoggle into law, he mortgaged our children’s future. And for what? Financing jobs in Finland? Propping up near bankrupt companies with connections to congressmen? For this we are burying ourselves in a mountain of debt?
This crony capitalism has to end. We don’t want it. We can’t afford it. And we must not tolerate it anymore. Wake up, America, before it’s too late.

Gov. Palin Discusses Gaddafi, 2012 Race on Hannity

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin tonight discussed the death of Libyan dictator Gaddafi and the 2012 presidential race on Sean Hannity's TV show from her home studio in Wasilla, Alaska. Gov. Palin said she is glad Gaddafi is gone, but emphasized the importance of ensuring worse, more tyrannical, terrorist regime does not take over. She also made note of the left's hypocrisy in praising Obama's Libya war while decrying President Reagan's airstrikes of 1986.

Shifting to 2012, Gov. Palin said she believed Herman Cain can keep his poll momentum going because he is not a politician, which is something people crave. "Herman Cain recognizes that it's the permanent political class that got us into this mess, and we don't need more of the same thinking that's going to be the solution," she said. While Gov. Palin praised Cain's authenticity, candor, and "getting the ball rolling on reforming taxes," she said corporate income tax foments crony capitalism and that is one aspect of his "9-9-9 Plan" she would change.

Hannity asked Gov. Palin about Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Rick Perry. "Newt has been in the trenches. He has seen it all. His, calm, cool, and collected demeanor bodes well in these debates, because he's not down in that junior high level of bickering back and forth with the other candidates. But he wants to stay at the 60,000-foot level and talk about solutions and address what the problem is. And the problem is obviously, Obama's socialist policies that are bankrupting this country," she said.

"Rick Santorum resonates, and he too can build some momentum," Gov. Palin said.

She said she wanted to hear more details about Rick Perry's flat tax proposal, which is based on the one Steve Forbes drew up nearly a decade ago.

When asked about the exchange between Rick Perry and Mitt Romney over the latter allegedly hiring an illegal immigrant, Gov. Palin said candidates should avoid pettiness and focus on solutions. She added that the debates are democracy in action and reveal characters.

Hannity asked Gov. Palin if she had any regrets about not running. Gov. Palin said she is satisfied with her decision. "I appreciate the role that hopefully I will be able to play and that is spurring discussion on how to spur economic growth in this country and very thankful - it seems like these Republican candidates are getting the ball rolling on talking about the solutions that so many of us want to be able to discuss with them," she said.

Keep Calm And Carry On.

This sensible rallying cry is conceivably more befitting today than it was a few short weeks ago. (NOTE TO SELF: Could one week in politics be like dog years?) The time between the Indianola speech and today seems like an eternity...

Reloading and moving forward with constructive goals is the best way to make sure our work continues.

For the past three years, both in public and in private, we've frequently talked about how this moment in history is not about Sarah Palin, or any one candidate.

This network, this movement, this crusade really always has been about creating and maintaining an engaged citizenry.

Someone will win the ~~Whig~~ GOP primary, and someone will win the 2012 presidential race.

Our country needs to be fixed. OBVI!

There's really only one way to put America back on the right track. And that is through an engaged citizenry. An engaged citizenry is key to effectively govern and pass an agenda of sudden and relentless reform.

Enthusiasm for the 2012 presidential race is up for grabs. With Sarah Palin not seeking the GOP nomination at this time, the focus has (wisely) shifted toward seizing the U.S. Senate.

Through an engaged citizenry we have a unique opportunity. The Republican Party is on the brink of a historic new dawn. Through our courage, our optimism, and our hard work, we can bring a significant invigoration to the party of Lincoln.

We have an opportunity to build a better future for all by taking up the gauntlet of resurrection and giving rebirth to the GOP.

In 2012, Democrats hold 23 of the 33 Senate seats that can be seized.

The bi-partisan animosity toward incumbents has only grown since the last election cycle.

If we work hard, and play our cards right we can look forward to even bigger gains in 2012.

1) We need to retain the House.

2) Come hell or high water we absolutely must seize the Senate.

3) We cannot lose focus and let presidential politics (via the LSM) dominate and exhaust all of our existence, our punch, and our energy.

Moving forward toward 2012 one thing is certain: We will see more political corruption. Political corruption in the media and political corruption in the permanent political class.

By keeping our determination and our commitment intact. We can advance, strengthen, and carry on as organized entities who work together toward the restoration of our founders values and principles--on every level of government.

By working together as an engaged citizenry we have the power to elect concrete and solid, constitutional conservative candidates who:

- Put country first.

- Understand that energy independence is the key element of our economic security and betterment that all Americans want and deserve.

- Believe in American Exceptionalism.

- Understand that American foreign policy should, above all, be founded in our national interest, and not the interests of others.

Let's stay calm, let's stay focused, and together let's restore America.

Bristol Sheeran Marie Palin, who was named after Bristol Bay was born October 18, 1990. The time of her birth unknown.

Bristol is a chip off the old block in terms of resilience, and accomplishments. What we have born witness to is nothing short of amazing. Bristol has in fact shared in some of her mother's accomplishments, accompanying Gov. Palin to Haiti; a key speech at the Long Island Association; Heroes Among Us and the White House Correspondents Dinner; and a major speech in Seoul, South Korea.

Bristol authored Not Afraid of Life with the help of Nancy French and conducted a small-scale book tour.

Bristol has over 55,000 Facebook friends and is closing in on 56,000.

She is a teen, women's issues and advocacy advocate through Single Source Speakers.

And...one year ago today, she celebrated her birthday by dancing the Jive in Week Five of Dancing with the Stars.

Bristol's birthday also falls out on Alaska Day.

On this day - Bristol's Birthday - in 2008, Gov. Palin performed a comedy routine with Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live.

Where Gov. Palin Leads We Shall Follow

In the days following former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's announcement that she will not be seeking the GOP nomination, I fell back on my MBA training from University of Phoenix Online. When dealing with political leaders everyone tends to focus on party and ideology, but virtually no one applies the principles of leadership theory. A solid understanding of Gov. Palin as a leader - totally divorced from the politics of left and right - is essential to aligning with her mission and strategies moving forward.

I have always written that Gov. Palin is a Transformational Leader, which includes Charismatic Leadership as a sub-component. Continued leadership contingent upon results and self-sacrifice are core behaviors of Transformational Leaders. These leaders also tend to move on once they have effected change; a Transactional Leader comes in behind them to maintain the new status quo. Kreitner and Kinicki's Organizational Behavior is a standard textbook used in MBA courses and discusses this leadership style at great length. US Air Force Colonel Mark Homrig provides a solid primer on Transformational Leadership for free and it is a must-read to understanding how Gov. Palin leads, and the brave new world she is leading us in.

Gov. Palin is also a Servant Leader to the core, for she has all 10 characteristics: listening, empathy, healing, self-awareness/objective ego, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, stewardship, commitment to the growth of people, and building community. Providentially, her first and married names define none other than Servant Leadership. Sarah means "princess" in Hebrew. Palin means "servant" in Welsh. Princess Servant. Servant Leader. Titles, Making Differences, and Hierarchies

Gov. Palin has said numerous times since resigning her governorship "you don't need a title to make a difference." She has proven the statement true over these past two years. Even so, Gov. Palin's announcement that she will not seek the 2012 GOP nomination broke many hearts and left many minds bewildered. While some dismiss this reaction as "childish," it's human nature. In an MBA paper I wrote that even new leadership methods such as self-directed teams are little more than hierarchies in disguise. In any human endeavor involving a group or organized effort, there can only be one leader. Even grassroots groups have leaders and hierarchies, sometimes morphing into machine bureaucracies.

We place stock in official titles, because those with legitimate power can request certain behaviors of others and are vested with the authority to undertake specific actions. The difference Gov. Palin can make as a private citizen is - well - different from the difference she can make as President of the United States. The conventional way of thinking cannot accept the difference she can make as a private citizen.

In Branded: The Underpinning of Support, I wrote:

In the hands of the wrong person, even the right message can be disastrously implemented. In these times, mediocrity does not cut it. We need a strong leader. We need a standard bearer. The person does matter.Judgment and discernment by definition cannot be programmed. You see, some qualities are completely apolitical and cannot be mechanized. Few people possess even one of them, much less all of them. These qualities are: integrity; leadership by example; keeping promises; executive experience; command experience; life experience; judgment; the right combination of toughness and sweetness; accomplishments; fortitude; the ability to keep confidences; a proven and vetted track record of success; a proven ability to withstand media scrutiny; people person; and impeccable character that inspires confidence and commands respect. Add to that list: proving to the world that a woman can do anything a man can do – and in many cases, do it better.
These qualities are about the person and Gov. Palin possesses every last one of them. That's what makes her the kind of leader you see only once in 75 - 150 years.

Nearly all dedicated Palinistas agree that the current field of Republican candidates is completely unsatisfactory. Why? There is no leader among them and none are worthy of the job. None of the 2012 candidates has even one of the qualities Gov. Palin possesses, much less all of them. This knowledge drives things like the Earthquake Movement and talk about drafting and write-in.

You Can't Solve Current Problems with Current Thinking...

If we are Gov. Palin's supporters, accepting that you don't need a title to make a difference is part of what we signed up for. We cannot consider ourselves her supporters and not accept this. Since we also know there can only be one leader in any human endeavor and we have been supporting Gov. Palin for over three years running, she is our leader. She may not be President of the United States, and may not be running - in the conventional sense of the term - but she is our Private Citizen President. We look to her for leadership and inspiration.

If we take her October 5 announcement in isolation and at face value, Gov. Palin remains our Private Citizen President. Nothing has changed.

One of my respected colleagues, Josh Painter presented a theory about the factors that could have driven Gov. Palin to not seek the 2012 GOP nomination. More specifically, Painter delineates precisely how and why Gov. Palin "running" - in the conventional way - could have been been a kamikaze mission for her. The GOP establishment was pulling chicanery with leapfrogging primaries among other skullduggery specifically to disadvantage Gov. Palin and favor RINOs like Mitt Romney.

Gov. Palin declining to seek the 2012 GOP nomination was not for lack of support. We've been egging her on for three years. She has received a huge volume of mail each day, much of it asking her to run, starting the night Obama was elected. Nor is money the issue. Some supporters started saving money in coin jars, shoe boxes and piggy banks three years ago. Many would not even donate to SarahPAC. They wanted the money to go to her campaign. Team Sarah has a large sub-group dedicated to campaign donation savings.

Unconventional Campaign?

Gov. Palin also said numerous times over these past three years that any campaign she runs would be unconventional - to the point that many supporters would be uncomfortable with it. She has been consistent in saying this, and she has referenced an unconventional campaign nearly every time the subject arose.

Consider the following: in her announcement of October 5th, Gov. Palin never said "I am not running for President." Read the transcript and listen to the audio. Gov Palin said she is not seeking the 2012 GOP nomination. I can parse words just like the old master himself. It could all depend on what the meaning of "is" is.

In Lynchburg, VA, Gov. Palin said she could not understand supporters who trust her "to be the leader of the free world, but who do not trust in her decision at this time." In Seoul, Gov. Palin said it was time for a woman to be President of the United States. I hardly think Michele Bachmann is the woman she referred to.

Could Gov. Palin's October 5 announcement have marked the beginning of the unconventional campaign about which she has spoken so many times? Could my heart-break at her announcement have been because the announcement went right over my head - along with everyone else's? My original headline appeared to indicate such. If so, it would be my best heart-break ever. Could Gov. Palin already be doing the very thing that people are trying to Earthquake her into doing?

Guerrillas defeated the British Redcoats to found our republic. Guerrillas fight unconventional wars. They also fight clandestine wars. Could Gov. Palin be running a clandestine unconventional campaign the likes of which have never been seen in US history?

I would be highly irresponsible to suggest as fact that Gov. Palin is currently running unconventionally for President. I would be blindly foolish to dismiss the clear signs suggesting the possibility. This is why "glassing the field" - picking up the binoculars and slinging the rifle - makes most sense. Sometimes, slow and steady wins the race.Only Gov. Palin, Todd, God, and maybe her closest staff know what she's doing. Given the mortal enemies in her own party and its inability to abide by its own rules, best it's left that way.

Where She Leads...

I began my analysis in Branded with a quote from Vince Lombardi:

“It is essential to understand that battles are primarily won in the hearts of men. Men respond to leadership in a most remarkable way and once you have won his heart, he will follow you anywhere.”

Gov. Palin could remain our Private Citizen President or she could have already begun an unconventional campaign to run for President. Either way, she is leading us into a brave new world.

Her dedicated supporters have responded to her leadership in a most remarkable way.

O4P NY: We're Aligned with Gov. Palin's Mission

Immediately following former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's announcement that she will not seek the 2012 GOP nomination, I temporarily suspended Organize4Palin's New York state operations. The simple reason for this is that O4P in its current form was oriented toward supporting a Palin presidential candidacy following conventional primary and caucus rules. A time-out is required to align the organization with Gov. Palin's strategies that support her mission moving forward.

Gov. Palin's Vision and Mission

We know that Gov. Palin's vision is Sudden and Relentless Reform. We know that her mission is to root out crony capitalism and corporate welfare; enforce the Constitution - specifically the Second and Tenth Amendments; make the United States energy independent with an "all-of-the-above" approach; revive, renew, restore Reagan Conservatism and American Exceptionalism; restore our economy following a five-point plan; and set forth a five-point military policy moving forward.

Strategies

Anyone who has at least some basic knowledge of Gov. Palin's career over these past 20 years knows that her vision and mission has been fundamentally the same throughout. Perhaps the size, scale, and scope of what her mission focused on at key milestones of her career differed, but her overall vision and mission have been consistent.

Since July 2009, Gov. Palin has been an author, Fox News contributor, public speaker, documentary producer and was the subject of a movie. We could broadly classify these disciplines as "Constitutional Conservative Advocacy," and she has been doing it as a private citizen now for over two years running. Seeking the 2012 GOP nomination is one strategy that Gov. Palin could have used - and could still use - in service of her mission. She has decided not to use this strategy - at this time - language that comes straight out of her speech in Lynchburg, VA.

Aligning Her Mission...

In the days that followed, I polled the volunteers and Regional Coordinators who comprise O4P NY. My questions were directed at determining their understanding of Gov. Palin's mission, the current strategy she has chosen to support it and their position on drafting and write-in campaigns.

I made it clear that O4P is not legally setup as a draft committee, thus any drafting or write-in under the O4P name will violate FEC regulations. O4P members who wish to draft may do so as private citizens, but the O4P name absolutely cannot be used in connection with drafting. Randy Highsmith, FL State Coordinator once led the 2012 Draft Sarah Committee which was registered with the FEC as a draft committee. Because the 2012 Draft went defunct many months ago, there is no FEC-registered draft committee pertinent to Gov. Palin currently in existence.

Also, O4P cannot endorse any candidate Gov. Palin has not herself endorsed for the simple reason that the word “Palin” is in our name. Any endorsement or support of a candidate must be in connection with something Gov. Palin has sanctioned, approved, or authorized by putting her name on it.

I have made the decision that O4P New York will focus on Gov. Palin, her vision, mission, and her endorsements – that is operate exclusively under the O4P brand. This is based at least in part on the 64% of responses to my volunteer polling indicating alignment with Gov. Palin’s mission – seeking the GOP nomination or not. O4P NY must always be aligned with Gov. Palin’s mission and her strategies or it will be working at crossed purposes with her.

Sometimes, Slow and Steady Wins the Race

While our game is not off, many aspects of it are on a time out. The reasons for this are:

O4P cannot turn on a dime and significant changes in footing - reversion to the 2010 model of down-ticket endorsements as one possible example - would take time to implement. It’s just the nature of the beast when working with organizations.
O4P NY must always remain aligned with Gov. Palin's mission and O4P National's mission.
The language of Sarah’s announcement – not seeking the 2012 GOP nomination, her last three speeches, and the Sarah’s Earthquake movement present us with a unique situation and a whole host of things Gov. Palin could do or circumstances that could transpire in relation to her. Making radical changes based on impetuousness is not wise.

Yes, we must not retreat. Yes, we must reload. But, we don't just go off half-cocked. We do long-range recon before going into our next battle. Do the Heaths and Palins not "glass the field" on their moose and caribou hunts?

I think waiting, and observing is the most rational approach as opposed to making radical changes right now. This is a situation where slow and steady wins the race. Putting it another way, now is the time to sling the rifle and pick up the binoculars.

The dust has (sort of) begun to clear from the big earthquake that rocked the political landscape last week. Wow! Are there anymore earthquakes coming to America? We may need to brace ourselves a little bit...but not in the frame of our doorway. For these particular types of earthquakes we need to be GOING ROGUE and acting like Marines. We run TOWARD the danger.

Sarah Palin will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States...HUH?...I still don't get it.

To some of us, this moment in history may seem a tad undefined, a bit murky, or even risky. Be not afraid, this sudden turn of events really isn't that out of character for the Sarah Palin brand of modern, unconventional politics, and American restoration.

As our multi talented O4P-CA volunteer @TwoLegsGood pointed out the other day:

The writing on the wall, Lady Luck, destiny, kismet and yes providence all go hand in hand with our newly unleashed citizen leader.

There are no mistakes. There are no accidents. We have all been activated.

That is why we are here. That is why we have united. That is why we know in order for Governor Palin to lead effectively (with or without a title, with or without an office, and quite frankly with or without the GOP) she will need an engaged citizenry.

Not just any engaged citizenry. A united and engaged citizenry of independent warriors working together as reformers to restore the founding values and principles of our Republic at every level of government.

The battle for our civilization has begun.

As a sovereign individual; your participation, and your level of engagement is your choice. What do you feel driven to do?

O4P volunteers have stepped up to answer the call in many ways.

Many have been compelled to write letters and post cards to Sarah Palin about her recent decision.

Some feel encouraged to join the O4P phone team that reaches out to the electorate.

Even as you read this blog a number of O4P volunteers are behind the scenes brainstorming; discussing and batting around ideas for future projects. One idea (that is quickly rising to the top) is to have online summits. By frugally holding an online summit O4P volunteers from coast to coast can discuss ways to further develop our capacity to influence electoral results at all levels of government.

Buckle your seatbelts. The long haul starts now.

It's time to be honest, it's time to be optimistic, and it's time to be fearless.

Gov. Palin in Seoul: US Due for Woman President

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin yesterday told attendees of the World Knowledge Forum in Seoul, South Korea that the United States was due to have a woman as its president, according to the Washington Post. "There will be a woman president of the United States and I look forward to that day," she said. Gov. Palin did not discuss her political future or why she declined to seek the 2012 GOP nomination.
Gov. Palin said she hopes to see "regime change" in North Korea and the South rebuild the North.

According to an AFP report on Yahoo News, Gov. Palin also spoke about "China using its military influence in regional disputes."
She targeted political elites in the United States, Europe, and China, speaking out against crony capitalism and corporate welfare. The Chinese Communist party dictates to the Chinese what they can and cannot do and the European Union is dictating to to its member states, she said. In the United States, "political elites believe we just can't get along without them. Government officials like to push this idea because it gives them the opportunity to pick the economic winners and losers in our system... in other words, it gives them ultimate economic power," she said.
Gov. Palin hailed the role technology and social media plays in empowering individuals. "Technology has taken power away from central authorities and provided individuals with more choices. We are no longer living in a top-down world. Now we are living in a bottom-up world, from entertainment and information to education," she said.

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today explained to over 10,000 attendees of the Extraordinary Women Conference in Lynchburg, VA why she chose to place family ahead of political ambition, Sally Delta, ABC 13 reported. Gov. Palin reinforced her commitment to stay in politics and effectuate reform without an official title.

Gov. Palin said her years under the bright lights took their toll on her family and she wanted to re-establish normalcy in their lives. Team Sarah member Carolyn Dixon reported that she received a paraphrase in which Gov. Palin allegedly said, "you put your trust in me to run for president but you don't trust me when I seek God's direction on whether to run or not," about supporters who exploded in anger at her over the decision.

Many in the sold-out audience supported Gov. Palin's decision and agreed with it and many said she was the highlight of the entire day's event.

While there is an inherent sexism in Vince Lombardi’s quote, it’s forgivable. It was a man’s world then. When Vince Lombardi passed to the Great Beyond, Sarah Heath was six years old, so he never would get to see what a woman can do. Perhaps his spirit watched Gov. Palin in awe throughout her life doing things that have killed men twice her size. Vince Lombardi was the quintessential macho. Yet, for all his machismo, Vince Lombardi had quite a bit to say about hearts. If you read all his quotes, the conclusion is inescapable: absent heart, any effort undertaken is doomed to abject failure.

Loyalty and Commitment

Leadership and winning hearts is at the root of why I asked Gov. Palin to sign my shirt over my heart this day three years ago. While loyalty and commitment really originate in the brain, as do all emotions and feelings, the heart is their symbolic storehouse. Besides, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin does not perform brain surgeries to affix her signature on deep limbic systems.Loyalty, commitment, and political support are considered “heart-centered.” The purpose of having my shirt signed there was to symbolically vow my loyalty to Gov. Palin and her Reagan-Conservatism; to let her know that I have her back; that I would fight her battles alongside her; celebrate her successes and milestones; and that if she were to fail, I’d fail with her. This vow extends to Gov. Palin’s family, her staff, contractors, and vendors. By asking Gov. Palin to be a signatory to and executor of that pledge, it means I am personally accountable to honor it, even in bad times and even if I disagree with her on something. This commitment could not be made while asking her to sign a sleeve.

Branded

Those whose opinions matter – Gov. Palin; her husband, Todd; and my wife, Elsy – understand what I did at that rally and why I did it. Well, Elsy did not at first, but she finally did get it. We’ll be celebrating 15 years of marriage two months and a week from today. Elsy won’t admit it, but I think “that woman” is growing on her. Elsy gasped in horror when she heard the news that Gov. Palin is not running. Elsy felt a sharp pain - in her heart - for the woman she once hated.Anyway, I had the good fortune over these three years to meet Gov. Palin and members of her family several more times since this rally, as did members of the US for Palin staff.

The Underpinning of Support

“Emotional charge” and “heart” drives and underpins support. You cannot support someone who you are not fired up about. Vince Lombardi summed that up in a great one-liner:

“If you aren’t fired with enthusiasm, you’ll be fired with enthusiasm.”

We’ve all seen campaigns where “supporters” are bored, unmotivated and simply have no feeling one way or the other about the candidate they’re working for. These pathetic campaigns are constantly desperate for money and painful to work for. Their conclusions are predictable and inevitable.Notice how SarahPAC rarely asks us for money. You could count the number of fund-raiser requests this year on your hands and have fingers left over. Why? We just donate. We organize our own money-bombs. We donate to celebrate public and private “Palin-versaries,” - like this one - and to celebrate key milestones and accomplishments. We even donate for no particular reason at all! This support does not exist in a vacuum. SarahPAC's donors are fired with enthusiasm.

Head + Heart = Victory

Another of Vince Lombardi’s many heart quotes:“If you're lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he's never going to come off the field second.”Last year, I got to see this principle first hand with Palin-endorsed NY-13 Congressman Michael Grimm’s campaign. Some 100 volunteers, myself among them, with their hearts in the game easily defeated a primary opponent’s paid staff - 5:1 in some election districts. He then destroyed his Democrat opponent who was well-financed, had a paid staff, the backing of multiple unions and the Obama administration. I campaigned for Rep. Grimm just on Gov. Palin’s endorsement. I live in his district. I treated that as a direct order from her. I had to help him win and make her proud. Of course, Rep. Grimm inspired his volunteers on his own merits. Working for his campaign was joyful and uplifting. It was a win for residents of NY-13, Rep. Grimm, his staff and volunteers, and Gov. Palin.

Policy Alone is Insufficient

It is not just about policy and issues as some want to focus exclusively on. You can program a robot and have it spew out policy. You can program a robot's speeches. Goodbye teleprompters. You can interface an autopen to said robot, have it sign bills into law and do away with the entire political process. A robot can even be made ploppable and plopped into a chair at the Oval Office. Why not? Well...you need a person to program the robot and who would decide how the machine is going to be programmed? We’re back to the agony of Square One. The biggest load of baloney in politics is the notion that “it’s only the message, not the person that matters.”

Leadership that Inspires Confidence, Commands Respect

In the hands of the wrong person, even the right message can be disastrously implemented. In these times, mediocrity does not cut it. We need a strong leader. We need a standard bearer. The person does matter.Judgment and discernment by definition cannot be programmed. You see, some qualities are completely apolitical and cannot be mechanized. Few people possess even one of them, much less all of them. These qualities are: integrity; leadership by example; keeping promises; executive experience; command experience; life experience; judgment; the right combination of toughness and sweetness; accomplishments; fortitude; the ability to keep confidences; a proven and vetted track record of success; a proven ability to withstand media scrutiny; people person; and impeccable character that inspires confidence and commands respect. Add to that list: proving to the world that a woman can do anything a man can do – and in many cases, do it better.These qualities are about the person and Gov. Palin possesses every last one of them. That's what makes her the kind of leader you see only once in 75 - 150 years. Gov. Palin’s successes always were and always will be about winning hearts and getting those hearts to follow her anywhere.

Gov. Palin Launches Sudden, Relentless Reform in St. Louis

The only way to defeat the crony capitalism and corporate welfare infesting both parties is "sudden and relentless reform," former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said last night in Glenn Beck's Defending the Republic event in St. Louis, Missouri, Mark Schlinkmann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Gov. Palin received standing ovations from the crowd of over 5,000.

Her 50-minute speech focused on over-spending; government picking winners and losers; pay-to-play; using stimulus funds to benefit donors; and bailouts for big business and Wall Street with the middle class paying the bill for it all. Following her speech, Gov. Palin took questions from the listeners of KFTK-FM, which sponsored her appearance.

While some in the audience were disappointed in Gov. Palin's decision to not run for President in the 2012 election, they supported her decision. Some are not supporting another candidate unless she endorses one. Many held out hope that she would run in 2016 or 2020.

I would like to personally thank all of you who have worked so hard and really thrown your hearts into supporting Sarah. I, like many of you, was really disappointed in her decision but I completely understand it. I don’t think there are many people out there who could begin to understand the scrutiny her family has been under. As for you who think that Sarah strung you along; as late as last week, right after I interviewed with Steve Bannon, I talked with Sarah and she was still pushing hard and contemplating a run. After a lot of prayers, and finally, through respect for her own family’s wishes, she chose to wait this one out.
Be assured that Sarah’s not done. She will continue to be a force in the political world and I’m sure she’ll be holding whoever’s elected in any important upcoming elections accountable for their actions. In my opinion, I believe she’ll arise again even stronger than before.

Well, it's now official. Sarah Palin is not running for president.

“My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year,” she said. “I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office — from the nation’s governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency.”

So, as a Palin supporter, I have to say that she is doing what's best for her and her family, and we all should accept that fact. We may not like it, but now that she's made her decision, we should all begin the process of finding that one person that will be the best candidate for the GOP nominee, and hopefully president.

So far, Herman Cain is my choice, but there is still time to pick and choose who we think could fill the office and hopefully right the direction of this nation.

As sorry as I am that Sarah Palin will not be running, Maybe now we can focus on defeating the current Community Organizer in Chief with Sarah Palin backing that candidate all the way.

So, for all of us that have supported her, our disappointment should be short-lived. Maybe, like Chris Christie, now is not her time. But someday...

But one thing is for sure... We have not heard the last of Sarah Palin.

But that's just my opinion, I could be right!

Though GOP RINOs and the Left work together symbiotically against Governor Palin, the two sides have different reasons for hating her.

Leftwing Liberals hate Sarah Palin because they do not understand her “extraordinary ordinariness.” Lefty Libs are political idolaters, they believe in the mythos of “professionalism”. As Obama has lectured, “professional politicians” are just so much smarter than us ordinary citizens.

What the Left does not understand is it’s Palin’s spiritiual authority with its resultant popularity — not her professional political skills — that is the premium.

(Palin’s organizational networks and Tea Party are the antithesis of “professional” – it’s an organic reaction to the Governor as well as to a government out of control.)

The Left are completely flummoxed by Palin’s authority because they do not believe God or “the good” exists. They believe people like Sarah Palin went extinct by the early 1960’s (and even then, hardly believable or real). Hers is a spiritual syntax so plainly forthright she just freaks them out.

OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD

The Left cannot comprehend Palin because what the Left wants is dangerous glamour: they want a neo-Wizard of Oz, high and mighty and fearful and oh-so-mysterious. This idolatrous lust produced Barack Obama as well as a concurrent denial of him: they know darn well what a dull little man lurks behind the curtain.

But idolatry being idolatry, what they worship is Obama’s process, not Obama for himself. They genuflect to his transformational powers. They believe that — just as Obama went from student Marxist lounge lizard to gun-runner-in-chief – they, too, can transform themselves and ascend to the heights though they haven’t worked for it and don’t deserve it.

When you hear applause for Obama, remember this. It’s applause for the thief who tricked the system, applause for Obama’s caper crime, applause for their own selfish ambition.

THE EXISTENTIAL THREAT

So the Left worships the Obama trajectory while simultaneously wanting to deny Palin any power track of her own. This is because they unconsciously know Sarah Palin is no fraud; she already has the spiritual (and experiential) authority to occupy the Oval Office.

If the Left allows her ascendency, they run the terrible risk of being unmasked — because goodness always seeks to dethrone evil. Though they don’t believe in evil or the good, (thus “the existential” in why Palin is an “existential threat” to them) the Left is threatened because they know Palin has the strength of her convictions.

THE MORAL DOUBLE STANDARD

This lack of a moral code should win Liberals on the Left a pass in some sense. They claim no Judeo-Christian heritage of fairness, justice or morality in their allegiance to Marx/Mao/Che/Alinsky/Obama, so it’s sort of weirdly unfair to posit them in the normal moral universe that most people — and all children — understand.

On the other hand, RINOs DO understand the moral and spiritual component in politics — because they must. As Republicans, they campaign on a family values/morality-based platform. This is the source of the moral double standard the MSM doles out to the Right.

The Right claims to have some morality so they naturally get pilloried when they fail to live up to their own standards. The Lefty Libs do not claim any moral high ground from the get-go.

THE DOUBLE-STANDARD WHINE

The rightwing whine about “if a democrat did this, we’d never hear the end of it!” is an unfair double standard. But it’s a hollow argument that garners no ground for conservatives, because our opponents on the Left have no idea what you’re talking about when you discuss “morality”. You’ll just get a blank stare.

These are thugs and thieves who are motivated by graft and greed. Better to dissect liberal-speak regarding motive rather than try to hold (for example) Anthony Weiner to the same conservative moral code.

There never will be any fairness in this double standard as long as there are Judeo-Christian mores on the conservative side, so it’s best for us to quit bitching about it.

It’s actually a backhanded compliment when conservatives get criticized for breaking their own moral code.

THE STANDARD-BEARER FROM ALASKA

And RINOs — especially the RINOs — know Sarah Palin represents this moral code and family values more than any politician in recent memory, including Michele Bachmann (as I will explain).

In many important ways, and even more than the Left, RINOs can’t deal with Palin’s moral authority — because she’s a “Standard Bearer” of the spirit.

In an army, a Standard Bearer holds up the “standard” or banner or flag as he leads troops into battle. The Standard Bearer has no other arms but his flag. The banner signifies and identifies the army; his standard symbolizes what the army is fighting for.

Standard Bearers need to be on the front lines so soldiers can easily see their banner, to remind them who they are and where they are in battle position.

Because he must be so visible — so exposed — in the midst of the contest, Standard Bearers are always an easy target for the enemy.

But the real significance of the Standard Bearer is he upholds the morale of his men. Because the unarmed Bearer risks his life so bravely, just seeing his waving flag encourages his soldiers to press forward in the fight.

The Standard Bearer holds the spiritual well-being of his army with his raised standard. Everyone from Clausewitz to Sun Tzu will tell you wars are won or lost on morale alone… the Standard Bearer’s job is of utmost importance. His personal integrity — vital.

Here is the Oath of Allegiance for a Standard Bearer in the Danish military of the early 1600’s:

A STANDARD BEARER’S OATH

“I trust you this Banner; because I believe you are an honest and brave Man;

You must lead it, as it is proper for a loyal Warrior.

You must safeguard it, as a real Dane will safeguard his wedded wife.

You shall wave this Banner for honest people, but never wave it for traitors.

On the march and mounting guard, during storms and battles,

You must appear as an example to brave soldiers;

You should never retreat;

equally should you never cause the army to become discouraged and running away from the enemy.

If, in the battle, the enemy should cut off your right hand, grasp the Banner with your left hand.

If you lose both your hands, grasp the Banner by your teeth’s.

You must safeguard it, as long as you are alive and breathing.

Are you forced to give up fighting, may God forbid that;

You must wrap the Banner around your body and die”.

I believe this is Sarah Palin’s spiritual rank. She’s the designated Standard Bearer in the Battle of America — and she holds a banner with the sacred dates of 1773, 1776, 1787 and 1865.

PALIN’S SPIRITUAL RANK

Sarah Palin constantly describes what America’s “standard” or “banner” is: common sense Constitutionalism. She upholds these ideals for everyone to see, evidenced nearly every time she’s afforded a microphone. (Gauge her very impromptu Pella speech… she was telling us what she “stands” for… and it’s not about her… )

Standard Bearers “re-present” the rest of the army – it’s not about them personally. They uphold the ideals of the army. Because of the spiritual nature of representing others, we want her to look like our own “best selves.” (This explains in part why her external appearance, her presentation, gets so much attention. It’s because she is “representing” ppl.)

Being a Standard Bearer does not mean Sarah Palin is any less of a sinner or less flawed than you or me. It simply means she represents you and me as she carries our American ideals.

HOW VULNERABILITY = LEADERSHIP

Every Palinista instinctively senses how unarmed Palin the standard bearer is, how susceptible she is to attack. We’re sensitive because of what she’s already been through, but at the same time, we recognize her many morale-building kindnesses, even against political enemies.

Her very vulnerability draws people to her, to protect her (as we want to do) though Palin probably believes we’re overdoing it, she can take care of herself thank-you-very-much. And she wants to protect the Tea Partiers herself, in turn.

But vulnerability to attack is part of the leadership quality of Standard Bearers. Their courage – unarmed but for the flag – brings out the warrior soul in everyone on their fight battalion.

Palin’s true fight is to define the goal and lead people forward to it: she has no real defense but the truth. This is why it pains us to see Palin defending herself, in the random and few times she has done it. It’s not natural for her to do so, nor necessary, because every attack upon her, somehow, in God’s economy, boomerangs back on her accusers.

HOW LEADERSHIP LEADS

Governor Palin talked to Sean Hannity in early August about the importance of having a “steel spine” – something all standard bearers need in order to “stand tall”.

She said: “(Reagan) reminded us — as our steel spine is stiffened — look around, and you’re going to see that it strengthens others around you — and then they know that it’s okay, too, to stand on principle and do what’s right.”

As we see the Standard Bearer’s courage, we are encouraged in our own spiritual war footing. This is the secret of true leadership: to inspire others to do give their all for the cause.

Oh, and it’s no coincidence another word for “Standard Bearer” is… “President.”

This is my cat. He notices the snacks aren't coming as quickly as they used to. He sees a lot more people around the neighborhood ever since unemployment went up. He's too young to remember the shining city upon the bag of 9-Lives. He thinks Morris the cat is a crony capitalist, hawking a product that has been getting more expensive now that inflation is up.

Sam was never very politically active. He mainly hung out in the back yard with my neighbor's cat who is into handouts - eating out of the bowl of food I would put out when I was out during the day. Sam is beginning to feel the pinch, though. There's less food. There's not much partying going on (which results in less attention, snacks, etc). Sam's not going to take it anymore. He wants a new president.

Sam has been watching me blog. He sits on the dining room table meowing while I tell him to be quiet as I type. But, he's been trying to tell me something. He sees what I'm writing. He understands now why I don't pay attention to him when Sarah Palin is on Fox News. He understands now and he wants to get active.

My friend across the street and I came up with a great idea. We could paint "Palin 2012" on him and let him walk the neighborhood. It would kinda be like Organize4Palin while I was out trying to get my business going or looking for work. This way, I could still be active in the cause, yet not have it cut into my ability to survive financially.

So, Sam has joined the army. This has got to be better than just having a lawn sign. Maybe I could write "The media lies" on the other side of him.

This is just the beginning. Sam will be campaigning hard for our lady from the north when she announces. I kidded with Thomas S. Schmitz on my blog when I wrote "I bet they don't have cats like Sam in California!" Well, Tom had to set me straight with this picture of Shiva.

Besides, it's about time our cats start earning their keep.

Tammy Bruce predicted months and months ago the 2012 elections would be a fight between Tea Party conservatives and the Establishment, whether they’re Establishment Dems or RINOs. She’s also been dead right to describe RINOs as “liberals in GOP clothing”, especially George W. Bush, who hid his liberalism behind an apparent Christianity.

It’s easy to take ideological shots at Dem liberals, but much more difficult to see liberals within the GOP — because RINOs hide behind the traditional family/conservative values of the GOP platform.

BUSHIE DEMON SEEDS

For example, Bush-Rove-RINOism set us up for Obamanation, but there’s a conservative reluctance to condemn Bush because of the beating he took in the lib MSM for so many years… especially now since it seems Bin Laden’s death may have been fruit of Bush-era interrogation policies.

Plus, it’s nearly impossible to remember George Bush is no conservative after his speech at the Flight 93 memorial, a speech given by a President who actually loves America.

“W” was so affable and so “right” on many issues, but in the end, his liberal agendas (amnesty; bloating government healthcare costs; no endgame in the W.O.T.; kick-starting the anti-American bank and big business bailouts; attempting to blend democracy into Sharia; creating a whole new intelligence entity — Homeland Security — rather than solving the problems of our intel-gathering institutions) were demon seeds.

(Rick Perry set off a Texas pissing contest with Bushies/Rove in 2007 when he said “George W. Bush has never been a fiscal conservative”… and Perry was right.)

Bush has come out to say he regrets the bailouts… but he neglects to speak out against disastrous Obama policies based upon his disastrous last years in office?

In our current shipwreck of state, certainly good ol’ W could dispatch with the “former Prezzies don’t criticize” dictum and say or do something constructive? Considering the enormity of his part in our dying economy, Bush’s current behavior is strangely irresponsible, if not abhorrent.

(I still want to know why Geo. H.W. and Geo. W. Bush took a meeting with Obama in January 2010.)

GAMING JEB

Adding insult to injury, the Bush daughters came out in support of Obamacare (while their parents were mute?), Jeb Bush took a Florida “edu” photo-op with Obama cashing in on the Kennedy/Bush “No Child Left Behind” defilement of public schools, Laura Bush made furtive calls to Mitch Daniel’s wife before he dropped out of the 2012 presidential race; and the elder Bushes entertained RINO Jon Huntsman at Kennebunkport.

And will someone answer me why Barbara Bush is calling Chris Christie’s wife to encourage him to run? The Bushes only interest in the 2012 race has to be Jeb 2016, so are the Bushes expecting Christie to lose? What strange political striving or working of the last vestiges of their political power is going on?

Why did the Bushes let Laura Bush make a new tv spot about women in the middle east last week? Rove used to call Laura Bush “his secret weapon”… are they afraid, as they should be, that Sarah Palin now occupies the spot Laura Bush used to occupy in the heart of the GOP? (But better than Laura, Palin has the making of a better President than Laura’s husband at the same time!)

THE FOX BUSHIE MSM AXIS OF EVIL

And then, there’s Fox — vis-a-vis Hannity – who did a very long and overtly presidential infomercial on Jeb Bush. And with the McGinnis book published, we find out Joe McGinnnis is friends with Roger Ailes? Ailes who is BFF with George H. W. Bush?

On Labor Day (when Fox declined to cover either of Sarah Palin’s speeches in Indianola or N.H.) the Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin did an incredible puff piece on Jeb to position him as top dog in the current line up of GOP hopefuls.

(It must be a RINO thing. Ingraham also drops Jeb’s name as a potential ’12 candidate…)

A few weeks back, someone at the Frum Forum RINOfest wrote an article as if George W. Bush was the top pick of the GOP candidates in a fantasy debate.

The Bushes are still in the game and they’re gaming Jeb against Sarah Palin.

BAITING SARAH

I believe this is why Rove baited Palin on her declare date: none of the Rove-tinged candidates (even Bachmann was backed by Rove in her initial congressional run) can beat Obama and everyone, including the lib-media, knows this.

Another BushRoveRINO, an actual Rove protégé, Chris Christie, is too un-vetted to beat Obama but maybe RINOs think he can beat Palin to the nomination. Christie is CapNTrade, anti 2nd amendment, pro Obamacare and bad on creeping Sharia — there’s really no reason but lunacy that Nancy Reagan invited him to speak last night.

Any RINO currently in the lineup – Romney or Perry or Cain — even the tainted Bachmann – would lose to Obama. Which just could be the plan of the Permanent Political Class, RINO division.

The other evidence Jeb is running is the Rove flip-flop on his former protégée, Rick Perry. Right after Perry declared for President, he declared open war with Bush-Rove. Then Rove was lovey-dovey with Perry, but then flipped back: Rove saying Perry’s view that Social Security is a Ponzi scheme is “toxic”. Last we heard of this supposed feud, Perry pushed back on Rove at the Reagan library debate.

The truth will come out about Rove/Perry if Perry can stay in the race. If Rove pulls his punches — and Rove knows where ALL the Perry skeletons are buried – they we’ll know whether or not this is some Establishment-Bush-RINO ruse to keep Obama in office.

Either Rove has some other horse (Jeb) in the race, or he’s playing a shell game with Perry and the other Rove protégé, Christie.

Sure is interesting how Rovepal Christie reconsidered a Prezzie run moments after Perry unraveled in the last debate, though.

JEB ON DWTS

Jeb himself took a Palin-jab a few months ago none-too-subtly:

“I don’t anticipate [running for President in 2012], you never say never. This is a standard answer that I’ve kind of learned how to give which is — you never say never, but I’m never ruling out being on Dancing with the Stars…”

Jeb must run if Palin runs. This is what the waiting game is all about. She’d beat Obama and that messes up the Bush Dynasty plan for Jeb 2016.

Palin dashes ALL their plans. She knows it. And they know it.

This is why last winter Barbara Bush warned Palin to just keep her pretty little self up there in Alaska (and stay “dead”).

BUSH-ROVE ENEMIES OF TEA

As Karl Rove proved during the mid-terms with his attacks on (the Palin-backed) Tea Candidates — most notably Christine O’Donnell in the most spiteful Fox-RINO rant imaginable — the Bushes are RINO, Cap’N’Trade enemies of Tea Party and Sarah Palin.

The Bushes are pro North American Union, open borders RINOs. Notice not one of the Bush boys has said a word about Obamacare, the litmus test today for normal conservatives and, of course, Tea Party.

Normal conservatives have been disgusted at Rove’s chicanery since at least 2006, but hand it to Donald Trump to summarize the Rove problem best:

“Bush-Rove gave us Obama.”

TEA VS. CAPNTRADE TOTALITARIANS

Tea Party can also never forget RINO George H. W. Bush is an accursed New World Order dullard who hated Ronald Reagan and morphed the Cold War into the era of Islamic terror because of his UN-centric beliefs.

Who knows if the denuding of our intelligence services and selling of our nuclear secrets to the Chinese in the Clinton years was not an impotency set in motion by George H. W. Bush – and his desire for a day without national sovereignty?

January 20, 1993 was just as much of an apocalypse as January 20, 2009 — and both disasters were born of Bush failures.

The passive aggressive N.W.O. RINOism of the Bushes is as dangerous as blatant Dem liberalism.

No, I take that back.

Their RINOism is more dangerous.

Whether it’s Bushie, Frum, Rove, Mitt, Boehner, Christie, McCain, Romney or Graham (or newly minted RINOs Ingraham/Coulter) — RINOism needs to be dissected for its danger to be understood. There’s a behavioral RINO constant to behold — a strategy lesson to be learned.

REAGAN DNA – THE TUCSON TELL

The Tucson slander of Sarah Palin was the most egregious outpouring of political hate since George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan; a spiritual crucifixion, if you will.

But Bush was attacked by the Left because he purposely co-opted Reagan’s western cowboy/conservative image, attacks which fizzled after he left office exposed as a compromised liberal.

Bush was a counterfeit Reagan, an anti-Reagan.

While in contrast, Palin’s Reagan DNA was evident in 2008.

The virulent attacks against her during Tucson were because the Left and colluding RINOs recognized her as the inheritor of the Tea Party mantle, the true “winner” of the November 2010 election sweep: private citizen Sarah Palin wielded the political punch to take the House.

The Tucson hate was a “tell” for the Left and RINOs: they realized Sarah Palin plus Tea Party equals Reagan 2.0.

THE SILENCE OF THE RINOS

And, as the truth about the Tucson lies against Governor Palin proved crackhellcrazy, both GOP RINOs and the Liberal Media Complex went into a shared, delusory denial regarding her comings and goings. It started when Dana Milbank failed to take a month off from Sarah Palin. They needed the Governor to be a ghost to them, functionally invisible but haunting the shreds of their seared consciences.

So their “Palin’s over”, “Palin’s in hiding” “Palin’s not running”, “Palin’s content not being in office and only out for the money” mini-memes churned out during her (actually) very busy first quarter schedule: headlining Reagan’s 100th, speaking at the Long Island Association, cheering Todd at Iron dog, dazzling them in India, dining with the Netanyahus; all the while tweeting, Facebooking and media-squirmishing.

The disconnect was churlish wish-fulfillment for the RINOs — who wanted Palin to slink away somewhere and become RNC Chairman, “GOP Kingmaker” or “GOP Gal Friday”.

All this Palin denial was reflexive of the grotesque extremes they’d worked for her political death during Tucson — the Left hammering down false accusations of murder and other damnable lies, while the GOP RINOs – through a silence of shared bloodlust – held the nails.

And the Left and GOP RINOs inhabited an alternate Palin reality until…

A PALIN PALM SUNDAY

Yeah. And every Palinista who heard Sarah Palin’s “Fight Like A Girl – Game On!” Madison speech on Tax Day Saturday felt like waving palm branches for “President Palin” Palm Sunday.

The Palin game shifted that day she stared down the beast in Madison (check out the hordes of union thugs shouting during her speech on YouTube sometime). There, she told the establishment RINOs in Madison: I’d like to try to work with you, but I’ll take you on if I must!

In order to outgame GOP RINOs, it’s a Palinista point of reference to remember they share the same basic motive with King Saul:

RINOs are murderously, insanely — jealous.

CRUCIFIED OUT OF ENVY

Jealousy, or envy, stems from the sweaty fear of being replaced or eclipsed. It’s a terror of losing your position or your identity to someone or something you fear is bigger, better, smarter, stronger or more favored than you.

Envy pushed King Saul to try to murder his loyal commander in the field, David. Good Friday happened because of envy of Jesus. Tea Party and Sarah Palin were “handed over” by the silence of party RINOs to be scourged by the Left during Tucson, during the Hobbiting of McCain, etc., because RINOs envy their organic power in the voting booth.

Again, silence when someone is being attacked is their agreement with the aggressor.

It is RINO passive aggression.

Cowardly RINOs such as this are as much of a political enemy as the Far Left Union/Marxist/CapNTrade thugs.

SMELLS LIKE TEA SPIRIT

Today, the RINOs in Congress are so jealous of Tea Party’s November 2010 landslide WHICH BROUGHT THEM INTO HAVING POWER IN CONGRESS, they try kill this Tea spirit by capitulating to Obama on the debt ceiling and stalling on healthcare?

They are so insane with Tea jealousy they squander and give away their power in Congress to the Democrats?

“THINKING CRAZY”

RINOs see only one thing. Their jobs – their very identities — are threatened.

The RINOs who want to be President and the Beltway RINOs are jealous of the spirit of Tea, jealous of the joyous fight that invigorates Sarah Palin because it represents their own hypocrisy and culpability for the problem that is Obama — and they don’t know what to do with themselves.

GOP RINOs remember very clearly how the stock market spiked in a happy response to the Tea Party victories on November 2nd 2010.

They know the market response to Tea Party is enthusiastic, because the market understands Tea Party principles are soundly conservative and pro business. Yet the Congressional RINOs worked a terrible victory for Obama on the debt ceiling deal, in an open fear of the power of Tea? Jealousy makes them “think crazy”.

The GOP RINO mindset does not register political genuineness. They cannot understand Tea, they do not believe it to be real, they believe it to be some huge trickery or slight of hand.

This is why it’s vital Tea Party and Palinistas stick to their ideals. Appeasing, befriending or coddling RINOs doesn’t work. Compromise and appeasement with RINOs will get Tea Party… nowhere.

"I hold my political cards close to my chest. Don't look for a decision in 24 hours. I am still in deliberations," former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said in her interview tonight with Judge Napolitano on Freedom Watch from her Wasilla, Alaska studio. Fox Business had promoted the segment as being a possible venue where Gov. Palin could announce her intentions. In Titles, Shackles, Decisions, and Respect, I discussed Fox trying to get Gov. Palin to tip her hand for the past nine months.

Gov. Palin had heard the prior segment in which colleague Juan Williams said that he thought "it was nasty of Gov. Palin to refer to Herman Cain as 'flavor of the month.'" Judge Napolitano informed Williams that she never referred to Cain in that fashion and he accepted the correction. But, Gov. Palin fired back during her segment, "I think it's nasty when a colleague says something without knowing what he's talking about! I never said 'Herman Cain is flavor of the week.'" Gov. Palin said the media was ginning up the "flavor of the week" cycle that has afflicted the 2012 GOP field of declared candidates and hopefuls.

When asked about the value of debates, Gov. Palin said that they "do offer a window into what a candidate stands for" and a means by which to vet candidates, but emphasized it is the voters' responsibility to do their homework and study the candidates. A 10-second soundbite, or even interviews such as she does with Fox do not provide sufficient information on candidates, she said.

Judge Napolitano asked Gov. Palin which candidates she preferred: "the big government compassionate conservatives or the small government types." "I'm with whomever understands that smaller, smarter government is best and that the government which governs least governs best," Gov. Palin said. She recounted how in her experience local government tends to be more responsive and more efficient. As the government gets more remote and larger, it becomes more dismissive of people's needs, she said.

Gov. Palin said the permanent political class in both parties needs to be retired. She said crony capitalism and corporate welfare are bi-partisan problems, as both parties have embraced them. Solyndra is a the poster-child of Crony Capitalism on Steroids.

In the first segment, NY-13 Rep. Michael Grimm - one of Gov. Palin's endorsed candidates in 2010 - spoke about the FBI investigation of Solyndra's activities. Congressman Grimm also advocated for a smaller government that provides an opportunity for everyone to thrive, thus he shares in Gov. Palin's Reagan Conservatism.

Okay, normally I would be talking about Sarah Palin, or the upcoming presidential elections here, but this scares the hell out of me. First of all, let me preface this by saying that when I first saw this report, I was appalled. But then fear crept in, as this could very well be what happens before next November, if the left has their way.

Speaking to a Cary Rotary Club in North Carolina, Gov. Bev Perdue suggested that the next round Congressional elections should be postponed for two years, so that Congress can focus on the economic recovery and not the next election.

These are her own words:

"You have to have more ability from Congress, I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things. I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that. The one good thing about Raleigh is that for so many years we worked across party lines. It's a little bit more contentious now but it's not impossible to try to do what's right in this state. You want people who don't worry about the next election."

Those, ladies and gentlemen, are the words of a liberal progressive; someone who would usurp the power from the people in order to save their own jobs and garner more power for themselves… To take away the rights of the people to vote in order to secure their positions of power over the people.

Does this scare you? It should, because I have said a time or two in the past to a few friends that our president could do this very thing to secure his own position as he slips further down in the polls. What better way is there to keep your job than by making sure that elections are suspended because of a national crisis? The thing is, I can't seem to recall a time that our voting rights were suspended because of anything... Be they World Wars, Great Depressions or any other crisis that stopped the people from voting.

Is it just me, or is this the plan being cast into motion by the left because they know that they are about to be swept out of office all over the country?

Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but this sounds like someone who would call for the congressional elections, or, perhaps, even the presidential elections to be postponed indefinitely to make sure that the economy gets better. The only way the economy is going to get better is to oust the people that put us in this position in the first place; the elites in Congress... On both sides of the aisle! They are the very people who placed this nation in financial jeopardy, and they should be voted out of office; hopefully to be replaced with people with integrity, common sense, and some ability in mathematics!

It's the Spending, Stupid! This is not about taxing the rich, it's all about eradicating the Middle Class to make America into a Feudal Caste of the Elites and the Surfs! And they are doing it right before our eyes, and the useful idiots on the left seem to be okay with it so long as they get what's coming to them. Screw freedom, they say, we want what the rich guys have! They would give their freedom away for a few pieces of silver. Judas Priest, how stupid are they?

Okay, let's put this in a way that most everybody can understand: Anyone who has ever watched the Star Wars Saga knows that Senator Palpatine plotted a war, and then using it as a basis to get himself elected to the chancellor's office. Then, he kept himself in power far longer than he should have by using the lawmakers; playing them for fools--- preying on their fears. He used the corruption that many of them were involved in to keep his base unified. He went from Chancellor to Emperor Palpatine when he decided to eradicate the Jedi. And as silly as it sounds, a similar scenario is being played out in this country today.

You have union bosses telling their union members to protest state houses to disrupt laws being changed or passed. You have college professors telling their students to protest and get arrested, all in the hope of overthrowing the country (Does Socialist Professor Cornel West from Princeton ring any bells for you?). You also have a bunch of government-dependant people, who refuse to work to better themselves, who will vote for the democrats to keep getting their government checks and food stamps coming in.

They are called Useful Idiots by the Socialist. You can't have a revolution without them. But once the revolution has been won, the useful idiots are the first to die, thus striking fear into the hearts of everyone else. That is how Socialism leads to Communism, and China is drooling right now because we are but a few short steps away from being just like them! For anyone doubting this, take a look at how Cuba fell to Castro. It happened in our own back yard, so to speak. The youth, and the poor were used to overthrow the legitimate government and Castro took over. And what happened then is happening here... NOW! It's called Class Envy, or Class Warfare, but the results are the same --- The government takes the money from the people, who then will dribble it out to the masses. But, in return, you must earn it. There will be no lazy or sick people then, because those who refuse to work, and those that are too sick to work, are deemed inferior and disposed of. That will be the fruition of the revolution. That is what the useful idiots aren't told. If they were told the truth, no one would follow them!

Someone once called this the Perfect Storm, and I'm afraid that the storm clouds are now gathering, and soon, the storm will sweep across America... And take our precious liberties away.

Again, maybe it's just me being paranoid, but somehow I sense the dark side is clouding everything, and soon, the Sith will rule the country. They damn near do now. All it will take is one crisis to make it so.

May God help us!

Pray that America comes to her senses and votes out the progressives. Pray that America can ride this storm out and comes out of it a better place. Pray that we can elect leaders that will turn back the tide of leftist darkness that is overshadowing this nation. Pray that when it's all said and done, America will once again be that shining city on the hill, and not a smoldering pile of rubble at the hands the left, the anarchists, and the useful idiots they seem to attract.

But that's just my opinion, I could be right!

Titles, Shackles, Decisions, and Respect

Many so-called supporters of Gov. Palin are aghast that she suggested a title could shackle and take away her freedom. There's quite a bit of "she owes us," "she's not running," and "she better run" being thrown around the comment boards on all the Palin sites.

Our Support is of Our Own Free Will

Nothing in her statements with Greta Van Susteren Tuesday night indicated a GO/NO GO on a POTUS run - nothing that is, except words that supporters who should know better put in her mouth. We want Gov. Palin to run for President and have been egging her on for three years now. Many of us wanted her to run when wanting her to run was "not cool." We supported her knowing that she might not run. Second, no one forced anyone to support Gov. Palin. She did not extort, bribe, con, or cajole our support. We gave it willingly of our own volition. She does not owe us anything and people who think they're owed need to get over it and get over themselves - especially those who think they did so much that she owes them a paid position. For those "supporters" who didn't get the memo, Gov. Palin is not for sale, does not run a pay-to-play operation and is not a crony capitalist.

Respecting Gov. Palin's Decision-Making Process

Third, Gov. Palin will make her decision on her terms after carefully considering all the factors, including - and especially - whether she can be more effective doing what she does now, or more effective campaigning for - and hopefully - winning the Presidency. Support means respecting her decision whatever it may be. It's mind-boggling that some of the same supporters who want her to run for President and announce right now are ready to jump ship if she doesn't do things their way and on their schedule. We're back to some people needing to get over themselves.

Gov. Palin Will Not Tip Her Hand

Fourth, Gov. Palin made a promise on at least four different occasions to a local Alaskan radio show that they would be the first to know of her decision to run or not. Every interviewer on Fox News has tried to get Gov. Palin to tip her hand or announce on their shows in practically every airing over the past nine months. They have asked just about every permutation and combination of the same question. I learned to expect it long ago when watching these shows to write my synopses. This was discussed at length in Gov. Palin's September 12 interview with Greta Van Susteren where she said she was tired of "giving the same dopey answers" to the 2012 question. Gov. Palin does not break promises and she is not going to betray her own confidence. Newbies are not expected to know this, but veteran supporters should know better. This should be old news to any long-time supporter of Gov. Palin's. Fox News is simply not going to be the first place of her announcement. Bob and Mark is.

Gov. Palin's Actions Suggest a POTUS Run

Fifth, Gov. Palin's actions over the past year point squarely to a POTUS run. The epic Facebook Note to the 2010 Congress was a 16-paragraph Presidential position paper. She traveled to India and Israel and is set to travel to South Korea. In her travels, she met with heads of state. She hired a chief of staff, replaced her prior neo-con foreign policy advisers with a Reagan Conservative, developed five-point military and economic policies, and conducted bus tours in the Northeast and Midwest. She has developed substantive and sophisticated policies on health care, national security, quantitative easing, and entitlement reform. She has thrice been to Iowa in as many months. She has withstood the harshest media scrutiny of any candidate in well over 100 years. These are not the actions of a high-profile activist who just wants to make noise and money. The people who are latching on to the "title/shackle" line and getting ready to jump out of windows missed the other line which clearly indicates a possible intent to run:

“I would not have gone this far if I didn’t think I could beat [Obama].”

I don't think she has beer summits in mind and Gov. Palin does not play golf.

About Those Titles and Shackles

Gov. Palin knows full well what she can do without a title versus what she can do with one. She only has a couple of decades experience. She also knows very well what could happen to her influence if she chooses not to run. But, Gov. Palin understands that yes, a title can shackle. She's been there and done that.The matter of handlers trying to mold and shape Gov. Palin would probably not be much of an issue during the primary campaign. After all, she would be the boss. If handlers try to insult her intelligence, Gov. Palin could simply show them the door and tell the handlers in question to go handle themselves. The general election is where she could lose that autonomy. The GOP establishment would be an integral part of a Palin campaign (or anyone else's for that matter) and could make demands that she would have to comply with as a condition of their support. Remember that George H.W. Bush was not President Reagan's choice for Vice President. The party forced his hand. Gov. Palin has intimate and extensive knowledge of this having been McCain's running mate. She knows what goes on in national campaigns, because she was in one. Her heart-felt concern is legitimate. Gov. Palin is a stateswoman and a citizen public servant. She is not a machine politician. Absent a title, Gov. Palin enjoys unbridled freedom to shape the political debate on her terms, but quite possibly with much less influence. The next title gives her the ability to sign or veto legislation and treaties, and make decisions about war and peace - that is lead this nation.

The Summons and Finishing Some Unfinished Business

Gov. Palin is carefully considering this for all the right reasons. She's not pursuing a title or power. She knows the Presidency is a calling. She knows she's been summoned. It's public service and sacrifice. She wants to do what's right for this country and discharge the duties of that office unbeholden to anyone.Yes, we want her to run. None of the other candidates possess a single one of her leadership traits. The others simply fail to inspire. But, we cannot let our zeal for her running turn into petulant demands, whining that "she owes us," and putting words in her mouth she never said. It was NJ Gov. Chris Christie who said he was not running on Tuesday night, not Gov. Palin.Gov. Palin knows that if she runs, failure is not an option. There's also an historic element should she run that amplifies failure not being an option. You see, Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton left some unfinished business. Somehow, I think Gov. Palin is going to show little girls of this country exactly what they can do...

The day after Sarah Palin’s Madison speech, a fellow Palinista, TAM (Tammy Bruce Army Member) and orthodox Jew tweeted me a happy Palm Sunday — as I tweeted back Passover high-fives. Though we both attended Chicago C4P, we only bonded as TAMs later – and our Palin-Tea camaraderie is like Amos: “Unless two are agreed, they cannot walk together.”

Indeed, Tea Party is an agreement on the very definition of America, a covenant of Patriots.

THE KING SAUL-DAVID JEALOUSY PARADIGM

I was in deep BibleThink that day, there’d been discussion of how Good Friday happened because of jealousy of Christ — and it reminded me of some Palin-notes I’d made on the King Saul/King David “jealousy paradigm” Sarah Palin had been in with John McCain:

1. King Saul elevated young David to a public position of power in the Goliath episode – though David had previously been anointed king by the prophet Samuel …

… just as John McCain elevated Sarah Palin to a public position of power in the ’08 race, though her true authority was the depth of her governing experience (successful Mayor, Big Oil lion tamer, Governor who bested the Alaskan crony class).

2. In a jealous rage, King Saul tried to murder heir-apparent to the throne David in his own house…

… just as McCain’s own aides attacked GOP heir-apparent Sarah Palin minutes after the ‘08 election (attacks that were veritably McCain’s because he could’ve called off his goons at any time).

3. David refused to “touch mine anointed” and harm King Saul…

… just as Governor Palin has refused to say or do anything against John McCain; in fact, she campaigned for his Senate re-election.

MCCAIN & MCGINNISS

Even these past few weeks of the Joe McGinniss slander/libels against Sarah Palin, I was thinking about McCain. McCain would have known immediately how McGinniss’s book — and every smear-job against Sarah Palin since ‘08 — are outright lies. There’s no way McCain would have chosen Palin as his running mate if any of the sickening accusations against her over the past three years carried any weight.

It’s despicable how, every time the MSM ramps up against her, McCain has never come to Sarah Palin’s defense.

And, worse, it was McCain’s silence during the now infamous “day after” drubbing of Sarah Palin by his campaign aides on November 5th, 2008 that have set the tone for every RINO betrayal of Palin since.

SETTING THE RINO TONE

McCain’s silence signaled his tacit approval of the attacks upon Sarah Palin. He set the tone ESPECIALLY for the RINO silence during the false accusations thrown at Palin during the Tucson shootings.

Just imagine if McCain had done the gentlemanly, honorable thing in ’08 and defended his choice for Vice President. What a different GOP world it would be, because RINOs would realize they’d have to take on McCain to attack Palin.

USING THE HOBBITS TO GET ELECTED

And John McCain’s hobbiting of Tea Party is despicable, too; considering he used various Arizona Tea Parties (Tucson!) to keep his Senate seat lukewarm.

As the chief RINO of our lifetime (outside the Bushies) McCain is the godfather of the RINO rift in the GOP against Sarah Palin (and Tea Party).

Every time some heinous attack hits Sarah Palin or her family, all I can think of is how John McCain could have — and should have — set a gentlemanly standard by sticking up for his running mate.

Harrumph.

I’ll get back to McCain later.

But let me repeat it just one more time: John McCain set the standard for disgusting behavior towards Palin and Tea Party by fellow RINOs; be they FoxRINOs like Roger Ailes, BushRove RINOs, Congressional RINOs, Daily Caller RINOs, Frum RINOs, Presidential wannabe RINOs, Liberal Media Complex RINOs, former President RINOs, etc., etc.

McCain’s silence during the persecution of Sarah Palin was his tacit approval of the attacks. It cannot be viewed any other way.

Somewhere inside the compromised soul of John McCain is a jealousy towards Sarah Palin like that of the doomed King Saul towards the young David.

And it’s a deadly jealousy that’s spread through the RINO ranks.

RUNNING AGAINST THE RINOS

While I believe Governor Palin to be a strong Christian, this is in nowise hagiography or religious historicity — but rather an attempt to dissect establishment power under threat.

The Governor’s fight for 2012 will be like her battles against good-old-boy Alaskan networks in 2006. And Palin knows it: she forewarned GOP RINOs in her Madison speech — and recently expanded on the problem of Establishment Left and Right as the Permanent Political Class in one of the best political speeches of recent conservatism.

My Palinista point is to isolate the psychology of ruling elites when flanked by a traditional foe and oppositional upstarts — as a way to arm for the 2012 fight ahead.

INGRAHAM-COULTER DÉCLASSÉ

RINOism is an infectious disease and Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham seem to have caught it – re: their recent meow-fest over Sarah Palin.

Because Palin is Tea incarnate, and because Tea Party is Constitutional conservatism unfettered, Coulter and Ingraham’s reactions to Palin reveal more about them than anything about the Governor.

Suddenly, their RINOism, misogyny and East Coast Establishmentarianism showed (giggling together over how Palin is “a long tease”? Sick.)

GET CHRISTIE LOVE!

Suddenly, there’s total recall as to what big Mitt fans they’ve both been – and how Coulter is nearly unbalanced in her need to “Get Christie Love!” when the NJ Governor is just another handpicked BushRoveRINO.

(Plus Christie’s speech at the Reagan Library was a mishmoshed jumble of conservative cliches; and the man doesn’t know the difference between the words “passé” and “blasé”? Huh?)

RINOIZED

Coulter and Ingraham have been RINOized, even though Ingraham knows better; I recall Ingraham’s bright exchange with the Governor regarding the Barbara Bush/Establishment views of Palin about a year ago. What happened there?

Their catty arguments about Palin’s lack of substance boil down to a dated, Caribou Barbie meme (sniping about the pitch of her voice? Really?)

Sarah Palin is an experienced executive who knows the value of well-thought out policy because she knows only well-thought out policy — works.

Just ask Big Oil Alaska.

Using “she’s dumb” out of the “stupid/whore/bitch” triumvirate of classical female backstabs is a step down from Coulter’s previous Palin diatribe: “Palin should keep on getting rich and enjoy her political influence”.

Coulter and Ingraham hover in a cloistered, pre-Tea Party time-warp of their own choosing. (And let’s not forget Coulter and Ingraham dissed Palin on the RINO BOR show, on the FoxRINO network…)

THE OPINIONATORS VS. THE CHANGE AGENT

In DEMONIC, Coulter stressed the nonviolence of Tea Party within the context of the Revolutionary War and her demonic mob meme, but basically she sees Tea Party the same way she sees Palinistas – as fans, readers or audience members.

For Coulter to patronize/criticize Palin’s supporters perhaps reflects the loss of her Freeper fan base to Palin? (Let’s do the pre-Tea time-warp again!)

As “conservative” pundits, Coulter/Ingraham don’t get the organic populism of the Tea Party — because Tea is a change-agent in a moment when strategic conservative action is required…

… not more punditry.

Both Coulter and Ingraham still bank on the relative “shock-value” of the notion that conservatives can actually hold forth in a P.C. world — while missing entirely how Tea Party may be the answer to the problem of a P.C. world.

Keyword: “bank”.

Tea presents an awkward competition for Ann and Laura, who do not (and perhaps cannot) understand Tea Party as the solution we’ve been waiting for.

Of course, neither gal (if they can criticize her voice, I can call them “gals”) fathom Sarah Palin, who is the Tea Party Change Agent personified.

Palin knows what political time it is; she knows it’s time for faith and prayer to be matched with works; it’s time for political deeds — not words.

TEA PARTY GENEALOGY

But it’s still weird how the intellectual history-buff Coulter doesn’t get the political genealogy of Palin and Tea. The roots go back to Whittaker Chambers (and therefore not-so-much Ayn Rand) — the founder of modern conservatism and Ronald Reagan’s spiritual mentor.

GRANDFATHER OF TEA: WHITTAKER CHAMBERS

Anyone who knows about the former Soviet spy, born-again Quaker Chambers, knows the Chambers/Hiss conflagration birthed the modern Left/Right divide in this country.

In his day, Reagan represented this Left/Right divide, just as Palin – more than any other political leader of the last two decades – represents the depth of our Left/Right divide, albeit with the means to heal it through her anti-Establishment, common-sense Constitutionalism.

Chambers led conservatism out of the Marxist infiltration of the US government during the Red Scare; Reagan led us out of the Marxist perestroika-feint during the Cold War; and a Tea Party Change Agent has been born to lead us out of a Marxist, CapNTrade putsch during an ongoing War on Terror.

It’s almost ridiculous how neither Coulter nor Ingraham can see Tea or Palin for who they are or for what they represent. A recent, nearly glowing New York Times piece on Palin aces anything the TREASON author has had to say about the Governor — beyond irony for Ms. Coulter.

As someone who’s been secretly married to LexisNexis since the 90’s, Ann Coulter gets a fail on her Palin research. Ingraham is just as out of it.

How déclassé of both of these women in this mean little episode.

But it’s better to know — now — who’s Tea and who’s RINO.

Now He’s Blaming Europe

On Monday, during a fundraiser in California, President Obama declare that Europe’s debt problems and their inability to solve them was “scaring the world.” He went on to explain that Europeans “have not fully healed from the crisis back in 2007 and never fully dealt with the challenges that their banking system faced” and that “they’re trying to take responsible actions, but those actions haven’t been quite as quick as they need to be.”This of course is coming from a President who has done nothing to deal with our own country’s enormous debt crisis and who is in fact eager to incur even more debt with another useless stimulus bill (now called a “jobs bill” though the last stimulus failed to produce the jobs it promised, which is perhaps why Harry Reid doesn’t seem too eager to bring this new bill to a vote despite the President’s demands to “pass this bill”). Yes, Europe has serious debt problems, but for President Obama to be lecturing our allies about not being “quite as quick” in dealing with a debt crisis is downright hypocritical.When his all-too-common finger-pointing is directed at Republicans, President Obama’s search for a scapegoat is swallowed as merely the typical Beltway politics of our permanent political class. But pointing fingers at our allies when they are working to get their own financial house in order is counterproductive and can have a serious negative affect on our ability to lead the free world.One German newspaper denounced the President’s comments as “overbearing, arrogant, and absurd.” Another wrote: “The gloomy state of the economy is putting a damper on Obama’s future prospects. The optimism of the past is gone, replaced by a cheap search for a scapegoat.” And still another wrote: “That’s not how friends talk to each other. That applies particularly to friends who have themselves failed to get a handle on their own, self-made crisis.”Can we blame them for feeling this way? Keep in mind this was a President who was supposed to make the rest of the world “like” us again.It’s about time the President showed some leadership and took responsibility rather than campaigning on blaming everyone else for the financial mess his policies have exacerbated.Between President Obama’s hypocritical lecture poking our allies in the eye again and one Democrat governor’s call to postpone lawfully mandated elections for two years, I suppose nothing should surprise concerned Americans anymore. Gov. Palin on Greta: Obama "Not The One" No Matter What

No matter what happens with the economy, Obama is not "The One" and "I would never support him," former Alaska Governor said tonight in her closing remarks to Greta Van Susteren from her home studio in Wasilla, Alaska. "Obama has a track record of failure," and his European Socialism policies will bankrupt the nation, she said.

Gov. Palin tonight told us clearly what she is contemplating as she finalizes her decision to run for President or not in 2012. "Does a title take away from my freedom? Does it shackle?" Gov. Palin expressed concern that in a campaign she would be molded by handlers, a situation that's seared in her memory from the 2008 Vice Presidential campaign. But, Van Susteren countered that while Gov. Palin wields considerable power now, the Presidency would give her a much bigger platform. A private citizen cannot sign treaties, legislation, or make decisions about war and peace. Van Susteren quipped that Gov. Palin could only go so far on Facebook when it comes to international matters, such as our relationship with Israel. But, Gov. Palin countered that she had gone to Israel and dined with Prime Minister Netanyahu. Van Susteren acknowledged that, but countered back that as President, she could meet with multiple heads of state to resolve issues - something that the former Alaska Governor cannot do as a private citizen.

Gov. Palin said that for logistical reasons and getting names on ballots, a decision will have to be made soon.

Gov. Palin believes she can defeat Obama. "I would not have gone this far if I didn't think I could beat him," she said. Gov. Palin said the best way to reach Independents - the ones who will decide the outcome of the next election - is to stick to a message of common-sense Constitutional conservatism.

Weighing in on other candidates, Gov. Palin said "I think we can take Gov. Christie at his word that he is not interested in the Presidency." Her remarks came minutes after Christie re-affirmed that he is not running. She said Herman Cain is doing well in the polls because "people want politicians to have a foundation of coming from the real people of the United States of America - the working class....What Cain proposes is based on common sense."

Further, Gov. Palin said she is not surprised that the elites are shocked. She noted how she is within 5% of Obama in a poll on another network, but is doing poorly in poll on another. Many in the media "either don't do their homework, or interject an agenda," she said. The media should vet the field of candidates, but their flavor-of-the-week focus and their tendency to prop candidates up then crush them create a "reality TV" type atmosphere, Gov. Palin said.

Just To Clear Things Up

As a lot of you know, I had an encounter in West Hollywood the other day with an unhinged guy who was yelling hateful things at me about my Mom. The press has only shown a part of the encounter, so many reporters have totally missed the point of my comments. Most people may have walked away rather than go up to some guy raging like that and try to find out what his problem is. But that’s not how I’m wired. I usually do walk away, but I'm very tired of hateful people lying about my Mom, my family, and myself. So, this time I tried to get to the bottom of it.

I asked the guy if the reason he was so angry at my Mom was because he was gay. I was NOT baiting him or mocking him or in any way being derogatory of gays. It was just the opposite! I know that some members of the gay community have completely false notions about my Mom. I wanted to clear this up with this guy, but he was so far gone in his crazy hatred that rational conversation was impossible.

I think so much of the hatred directed at my Mom is based on lies and misconceptions about her and our family. It’s gotten so out of control that a 40-something guy in West Hollywood started shrieking obscenities at the top of his lungs and wishing death on my Mom, just at the thought of her. She hasn't done anything to warrant his hatred, and I wanted to address that.

As I said to that hate-filled guy in West Hollywood: Show me one thing my Mom has done that is so “evil” as to warrant the hatred and death wishes people heap on her and her kids.

The crazy guy had no answer because there is no answer. You can disagree with her politics without vilifying her or lying about us.

Isn’t it time for this crazy hatred to stop? That’s what I was trying to say to that guy.

Gov. Palin to Discuss Leading World out of Crisis in South Korea

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's speech before the World Knowledge Forum in Seoul, South Korea this October 11 is to provide a "US leadership perspective on how to lead the world out of the latest [economic] crisis, Hyun-kyu Shin - Samji Chung writer and Soyoung Chung, editor, Maeil Business Newspaper reported September 1 in Korean and English. Perhaps Providentially, a Google machine translation lists Gov. Palin as a "Presidential Candidate." Though far from perfect, the machine translation delves into a synopsis of Gov. Palin's policy positions on the deficit, debt, and quantitative easing. It compares and contrasts today's economic climate with the Great Depression and Obama's handling of the economy with President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's. The machine translation lists Gov. Palin as the World Knowledge Forum's keynote speaker.

Maeil Business Newspaper Korean Language Composite Featuring Gov. Palin

Gov. Palin will be among 250 leaders from 40 countries, including former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Gov. Palin's speech will be in Vista Hall at the Sheraton Grande Walkerhill Hotel, Seoul, South Korea on Tuesday, October 11 at 0900 / 9:00 AM Korea Standard Time. Since KST (UTC+9) is 13 hours ahead of Eastern Time, for us, her speech will be October 10, 2011 at 2000 / 8:00 PM. Registration fees for the World Knowledge Forum range from USD $500 to $800.

Her speech is on the Presentation Track and will be moderated by Riz Khan, an Al Jazeera English Anchor. In a telephone conversation I had with Jennifer Moon at the World Knowledge forum, she indicated that Gov. Palin's speech would be broadcast on NBN, a South Korean cable TV channel, which is part of the Korean Broadcasting System.

Last Sunday September 18, 2011 was the 2nd annual Beverly Hills Tea Party.

O4P-CA was out in full force registering new volunteers for our California Ground Team and passing out O4P literature.

Early Sunday morning we packed up the O4P Mobile full of cards, SWAG, O4P posters/banners, sign-up sheets, and our very own one man camera crew (thanks Russ! Pssssst!...Stay tuned for details!)

The Beverly Hills Police Department were very kind and helped us set up shop on the grass (The BHPD are super cool; I still don't understand why Zsa Zsa slapped that officer)

The Beverly Hills Tea Party was founded last year by Pat Boone and a group of Mama Grizzlies led by O4P-CA volunteer Josephine Rescigno.

Mama Grizzly Josephine's hard work really paid off! This years Tea Party Rally was a huge success. Turn out was great, momentum was high, and lines were drawn in the sand. Beverly Hills has a message for the permanent political class: We are TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY!

This years speakers began with: Master of Ceremonies (and the original American Idol) Pat Boone, Congressman Tom McClintock, Presidential Candidate Congressman Thaddeus McCotter, author and columnist Benjamin Shapiro, Rev. Wayne Perryman, broadcast journalist Hugh Hewitt, writer Bill Whittle, President of the American Family Business Institute Dick Patten, commediene Sonja Schmidt, producer James Patrick Riley, 2^nd Vice Chair of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County Peter Ford, and closing remarks were delivered by O4P-CA State Coordinator Thomas S Schmitz.

During the Rally O4P-CA volunteers armed with clipboards and sign-up sheets roamed the crowd registering new people for our Ground Team.

There were people from the Hermain Cain and Rick Perry campaigns at the Rally too. As the day went on it became more and more obvious. The enthusiasm, the drive, and the motivation is on our side. Together, we can do this.

All day long O4P-CA volunteers heard the same thing from concerned citizens. "We want Sarah Palin to run for President".

In order to win against the GOP Establishment and the left in 2012 we must continue to connect with one another and build a Ground Team that is the mother of all grass-roots efforts...ever.

In the coming days, weeks, and months O4P will keep the ball rolling, and keep on truckin along...

If you haven't already now is the time to double down your efforts. Now is the time to join your state O4P group. Now is the time to get involved.

America must win this war.

We must work, we must save, we must sacrifice, we must endure.

O4P NY to SI Young Republicans: Register New GOP’ers by 10/14

"The situation is in New York, you must be registered Republican by October 14, or you will not be able to vote for anyone in the 2012 Presidential primary. We only have a few weeks," I said September 20 as I urged the Staten Island Young Republicans to conduct a formal voter registration drive. In my capacity as Organize4Palin's (O4P) NY State Coordinator, I explained that while everyone present may be Republicans, they may have friends, family and colleagues who might be registered in other parties or no party at all. According to the New York State Board of Elections, party registrations must be in their possession no less than 25 days prior to the current year's general election. But, party switches do not take effect until the following year."Whether you support Gov. Palin or any of the other candidates and hopefuls, you can't vote for any of them in the Republican primary if you are not registered."I provided documents from Smart Girl Politics which give generic instructions on how to start a formal voter registration drive. All the Regional / County Coordinators for O4P NY were sent these documents electronically. "While some of you may have seen me pushing the voter registration issue on Facebook and Twitter, and it has been effective, we need to move beyond the computer to human networking," I said.The New York City Board of Elections is also hiring poll workers. I shared this information with the Young Republicans, some of whom also received hiring notices. "If you can get excused time from work or school, this is a fantastic opportunity to see and learn about the entire electoral process from the inside," I said.

Gov. Palin's Activities, Accomplishments are Presidential

Though the purpose of my speaking last night was voter registration, I came well-prepared to answer questions about O4P and Gov. Palin. As my brief address ended, one member asked, "do you think Gov. Palin will run?"

"I don't have any inside information from the Palin camp, but tonight I compiled a list of Gov. Palin's activity over the past year. To me, they signal a Presidential run. On November 13, 2010, she addressed the new Congress - including our Michael Grimm - who she endorsed and who I campaigned for. Here is a synopsis of what she said them:

Rein in out-of-control government spending.

Repeal ObamaCare.

Cut deficit; cut wasteful spending. Cut earmarks. Cancel remaining stimulus.

Reform entitlements.

Encourage zero-based budgeting.

No tax hikes.

Secure the borders – first.

Strong defense, free trade, nurture allies, steadfastly oppose enemies.

No cuts to necessities in defense budget.

No START Treaty.

No trying terrorists in the US.
In 2009 and 2010, Gov. Palin traveled to Hong Kong and Canada. This year, she traveled to India and Israel. She is set to travel to South Korea next month.Over the past three years, she has spoken out against ObamaCare, the stimulus, quantitative easing and for national security, free markets and the Tenth Amendment.Gov. Palin hired a chief of staff, Michael Glassner. She replaced her prior neo-conservative foreign policy advisers with Peter Schewitzer, a Reagan Conservative. This past May, Gov. Palin outlined her five-point military doctrine, which is:

Only commit forces when US interests at stake

Fight to win

Only fight with clearly defined goals and objectives

US soldiers are never to be under a foreign command

Using force should be a last resort
In Indianola, Iowa, an event for which I was present, Gov. Palin outlined her five-point economic recovery plan:

Stop Out-of-Control, over-reaching Federal Government. Enforce the Tenth Amendment.

Repeal ObamaCare.

Prioritize and cut budget. Cancel unused stimulus. Reform entitlements.

Become an energy superpower. Drill Here. Drill Now.

Eliminate federal corporate income tax; eliminate corporate welfare, loopholes, and bail-outs.
Her economic recovery plan mirrors her address to our Congress last year, but is adjusted for current issues. Also, in Indianola, Gov. Palin began targeting crony capitalism."When you combine all these activities into a big picture, they are Presidential in nature. If I were a gambling man, I'd place the odds of Gov. Palin running at 97% to 99%," I concluded.

Electable!

President Obama’s poll numbers continue to drop like an elevator with a snapped cable. For the last three years the argument amongst conservatives and Republicans was “is he beatable?” and “is she electable?” Suddenly this has all changed. A total twist of events is occurring before our eyes. Obama is on the skids and Sarah Palin is on the rise.

Honestly, this writer doesn’t want to get to get too excited just yet. Palin has not officially announced. Polls have always been flaky. Mike Huckabee explained that polls are just a snapshot in time and are not predictors of an outcome that is still far out. Sarah Palin has said that polls are for strippers and cross country skiers. In an effort to remain intellectually honest, this blogger remains committed to his theory that while polls can give you a general feel for how the electorate is feeling at a given moment, the only poll that counts is the one where people go into voting booths and push buttons or levers.

The latest polls, however, give justification to arguments that Palin supporters and open minded conservatives have been saying for the last three years. She is totally electable. She always has been and she always will be – barring some strange twist of fate involving her health, a Howard Dean moment or if by some statistical aberration that with all the attempts to destroy her (the dumpster diving, the email reading, the interviewing of almost every resident in Alaska), her enemies missed a paper trail that showed embezzlement or a surveillance video of her robbing a bank. But even then, if they found something like that now, they’ve cried wolf so many times, many people wouldn’t believe them.

The American people are having a Laity Lodge moment when, like in the radio commercial, they are getting to see first hand that the rumors about Sarah Palin are flat wrong. At the same time, they are finally seeing through the smoke screen that the media has thrown around Obama since he was a candidate for president in 2008.

Ronald Reagan was 25 points behind Carter 8 months out from the election. His electability at this point in 1979 was way more in doubt than Palin’s is. Reagan didn’t have the advantage of the electronic era with a 24 hour news cycle, Facebook and other new media ways of expressing himself. The new era of news is a double edged sword, It was a weapon to be used against Palin to smear her by having every negative meme perpetrated on fly up the media flagpole because of the complicity of the mainstream media. This did not stop Palin and her supporters from turning it into a weapon for them to compress time frames and deal with the smears almost instantaneously.

Because Reagan didn’t have today’s media at his avail, it took him right up to merely weeks before the election to overcome the public’s concerns. But, the methodology was the same. He showed them in the final debate with Jimmy Carter that he was not only competent but affable by being himself in front of the American people. There was no print or video medium then that could stop him from busting through the myths then just as there is no print or video medium today that can alter the speech that Palin gave in Indianola, IA.

When you see Palin drawing this close to Obama in the polls, it’s a testimony to the fact that we have new media and a 24 hour news cycle that can be used both ways. It’s highly unlikely that Palin would have been able to make this kind of a comeback given the intense and continuous smears hurled at her hourly and daily for the last three years had she been trying to run for president during the late 1970’s. Today, those smears are accellerated, but so are the responses to them.

While left wing bloggers, liberal cable news channels and progressive websites were spending all their energy using the modern media to smear Sarah Palin, she and her supporters were not daunted by the onslaught. They saw the same media as their opportunity to pour out onto the cyber battlefield and go head to head with established writers, journalists and news organizations that were once thought of as too powerful to take on.

For the first time, ordinary Americans were able to come out en masse and draw swords on a flat rhetorical playing field. Liberals, who once swayed the playing field in their direction by infiltrating established media organizations were finding that they were no longer able to rig the game. The Joe Kleins and Keith Olbermanns of the world found that average conservative Americans had honed their skills to the level where they could not only take them on in the arena but force them to retreat.

Just look at the Palin army. This highly organized and highly motivated operation was born out of a need to defend a bloodied, bruised and nearly beaten Sarah Palin after the 2008 election. The Palin operation was once a few members of Team Sarah who’d go to smear article after hit article about her and defend her in the comment sections. Today, there are hundreds of Pro Palin websites, including Conservatives4Palin, a website that could shoot down a Joe McGinniss missile before it even left the silo.

Just look at the Tea Party, too. It’s millions strong and growing. It was born out of fear of a big government Obama presidency and a rant on CNBC by Rick Santelli. It became the gathering and breeding ground for conservative and libertarian activists. After the 2008 election, the conservative movement was on its last legs. The only way the Republican Party could survive would be to form a coalition of libertarians and conservatives and take on an Obama agenda that began falling flat day one. Millions who were electrified by Sarah Palin or horrified by Barack Obama rushed to the Tea Party almost immediately. The coalition occurred naturally, with no prodding from the GOP leadership. It was a bottom up movement, not a top down one.

On 9/12/2009, over a million strong marched on Washington. From that day forward, the movement has pushed aside the lies of the mainstream media and proven once and for all what a fraud and what a phony Barack Obama really is.

Braveheart’s William Wallace would be proud of the Tea Party movement and Palin’s Ordinary Barbarians who have stormed the rhetorical battlefield in staggering numbers to take on the Obama army of thugs. The One once spoke to hundreds of thousands gathered in Chicago on the night of his victory while the battered and defeated McCain army moped off hoping to some day return again. The tears in Sarah Palin’s eyes that night became the elixir in an image that would drive Palinistas to near political death to avenge the wrong that was done to their leader. The loss also drove the rest of the Tea Party movement to work that much harder to make sure it never happened again.

Today, the army is vibrant. It’s energized. It’s enthusiastic. This is happening at a time when many are jumping off the Obama bandwagon. Millions of independents, even some liberal journalists are beginning to see the Obama ship listing and they want off now before it sinks.

The movement is confident that they are onward to victory. The army grows. More and more people are pledging to not vote for Obama. More and more people are seeing the truth about Sarah Palin. They are beginning to believe that she can do it.

There is still much work to do. We’ve come a long way. We have an even longer way to go. But we will get there.

The last couple of weeks have been unforgettable and full of promise!

With her recent speeches in Iowa and New Hampshire, who can deny that Governor Palin has helped shape discussion among lawmakers and candidates alike with her straight talk on crony capitalism and federal burdens on businesses? Would these issues have even been addressed in the depth they are now, if she had not brought them to the forefront?

Of course, all of us here have watched Governor Palin lead like that for quite some time now. And we expect she will continue to address the hard things that no one else will, “…with integrity, good will, clear convictions, and a servant’s heart.”

No doubt you all saw the sea of O4P t-shirts on C-Span during the IA rally, along with images from there and NH too since then, but what isn’t always visible are the efforts that go on off camera. This incredible C4P and O4P family has come through again and again to support the O4P effort, with donations and boots on the ground.

One of our fellow O4P friends is challenging us all again, and will match any donation of $100 or more up to a total of $1,000, for donations made between now and midnight, Sunday, September 18th.

If you have the wherewithal to give financially to this effort, please give generously of any amount. In the past, we have used donated funds for critical needs such as running ads to reach other Gov. Palin supporters and include them in our mailings, purchasing literature to pass out at events, building state sites, and reserving spaces at fairs, among other things.

Gov. Palin Did Tell Us: "Keep Your Powder Dry"

The Balloon field in Indianola, IA had just cleared out, leaving a false Presidential announcement narrative long dead in its wake. The narrative, which had run for two weeks straight was that Governor Palin would announce that day. Karl Rove and Dick Morris promulgated it. They wanted to set up the meme of "disappointed supporters." The event organizer aided and abetted it, because they wanted to gin up their crowd numbers. SarahPAC shot the rumor down long before the rally, but some people just wanted to keep it going. The moment Gov. Palin and her husband Todd left that field, a new narrative began...

Constitution Day

Falling out on Saturday, September 17, but being observed on Friday, September 16, it was just so right. Being a Friday, Gov. Palin could call into Alaska's Bob and Mark Show, as she had promised several times. She could dominate the news cycle for the entire weekend. With Bachmann's campaign all but a smoking hole in the ground and Perry under crony capitalism attack, the time seemed nigh. Even the imagery on the One Nation Bus suggested the 16th could be the day. The 16th was just perfect. As the week began, emotions among some of us Palinistas built into a fever pitch.

Gov. Palin had nothing to do with any of this, for not one peep escaped her lips about September 16th. But, a large plurality of her supporters wanted that day and became emotionally wrapped up in it. It got ginned up on Facebook. As the days and hours hurtled toward the 16th, the emotions and psychological projection built. The links in the chain to some people's disappointment were being forged.

Telephone/Telegraph

By Thursday night, the rumor had started: "Gov. Palin was going to call into the Bob and Mark Show on the 16th," a website declared. Palin groups on Facebook lit up. Immediately, KWHL was bombarded with emails and major news networks started calling them. Once word of that got out, the chatter intensified all the more. If the networks were "tipped off" she had to be calling in for sure! The classic child's game of telephone/telegraph was in full swing.

First-time listeners to the show do not know that Bob and Mark and their staff like to play pranks with callers. It's part of the schtick and part of the fun. Bob and Mark were long off the air for the day, but the switchboard operator advised several supporters to tune into the show at 1130 / 11:30 AM EDT on the 16th. The operator could not confirm who was calling but "something was going to happen."

When Bob and Mark took to the airwaves, they shot the rumor down and said if Gov. Palin was going to call in, they would be just as surprised as everyone else. She was not on the schedule and there was no call planned.

The Prank

At 1306 / 1:06 PM EDT, Bob and Mark announced that "Sarah was going to call in." While waiting for the call, they played three songs, the central theme of which is a word defining "female dog." Hearing this, I had a feeling the call would be a prank. Bob and Mark would not play this type of music if they knew for certain the real Gov. Palin was going to call in right after. Though some of their content is best be described as R-rated, they tend to clean it up when they know something serious is coming up. They might be raunchy, but they know when to knock it off.

Then, a male voice they usually use for pranks "called in."

"I'm Sarah. I'm running. I've already run five miles and I have a few more to go!"

Even with my anticipation at fever pitch, I got a good, hearty belly laugh out of "Sarah." After all, Adrienne Ross used that theme in her coverage of Gov. Palin's half-marathon, and I used it in a subsequent story. As a publisher, I want to be the first or at least among the first to break the news. But, yesterday simply was not HER day as perfect as it seemed to so many of us.

Under the Bus!

Many supporters who were so emotionally wrapped up in the 16th were angry that Bob and Mark pulled this prank. Now, they want Gov. Palin to throw Bob and Mark under the One Nation Bus by reneging on her promise to announce with the Alaskan DJ's. After all, "they're just crass shock jocks. Why should she announce with them?"

We've Been Here. We'll Be Here. That's It!

Bob and Mark's slogan is "We've been here. We'll be here. That's it!" It's not just a slogan. They have been here for Sarah Palin throughout her career as Alaska's governor and as a private citizen. Piper Palin, called into the show last year, while her mom was out holding signs for Joe Miller who ran for a US Senate seat. At every key milestone, Bob and Mark were there. When Gov. Parnell tried to destroy Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share (ACES), Bob and Mark were there defending Gov. Palin's legacy and using their show as a bully pulpit for weeks to ensure that ACES - a signature accomplishment of Gov. Palin's - was not hurt. When McGinniss' poison pen book dominated the news for days, Bob and Mark were the only ones on the Alaskan airwaves - there to defend the Palins - and minced no words about what McGinniss is.

Eddie Burke was also a friendly host toward the Palins, but he is long off the radio.

Bob and Mark are the last ones left standing supporting Gov. Palin on the Alaskan airwaves.

While some Palinistas might find some of Bob and Mark's content offensive, and felt "had" by the prank, Gov. Palin has her reasons for promising to announce with Bob and Mark, not least among them being an homage to her local roots, and rewarding their undying loyalty to her.

Keep Your Powder Dry

If nothing else, Bob and Mark performed a valuable service yesterday. Gov. Palin has many times said, "keep your powder dry." Those who didn't heed her advice got pranked. It's that simple. Bob and Mark also taught us that we need to lighten up, and learn to laugh a little. Sometimes, we take things - and ourselves too seriously. Life is too short. When it's her time, it's her time. The announcement will be at a time, place and method of Gov. Palin's choosing, not ours. It will not be at our collective psychological projection of what we hope she will do, regardless of how perfect it might seem. The 16th was "perfect" for some of us, but not for Gov. Palin. She may never reveal her reasons and she has absolutely no obligation to.

Those who ginned up the September 16th narrative have no one to blame but themselves for their outcome on the Bob and Mark Show. It was well-deserved. There is absolutely no reason to expect Gov. Palin to renege on her promise, based on a funny prank. Those who expect her to do so are most likely ginning up another disappointment for themselves.

All this nonsense can be avoided by simply not posting rumors and scuttlebutt on websites and social media sites.

I can't believe it's been an entire year since the last Beverly Hills Tea Party!

So much has happened.

My fondest memory of last years Beverly Hills Tea Party was meeting one of it's founders: Josephine Rescigno who came up to me and said:

"Tell Sarah Palin I want to be a Mama Grizzly"

Of course by Josephine GOING ROGUE and organizing the Beverly Hills Tea Party she already was a Mama Grizzly!

Josephine is also a fellow member of O4P-CA. I've had the pleasure of working with her this past year on many projects like the Mama Grizzly March on Beverly Hills, and The Undefeated Leadership Screening in Orange County.

This coming Sunday September 18 from 2:30pm - 5:30pm Josephine Rescigno, Pamela Hoffman, Debi Devens, & Pat Boone (the original American Idol) will host another BEVERLY HILLS TEA PARTY!

Let's all show support for our fellow Grizzlies! (Check out Josephine and Pat Boone at the Mama Grizzly March in Beverly Hills last November)

Tea Party's are excellent places to strengthen the O4P-CA ground team (Remember: Whoever has the strongest ground team wins!)

Crony Capitalism on Steroids from GE to Solyndra - Updated

UPDATE: Yet another shoe drops in the ongoing crony capitalism problems now engulfing the Obama administration. Yesterday, we learned that the the Obama White House allegedly pressured a four-star Air Force general to change his testimony about a company linked to a major Democrat donor.

In my recent speech in Iowa, some eyebrows were raised when I took on our government’s enormous economic problems caused by crony capitalism. As if on cue, just days later President Obama selected someone who exemplifies a major crony capitalism problem to sit next to the First Lady when he delivered his “jobs plan” speech before Congress. He selected General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt as his honored guest.

Having grown up with great respect for GE thanks to stories my grandfather shared with us about his days working for the company and even meeting GE spokesman-at-the-time Ronald Reagan during a company event, I am saddened at GE’s leadership evolution. This corporation is now the poster child of corporate welfare and crony capitalism.

This icon of American industry is a company full of good employees who make some good products (and is the parent company of a huge media outlet), but GE is also a large American corporation that pays virtually no corporate income taxes despite earning worldwide profits of $14.2 billion last year, $5.1 billion of it in the United States. In fact, they claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion, meaning they received more of our hard earned tax dollars than they contributed. How is that possible? It’s because not only do they shelter their money from taxes, but they also get many tax credits, loans, government grants, and other benefits from the federal government that our smaller businesses couldn’t even imagine being able to profit from.

Joining GE in the pantheon of crony capitalism is another Obama favorite that has been in the news of late: Solyndra. The President hailed this “green energy” company in a speech last May as “the true engine of economic growth.” When he announced the $535 million guarantee to Solyndra, Vice President Biden said that investments like this are “exactly what the Recovery Act is all about.” (Dear God…If the failed Solyndra venture has been what it’s “all about,” then that explains a lot.) As I pointed out in my speech at the Reagan Ranch Center last February: “History has proven again and again, when government picks the winners and losers, we’re stuck with the losers, and we the taxpayers subsidize failure!” And that’s what we’re seeing now, as the FBI raids the solar energy company’s headquarters to glean more information after the company was handed half a billion dollars in “green energy” Stimulus funds from the American taxpayer only to later declare bankruptcy. More than one thousand Solyndra workers lost their jobs. Now as the truth comes out, we discover that the White House was heavily involved in the Department of Energy’s rushed decision to give the Stimulus funds to Solyndra, and they tried to move the money through so quickly they seem to have ignored concerns that the company was not viable. Why would they do this? Perhaps it’s because a large investor in the company (about 35%) is Obama campaign bundler George Kaiser. And with the way the deal is structured, Kaiser will get his debts paid before we the taxpayers see any relief. That is sickening. And that’s how it works: workers lose their jobs, wealthy political cronies stand a good chance of getting their money back, and the U.S. taxpayer gets the shaft. Again.

President Obama has his sights set on raising $1 billion for his reelection campaign. Raising that money won’t be easy. But if you can hand out other people’s money to friends, it must get a whole lot easier. This crony capitalism and government waste is at the heart of our economic problems. It will destroy us if we don’t root it out. It’s not just a Democrat problem or a Republican problem. It’s a problem of our permanent political class. This won’t stop until “we the people” say enough is enough, and we retire the permanent political class that votes for this.
